Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed the eerie atmosphere - nothing like the sound of rain to set the mood for ghostly tales! Visiting Mother Shipton’s Cave must have been an incredible experience. If you get the chance, the inn is definitely worth a visit too!🕯️
Ha! Visiting during the day sounds like a wise choice! Thank you for watching - we’re so glad the stories inspired you. Which location would you visit first?🕯️
Absolutely right - Judge Jeffries is also known as the 'Hanging Judge,' and has been key figure in many haunted tales. His legacy certainly leaves a chilling mark 🕯️
I have stayed a few times at the Mermaid Inn located in Rye and had two ghostly experiences, the most amazing was when we stayed in the Hawkhurst suite, in the middle of the night a door between the main bedroom and a little single bed space unlatched itself opened and then closed, we watched the latch lift up to close it, we also saw lots of orbs and they responded to us asking to see them. We had the same sort of experience in one of the twin rooms, very early morning woke up to see the door to the bathroom open and then close, I must admit I didn't go to investigate, on reading the visitors book in the lounge a couple from China had the same experience in that room. I would highly recommend a stay there if you have an interest in ghosts and history, Rye is a beautiful town.
That’s such a wonderful detail - thanks for sharing! The Mermaid Inn is steeped in history and atmosphere, and it’s great to know it inspired Malcolm Saville’s stories as well.🕯️
Thanks for the insights, how interesting. The Long Mynd in Shropshire is indeed a fascinating and often overlooked area with a rich sense of mystery. Its landscapes and legends are truly captivating - perhaps we should explore its stories in a future video!🕯️
@@AncientBritainMyths well worth a visit. I used to live near Bridgnorth with it's mysterious castle ruins - well worth a week or two to research some "forgotten county" places and look out their libraries for local history and odd happenings
Wow, living so close to the Ram must have been quite an experience! That pub has such a chilling history. If you ever feel comfortable sharing more, we’d love to hear your story - these local tales are what keep folklore alive🕯️
Thank you for watching! We’re so glad you enjoyed it - there’s nothing like ghostly tales on Christmas Eve to set the perfect atmosphere. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!🕯️
Absolutely! Daphne du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn is a brilliant novel inspired by the real-life inn and its dark, mysterious history. It’s a great blend of intrigue and atmosphere - perfect for ghost story lovers!🕯️
What kind of sense does it take to throw a body in a well, where you get your drinking water? The same kind of sense from a person who thinks that just because of a long time away, their spouse must have been having an affair? Probably Projecting😢!! JMO😊!!
You raise a good point - it really does seem like poor decision-making some times! Many of these old tales can make us wonder about the thought process behind them. Thanks for sharing your take🕯️
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re always looking for ways to improve, and your input helps us refine our storytelling. If there’s something specific you’d like to hear differently, we’d love to know.🕯️

Judge Jeffries perhaps ?
Absolutely right - Judge Jeffries is also known as the 'Hanging Judge,' and has been key figure in many haunted tales. His legacy certainly leaves a chilling mark 🕯️
I thought that too, he died in jail, very fitting to end up there when he jailed anyone on trumped up charges. Karma.
Indeed.

I don't know -- how much would I be paid to spend the night in the Ram Inn? (Who says I'd be sleeping?)
Great question! The real challenge isn’t the pay - it’s making it peacefully through the night! Sleeping might not even be an option… 🕯️
