If you put that old style alternator bracket on the car its going to be a matter of time before it breaks again. You need to put the newer style bracket that was reinforced from the factory. I broke the one on my supercharged 2001 in the same spot.

TFW he had 2 mechanics with him there when they did the heads, cam, blower.... And this isn't a setup that's been done before. I remember cleetus saying "these adapters for the head to the blower are one off. So, like.. leroy's a frankenstein. " So getting the wrong size belt because they were guessing what would be small enough (so it can stretch out and not be too loose) isn't unlikely.
@@SpecialKLSX Everything you said is true, but "guessing" is not recommended. When I became a Gates stocking dealer, the guy who brought all the belts, hoses, and racks also had some good tech tips and tools for me (free when you spend $5000. on belts and hoses lol). The belt tensioner has a working range indicator that looks like this [ - He also gave me a tension gauge tool and some V-groove depth indicators. Check the harmonic balancer to be sure it has not spun on the crankshaft causing misalignment, check for play or bad bearings in all components like the alt, PS, idler etc. Yank on the tensioner to check for wear at the spring section, it should not have any play in the bushing around the spring. If all that is good, and the belt is routed correctly, it won't fall off. Notice that the belt wraps around most of the pulley on the crank, alt, and other loads that require a lot of horsepower to run. Do this and you will get the right belt for all your Frankenstein applications. ;)

That is a good way to suck in the intake valve on that LS3..... Seems like most people don't know about the issue until it is too late. Just like the c6z exhaust valves.
I wonder if they tried routing it wrong. Very common on LS1, they can go 2 ways and they are almost the same distance but not quite. I've seen like 4 of them show up with the improper routing. It puts the belt right over one of the bracket mounting bolts when its routed the 2nd way.
Looks to me like you installed a small belt to help keep that tensioner problem at bay...I warned you a few episodes back, look into the katech manual tensioner. I used to throw belts at high rpm

Because it has an auto tensioner and depending on which pulley you install the belt on last you can slip the wrong size belt on.
