Is Infinity Edge on Irelia a mistake?

- Irelia is one of the most unique units we've ever seen in TFT. Not only are her visuals stunning, but the way she fights is completely different as well. Instead of auto-attacking the current target, she weaves her blades around the battlefield. Unfortunately, with such a unique concept comes many unintended interactions, or simply put, bugs. For some reason, Infinity Edge does not appear to be a good choice for her, despite being one of the most commonly built items. Why is that, you might ask? It looks like we have a case to solve. Detective Quack is on the hunt!

Small Addendum: One of the reasons this bug can be hard to spot, is because Irelia can "fix" an ability cast and deal the intended critical damage, if an enemy unit dies during her cast.

One other thing I’ve noticed this patch with Irelia is that if the last enemy unit is an Udyr and he hasn’t popped his revive passive yet, after it activates Irelia just straight up stops attacking him.
Unrelated to irelia, or maybe related through her trait story weaver, there’s a bug with the story weaver 7 revive tome, where im guessing kayle tries to revive a unit in the very last second she’s killed, the game bugs and thinks there’s a unit on board, resulting in no one attacking and a tie happening, happened to me once and saw it happen to shurkou recently.
Yeah me too. I got irelia with full speed + corrupt vampiric scepter, when there is only one champion left, irelia stop attacking.
Ok that explains why my double IE Irelia was slacking 😞
I wonder how this bug reappeared. Its very possible that the Designer behind Set 8 Samira is also the one behind Set 11 Irelia.
Does this mean it'll reappear in Set 14 if there's a similar unit?

Did they ever explain why they changed the tattoo of vitality interaction? it was a fun niche strategy, isnt that what tft is all about
Yeah it was a shame since it was very hard to implement since you need the right Inkshadow setup, lots of Belts and an Irelia so hardly a comp that would be forced every game like Fated Dryad
They always do that, they stamp out niche builds ie. Fine Vintage and even back when Clapio was working.
They love to make the game as boring as possible
I wish I saw this video before my latest duelists game, where I went 6th with 8 duelists after I had an Irelia with hoj and IE :(
I am in love with only one item on her and that being corrupted vampiric scepter. It really turns her from being pretty meh (most of the times) into godlike.

Did silvermere dawn stun work with her basic attack
I just played a game with choccs treasures. each team had 4 to 6 blitz hooks. it was maddness. and with training dummies let to crazy interactions. plus some hooks where pulling each other and each swapping places or just meeting in the middle

@@DanTheSpearton Red Buff gives 40% as, so it ramps up guinsoo's faster. But double guinsoo's + red buff should also be fine even though i don't recommend it, triple guinsoo's is always wrong.

I think 2 ginsoos is make 5.0 AS really fast, which is good for fast battle in case of 6-8 duelists, but
you can't get AS more that 5.0, so instead of second ginsoo better take something for AD
my personal fav is ginsoo, runaan's and redbuf or deathblade
Hi Leduck! How does Corrupt Vampiric Scepter interact with Irelia? Does her auto attack do bonus damage & heal her for the damage? And is she able to cast her ability as she has no mana bar?
I think it's quite good on her, you can spot this interaction in next video
@@leduck I have tried it on Irelia with mediocre results. She cannot cast ability just like other units, meaning you would miss out on the big spell damage. Vampiric Scepter is good on Irelia for early fights, but at later stages she just dies from burst, making the omnivamp part subpar.

So this bug is connected to units failing to cast when the target dies
I need you fish out your high speed cameras from the garage and play a guinsoo build on Irelia and measure if the dmg and speed actually increases properly
Wait, but if Wits end doesnt work, then isnt that also a bug? In her ability it reads "Command the blades to swiftly strike the three lowest Health enemies, dealing (300 / 300 / 2000% AD + 100% Ability power icon AP) as physical damage and applying on-hit effects."
So Wits end SHOULD work or Wits end is coded diffrently
Oh in hindsight this was poorly worded, it triggers once on each new unit, same how Tattoo of Vitality works now. The old Tattoo of Vitality worked on each blade, granting her high magic damage.
so for example irelia with ie + red buff + guinsoo should be fine since ie is the only crit item correct ? and we should just look to not itemize any more crit items like guardbreaker or hoj.
or are other damage amp items like db or gs just flat out better ?

I never used IE on her after trying it out earlier in the set. I felt other ad items did more damage and now I know why
Sometimes if you get irellia b4 wolves as they go into stealth her attacks are removed or at the very least invincible
No wonder ive been doing badly when taking jeweled lotus

Hey leduck! Do you know if Silvermere Dawn works with Runaan’s hurricane?
I know the value of Runaan’s lowers because of the fixed attack speed, but stunning two people sounds cool plus Horizon Focus would make a good combo.
Nothing works with Hurricane, all interactions were removed long ago

Honestly, this maybe explains some inconsistency in my Irelia damage. Nice find.
I swear, Mort and his QA team never seem to learn. How do they not keep track of and check for these recurring bugs once found? Multi billion dollar company, and they clearly dont even hold lessons learned meetings for these patches/sets.
I was playing Choncc's treasure and encountered a bug going up against an Udyr with my Irelia.
It was only Udyr left on the enemy team, but as irelia's blade went to damage him he went into his "recovery stasis" at 50% hp. Afterwards, Irelia was animated as if she was weaving her blades, but there we no blades shown and no damage done.
Frustrating as I had a massive winstreak otherwise and lost that round. Items were IE, Guinsoos, GS.
