Great instructional video! I've been fishing Tenkara for around 6 years now, I might tie my knots differently than the next guy or even a Japanese Tenkara master, but at the end of the day i catch fish. as hikers say, HYOH, Hike Your Own Hike. Great product Sam, I understand you are going through a bit rough patch, stick with it. All The Best ~Don
Great video!! I just purchased one tiny ten rod and some line from you. I have a pond here in Spain and I was getting frustrated because I wasn't able to fish all holes with my long tenkara rod. Eager to test it out once it arrives!!!!
Another correction. When tying the hook to the tippet with a clinch knot, you don't use your luck number for the number of turns. To quote the master Lefty Kreh, when tying knots use the number of turns as specified buy the inventer for that type of knot--too few makes a weak knot and too many won't snug up properly. For the clinch knot, the correct number of turns is 5.
You can use a double surgeons for sure. I just use a loop to loop because that way new customers only have to learn that knot and a fishermen's knot to set up the rod.
Hate to correct you, but you do the loop to loop knot incorrectly. For it to end up looking like the correct handshake, you put the line loop through the tippet loop, then put the end of the tippet through the line loop and snug up.
Thanks for the info I've been wanting to get into tenkara 🖒check out my trout fishing video I catch a nice brown trout with my son and wife in southern Indiana
@ 3:49 “... which will be found in your guys’s line holders,” sounds so redundant and juvenile. My little niece speaks that way. Can you just drop the “guy’” word and simply say, “... which will be found in your line holders”? It’s safe to assume that your audience is aware that you are referring to their line holders. Also, the proper word is GUYS’ not GUYS’S.

I want this rod so bad but I’m worried I won’t t be able to reach out into the water far enough with it
Why not use a double surgeons to connect the tippet to the level line?
Just got my first tenkara stoked to try it out!!

Great video. Great rod.
What is your recommendation fish size limit?
David Baird I would think as far as trout I would say no bigger than 10 inches the rod is very stiff
how long i need for the orange Level line?
Days and days

Hope you're not still as big a jerk as you were 5 years ago.
