Well, it didn't take Billy long but today he climbed an 8C+ called 'Mr Hyde' with Alex Waterhouse down in Ceuse! Guess we'll have to follow up with a 9a film next ;)
What a wonderfully positive and well spirited video. Down to earth and just really sweet video of a nice guy and his father who like spending time together. Absolutely loved it.
Thank you for making this video Andrew it's awesome. It was lovely to meet you and if you ever need somewhere to stay over, you know where are.
Thank you so much Ann- I'll probably take you up on that!
I didn't realise who's channel I was watching until half way through, I thought it was by Petzl, or North face or something! What an amazing talent!
Loved this one Andrew. Really classy film making. Also nice to see Billy’s dad and his glowing pride for his son. Super stuff. 👌🏼👍🏼
Awesome job Andrew!!! Loving the more long form/classical climbing videos showcasing different climbers and routes.
PS-That being said, I am sorely missing Captain Cut-loose. Louis is so much fun to watch and as someone fairly new to climbing, his insights always allowed me to learn more.
Either way, keep up the great work, Andrew!
Thanks! No worries, I've got a film with Louis in the works that I'm excited for us to finish up. Oh and Louis does free live classes online through his company Catalyst, so you can also check him out there!
Imagine climbing 8c and then sending V10 for your cool down 🤯
Right! I even left out the footage of him projecting a V13 boulder after the V10 lol
This is brilliant Andrew! Such a great insight and so beautifully put together! 🙌
Thanks Hannah! Hope the move went smoothly!!
The production value on this is AMAZING. You outdo yourself every time Andrew.
Thanks Oskar! 🙏
That was super sick. What a crusher! Way to capture the story.
His dad is so wholesome
This footage was amazing. Thankyou Andrew for your consistently great film making
Really enjoyed that great story. Thanks Andy, Billy and Wayne.
Great work on this Andrew and Billy. That was really enjoyable to watch!
Absolutely awesome Andrew, great vid, story telling on point 🤙 Awesome climbing Billy!!!
Great video, loving your channel Andrew please keep the content coming
Beautifully shot and cut video!!
Loved this video, thank you!
Great video mate 👌👌 such a positive family, always love seeing Billy in your videos 👏
Very nice video Andrew!
Please use a small letter in the grade next time if it is sport climb ;-)
8c -> Route
8C -> Boulder
Keep it up!
A really interesting insight. Go Billy! Thanks ya'll.
What an awesome video ! Amazing editing !
Super well done video!
I read 8C and thought it was going to be a V15 boulder.
Great quality 🙌🏻
what a feel good video all around!
Very nicely done. 👍
about the 8c climb: as you did it I could see that you have so much more in you. I think the world's top climber communityis going to hear a lot more about you. :)
Fantastic send, I think Hubble has your name on it!!
Great climbing, cool music, good vibes!
Quality piece, top blokes.
Cheers Toby 🤙
Seems like a good dude!!! Also super great video!
Sickkk
I LOVE HIS DAD
Your best video!
Pro-tip - it's pronounced phonetically speaking "Daarby" not "Dirby"
dURby by NottingHAM
He climbed 8C+ today so already out of date :P
Sport climbing is genuinely so much more impressive than bouldering.
he kinda looks like andrew garfield
Love to see Billy's humility. His dad's interview bits are so wholesome, too. These are the types of people that make climbing communities awesome
The dad is a total legend!
big up Wayne!
Amazingly shot and edited, you're so underrated!
Yeah, great video. Got me stoked to train and climb even harder.
This is one of your best videos so far. Really high quality production and great content. More like this please :)
🐱👤WOW, this guy looks VERY strong...
.
Billy's dad seems so nice.
He really is a top bloke
That was an awesome one - unsung hero is defo Billy's dad!
This is a great short film Andrew. Can't wait for more!
Complete powerhouse and a great video 💪
2 sessions? Billy’s got the 9a for sure
I love the video and the process, but is there a particular advantage for using the right ring finger for the mono over the middle finger?
Because of the size of the pocket, people with skinny fingers have used their middle finger, and the unfortunate few with big fingers have had to use their pinky! Ring finger was just what fit for me :)
@@FutureInsyte I love this reponse and it's definitely very insightful, thank you so much for the explanation! And also, I'm excited to see some more content of you and your process! I'm now a fan!
I actually forgot that it was Andrews Video not that I wouldnt trust him in doing such a Video but the Quality is just astonishing
Great Video
haha cheers
I really like this video. :)
really awesome video!
VERY GOOD FILMING GJ
Great video until you said "derby" ;)
he needs a video saying English towns and cities: Loughborough, Bicester, Wycombe, Leicester, Reading, Gloucester, godmanchester, Lewis, etc lol
very good
Nice edit! And the music is just perfectly matched to telling the story. I think this is one of my favorite videos from you👍🏻
Damn that was wholesome 😀 Great Video Andy!
Don't have anything to say, but gonna boost you in that algorithm. :) Good work!
great videos andrew!! professional and personal. Love watching them keep them coming!!
Really enjoyed the video. A personal, nice story. Like how proud his dad is.
Well put together, with your standard great sound track. Thanks.
Awesome Video! Loved the editing! I started climbing whilst at uni in derby at the climbing unit and have since moved home and climb regularly at harrowall. I have to say that the climbing unit although much smaller provides far better quality climbing and overall enjoyment due to the route setting, wall design and variety of holds. Harrowall is just awesome because its so big.
An awesome and inspiring video. Just a sidetrack question: what’s the song at 12:35?
Find Courage by Josh Hoover ;)
@@AndrewMacFarlane Thanks a lot,Andrew!
Great video. Nice combination of getting to know Billy and some great climbing footage.
Jajajaja looks like every route in Raventor is sandbagged and wants to spit you off the rock 😂
I really liked the video. I like the story behind the climbers.
Beautiful film and as a 21:9 user I much appreciated the extra wide view!
Nice job Andrew, really good storytelling
Love these kinds of videos! When will be the next one with Louis Cut Loose?
phenomenal video again dude!
good job on the edit! as always!
Great video Andrew!
awesome vid man, keep it up :)
👍
Billy looks / sounds about 16? is he?
I'm 23 😂
@@FutureInsyte lol - still so young tho :)
Hi Andrew,
The editing here is really high quality from a technical perspective but I have some hopefully not unwanted concerns about the story telling here.
Obviously, you get what you get when yo film a climbing trip so you probably didn't know he was going to just crush it but it's not much of a surprise a national team athlete could crush a route this like so there was no real tension and it felt kind of anticlimactic.
I'm happy for him and it's cool that he did it but I think we all appreciate triumph more in the face of struggle. As you noted in the comments he just sent 8C+. Watching Mani the Monkey hit that grade was rewarding because we've been following him on the journey for years.
Watching Eric Karlsson (sort of) climb his second V6 outside and V9 inside recently was similarly much more rewarding because I've been rooting for ages.
Again, not strictly your fault but I thought it was worth you hearing it from the audience since I think it could've been a chance to record more footage post send or something to change the tone.
Hey, thanks for the very thoughtful post! I also really enjoy some good tension for stories, and have used that for impact in some other videos to build suspense, but for me this was more about Billy and his parents. I don't think there was much doubt in any of us whether or not he could do it. But for me it was more about family... a father and son out for a climb just like when Billy started as a kid.
@@AndrewMacFarlane that's totally fair! I'll see if I can rewatch parts in that light, I think that the title might've had me expecting a slightly different story and reframed my viewing. Appreciate the quick response. Looking forward to your next video man!
