Turkish coffee is a darker roast than Greek coffee. Greek coffee is a very light roast. What this means is that although it is not as bitter as Turkish coffee, its caffeine content is higher. The more you roast coffee, the more caffeine is lost in the process.
Pretty cool you loved Greek coffee instantly. In my opinion, I have tried both Turkish and Greek coffee when I was in both countries, but I love the Greek coffee much more. It's much more aromatic than the Turkish, or Arab coffee (I was in middle east too), and this is mainly because the Greek coffee beans are way less roasted than the Turkish one. And therefor much more of the flavor in a aromatic state than with Turkish or Arab. Think of this. When you caramelise onions, onions become tastier and tastier when you brown them. But then when you blackened the onions, they are far worse and bitter. Hence this for me Greek coffee has truly an amazing taste. I drink my Greek coffee medium sweet.
Thanks for sharing your experience, nice to read it! Honestly I never drink turkish coffee, except for one when I was younger, but can remember it was super bitter indeed. As for the Greek one, I'm not quite sure how much sugar she put it, but it was definitely waaay tastier and actually really nice! But this could be because of what you're saying. ☺
Greek coffee with a bit of sugar gives a whole new definition to the taste which might be good or bad for some but it's definitely an acquired taste. P.S. I got nervous for a moment when you asked that woman about Turkish coffee. Glad she didn't make a big deal out of it :D
I have been telling people in Greece about Iordanis bougatsa since 2004, since i was 10 and most people knew nothing about it, then Gordon Ramsay goes there and the delayed gratification couldn't feel sweeter.
Better late than never I guess? ☺️ - but yes, I wished I discovered it a bit earlier on our trip as well. Our host recommended it to us - and I am glad she did. Wish I could have eaten more, it was THAT good 🥹
@@carolshaw7904 Hope so! The weather was unbearable in old town. I would highly recommend renting a car (with AC) and wander off to the beautiful beaches to cool down. - Hope you have a wonderful time ✨
According to Google you can drink from the tap! As we would leave the room in the morning and come back in the evenings we always had bottled water to be honest 🙈.. hope this helps!
next time don't compare greek food or anything to other countries. specially turkey haha " we greeks invented all " that's what she thought but did't say hahahahaah

Great vlog. We are visiting later this year. Can I ask what month was this filmed in. Just wondering for temperatures.
