Guys specially those in diaspora don't think about any other business other than buying titled Land. Forget about starting a business in Uganda if you don't want to loose money
True, have always advised my friends against rentals especially in that age of 20-40. Its a retirement project. Get a business that has no fixed income. Will only stall your development. You are very right my brother.
On business number 2 of leasing buildings it needs someone with enough money to lease for like 5-10yrs Ugandans the moment u do business in their building and it works after your agreement they increase rent or take up their buildings and do the same business there
Thx mr Julius you are true but the only reason why youths choose rentals over other mentioned businesses is risk, with rentals the propability of failing is low though the cashflow is also low unlike other businesses which can cease any time of the year here in uganda
For people who are in rural areas and especially have access to land, then apart from management issues, there is no other sure way to accumulate capital other than what other people in your rural community who are successful did before you!.For example As for me who relates to animal farming, i dont see anything else that builds money better than cows and goats. I know people who got educated by their parents from coffee who end up selling their land to go in other businesses in the city as if they didnt learn anything from their parents..The trick with building wealth is patience! You dont have to be rich in 2-3 years. It may even take you 15 years as you build slowly by slowly accumulating your capital a shilling at a time
Mr. Julius sebo thank you for your wisdom. Most of these ideas are addressed to people who have already accumulated some money on their accounts. The biggest problem here in Uganda is with people who have no start up capital or jobless. Ideas are brilliant but need money which money youths do not have here.
Yes. That's a great observation!. People need to understand their own unique personal situation and look for that one positive thing that can assist them to start. Depending on your context, their will be a specific set of ideas that you can explore. And land/real estate may be one of them. We only need to realize that investing is a long term thing and success usually doesn't come fast.
What the good gentleman is not saying is that building rentals/ real estate is a way of forced savings for young people. Its actually good to give chroloform to your money as you accumulate it especially for people who find it hard to accumulate money. Once you have got your real estate e.g rentals over time brick by brick and say it takes you 5 years, then even if you decide to sell, the rentals will give you one big chunk of money at once which you would never have been able to get at once or in afew installments. The assumptions of doing plots subdividing and selling is also fine but he doest explain how you accumulate the capital to buy the big plot to start subdivision. Its a chicken and an egg situation, which came first
So i can say that people will have different ways to accumulate wealth. But what is certain is that the power of compounding simply makes real estate very attractive for young people!. And for people who are completely new to business or investing, and who need to put away small sums of money at a time to accumulate capital, and they are based in urban areas, or have another job, then real estate is the easiest way to start
A few corrections: Any plot of land within 15 km from the city will cost u anywhere between 30 to 100 million. Putting up 4 standard double room rentals may cost anywhere from 50 to 150 million. Real Estate is a long term game that needs patience with the potential to make you wealthy if u know what you're doing. Unfortunately business is not so predictable in this country otherwise I would choose business over real estate
Please continue with Yr building in Ug u can't do any business and get profit in businesses u need workers and customers but ple aren't trustworthy .the more yr business grows the more befere u get the more staff u get the more thieves u get but with rentals after build in. g. i t is. Iife time money
Haha kola business ekuwa daily income that 17m tezisobola kuzimba my dia yee bwonomala okubuzimbamu enyumba olwo onozako ki🤔🤔🤔 ela ngokomawo okubonabonela kukyeyo jjukila emyala jjigenda
The only thing i discourage young people from doing is building your own home to sleep in while you are 20-35 years in urban areas. Whatever way you look at it, it doesn't make any financial or economic sense. If you are based in your village, then it may be different for you. Infact you may need a small personal house out of necessity because you want to become independent from your parents and thst there may not be any rental house options. Also as a young man stsrting up in your village, having your own home adds credibility to you in the eyes of your lenders, suppiers etc and makes you look like a mature dependable, responsible person
What your saying it right also I have a question which I want to hear from you if am 25-30 years between building a home and start up a business which should be done first ( am working outside Uganda)
Don’t look at rentals as a business. I just see them as a way of placing idle money somewhere and still being able to spend the interest (rent) while maintaining the principle
Imagination. Boss have you owned rentals before? People have done businesses and ended up at zero. Sembule, sebagala and sons.... boss buli omu ayina kyafuniramu.
I totally disagree with your view on rentals bse if a person gets his/her money and build rentals will atleast have kept the money there and safe. In our Ugandan economy and taxes all your can be Swindoned once and go back to the village even that buying and selling plots is a risky of buying fake land. Going for farming on large scale is the best way. There's no motivational speaker will advise people to do an investment that can last for life always showing short and excitement businesses.😂😂😂😂
Me too, most people especially the money youth are shallow minded, balengerera kumpi nnyo ate balowooza kubyakuggaggawala mangu. Building rentals is a very good investment.
True this is just a motivational speaker, the business of buying plots and selling them is a risky business to a youth, at least agricultural production on a large scale
But ask yourself first, from where did that person get all that money to buy a plot and construct rentals incase he is living in uganda? It means he used his profits to invest in rentals
Go back to your village and see ordinary people whom you knew to be poor buying their neighbours land one acre at a time and slowly but surely (exempt corrupt Government employees and politicians) offcourse). They own a small business or they have their coffee farm, or animal etc and they plan for their income suplementing that with loans and yet you see they develop year after year.
And yet when for you who is supposed to be middle class in the city driving a car and staying in a nice apartment with kids in expensive schools and dreaming big need just 3m to sort out something , you are running around like a headless chicken callong all your relatives and money lenders etc.The humble uneducated guy in the village who rides his motorcycle is calling the cattle trader to come pick 2 cows the next day and he gets cash. Thats what i see as success!. And i may be wrong off course
