  • Over the course of the last few years, pasture has become more of a focus on our little homestead. With the help of rotating our animals, our soil health has improved greatly. Reseeding has been helpful to continue adding diversity and extra growth.
We hope you enjoy this one!

You are going to love having lambs. They are so cute. We currently have 7 on the ground.

Eek! I can hardly wait! Our ewe has only had single lambs so I'm only expecting one, but we should also see some goat kids late spring! (and puppies!)

Great goals for the paddocks for the sheep! I have a question, what will you do for shelter for the sheep and goats , rain storms and overnight, also shade during the hot summer? Do you bring them back to the barn at night? What is your plan? This is my dilemma with rotational grazing. We tried rotational grazing our Kune Kunes in the past and finally sold them, it was exhausting moving everything.

This past year, I used an old canvas tent for shade that was waterproof. In preparation for notably rough storms, I would bring them into the barn to stay dry. I probably only brought them into the barn 5 or 6 times for storms.

@@WorkingAussiesHomestead great idea for a canvas shade cloth. We will be getting sheep for the first time in a few weeks so that’s very helpful.

Be careful not to turn out sheep/goats on new grass too fast. They will gorge and die. Be very careful‼️
