Have the S version, battery died and disconnected it. Have lost lock on everything above 200 MHz. Did download the manual so that's around 600 pages of serious reading. Trying to find a suitable AGM battery to fit in place of the original six D cell size lead acid rechargeables that came with the unit. You mentioned batteries could cause some issues with the rig, unlock on upper freqs perhaps?

The BR2325 battery on the processor board will go dead, or leak over time. This can cause issues. I would suggest you change that battery first. You can de-solder the old one. and mount a holder on the back of the processor board and run the wires around to the front pads. I would cut the battery leads first, then remove the old leads.

      Darrell, thanks for the info!
I will try and locate a suitable replacement for the battery. I am currently in the EU and I will have to check with both of the EU operations of Mouser and DigiKey and see if either has something in stock over here. The joys of lithium chemistry, darn shipping restrictions to get them from the States anymore.
Thanks again for the heads up!
