lol this is the first hardlore episode where i had no idea who the guest or what they were talking about but i still loved every second of it. need to check out olw.
Thanks for the mention Jonah! That bbq…I was deep in the bowels of Billerica (maybe at Steve’s house?) and the Formicide dudes mentioned that Steve was resigning and they needed a new singer. I said “I’ve got him, gimme 45 minutes”, drove back to Lowell, got the Blind Surgeon demo, drove back and popped it in. I knew it had to be, even if my motive was partially self gratification as I loved that BS demo and wanted more.
A friend of mine moved into a shared apartment with some guy back in the mid nineties. The dude who lived in the room before left a good bunch of records and CDs which he didn't wanna move so my friend and I shared them among each other. One of the CDs was Prone Mortal Form. I was hooked instantly and a fan ever since. Managed to get my hands on the Freaklaw 7" and the Innocents CD afterward. I was beyond excited when Reflections Records put out both records on vinyl so I instantly grabbed it. Had to grab the Think Fast pressing of PMF in 2018 also... Cannot stress enough how much I love this band. Sadly I never got to see them live and no band ever came close to their grooves and vocal performance. Nibiru from the UK tried when they dropped their EPs (Oxygen eater being the best among them) but still didn't come close. Thanx for this episode and cheers from my side of the world.
the man, the boston myth, the legend! thanks for inviting jonah ! since OLW's last cool reunion, Jonah hasn't been heard much, it's nice to hear him on this podcast.. OLW deserves more recognition now.. the wall of sound and groovy riffs on the prone mortal form album are still rocking to this day! amazing interview
great interview... love to hear bands like Holy Terror and Dark Angel mentioned. would love for you guys to do an interview with Rennie from Starkweather.
I'm not that much into hardcore as I am into metal to be honest, but reading these comments and watching this pod really makes me love this scene. Y'all are in such a good place right now.
Jonah is one of the best and versatile singers out there, he's been involved with so many great bands across many different styles and he's genuinely cool guy
(I am actually a huge OLW fan and know loads about Jonah and can't wait to listen to this episode and learn more, I gotta make sure respect is put on the name here)
Being from New England and being into hardcore in the late 90s/ 2000s was weird. You had this weird era from the 90s with bands following the footsteps of OLW, SBC, Scissorfight and then you had Hatebreed, Death Threat, BFB, DBD, Bane, Black My Heart, OBW, ALL the Lockin Out Shit and then obviously all the “metalcore” made for some weird and diverse shows in the early 2000s😂
Trying to find the Miltown cover that 36 Crazyfists did, can't find it yet. (EDIT: I found it. The band is actually Kallahan, but with guest vocals by Brock from 36CF. [ruclips.net/video/9dtBB1zAs6o/видео.htmlsi=jLg6IxgQyliAcUU8]) I actually discovered OLW thanks to that song Jonah did with 36CF (We Cannot Deny from Rest Inside The Flames).
This is the manosphere that can heal this country
Came to take place in the hardening of my lore 👊🏽

Jonah does all the clean vocals on Grim Heart / Black Rose by Converge and that was my introduction to him. All time Converge track.
Good to know, as there's not a ton of OLW recorded material.
great interview... love to hear bands like Holy Terror and Dark Angel mentioned. would love for you guys to do an interview with Rennie from Starkweather.
Best voice ever imo. Thank you for this.
This podcast has put me on so much good music… but Prone Mortal Form? Master Killer tier game you just put me on. Thank you.
A man of pure class. Saw Miltown with Cave In a few years ago and was BLOWN AWAY.

This will be interesting coz I don't really know much about J. Jonah Jenkins except he loves photos of Spider-Man.
(I am actually a huge OLW fan and know loads about Jonah and can't wait to listen to this episode and learn more, I gotta make sure respect is put on the name here)

More beastmilk love. Bravo
Watching at 2x speed, as always.
If anybody's into power pop, Kevin Stevenson had what I'd consider the most underrated bands ever out of this area - The Shods. Incredible band.
"Micro processors" - Bo. How did no one get the Departed/Martin Sheen reference!!!????
Jonah rules. No one better.
