  • Embark on a journey through the evolution of molecular dynamics simulation as seen through the eyes of Prof. Michael L. Klein. In this enlightening lecture delivered at the MD@60 conference (sites.google.c... ), Prof. Klein offers deeply personal insights into the rich history of this pivotal field.
MD@60 conference was held to commemorate Aneesur Rahman for his pioneering contributions to MD simulation 60 years ago. The conference brought together leading experts, along with the new generation of practitioners in the field, to showcase and explore not only the history of the field but also the latest methodological developments. The meeting was jointly organized at JNCASR, Bengaluru by the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and the Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire (CECAM).

Michael L. Klein is noted for seminal contributions to the field of computer simulation and modeling that have broadly impacted both the physical and life sciences; research that has been recognized by major national and international awards, including the American Physical Society’s award in Computational Physics (1999), the American Chemical Society’s Peter Debye Award in Physical Chemistry (2008), the Boys - Rahman award of the UK Chemical Society (2011), and the John Scott Award from the City of Philadelphia (2020). He is a member of several national academies including, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (2003), the Royal Society of London (2003), the Indian Academy of Sciences (2004), and the US National Academy of Sciences (2009). Notably, he is also an honorary fellow of Trinity College Cambridge (2013). Google Scholar Citations lists more than 1200 publications and abstracts, which have almost 120,000 citations; a portfolio of works that has a Hirsch Index, h = 129.
