My daughter is a sgt. at our county jail and she said “I wished we could do this at our jail.” It really would help everyone.
No good comes out of being locked down for 23 hours a day. It makes people go F-ing NUTS, anyone would”.
If you haven’t been in jail or worked in one, you have no idea how dangerous this is for EVERYONE.
Kudos to this sheriff. This country needs more like him.

I just watched it. A jail trying to rehab prisoners like they do in other countries is a great idea. If they add work training programs, educational programs, and full time psychologists we might actually see a decrease in career criminals for once, like they have elsewhere in the world. I think the sheriff is setting a good example. 🤷 They are still being punished for their crimes, their freedoms have still been stripped, but there is a chance they might come out the other side making better choices, hurting less innocent people in the future than they otherwise would, and costing tax payers less in the long run. We have to face it. Correctional facilities in the USA are a failure... Repeat offenders are a huge problem... We need to try something different.

Outside of US and here, rehabilitation is the goal rather than punishment, and it works, the US has such a high prison population, it's really sad to see, and it was so nice to see them working together, the community spirit was really good, and encouraged them to not mess up. Big fan!

I started the series off thinking, "no way"; and they did disappoint me at times, they did. But then I watched those men grow-- truly GROW as our community needs them to do. I actually shed tears and cried at the end. I truky hope more jails give this a try. Yes, you have to be very picky about who gets to go to the community dorm, because some people just don't want to do better, and those people have to be left behind. But this was beautiful, absolutely *beautiful* to see. I wish every one of those men the best of blessings because this is really for thier children and their families. Thats who needs them to have this opportunity, and they are why this risk is worth taking. ❤

I found disturbing was that prior to the experiment, they said they were spending 23 hrs a day in their cell. Doesn't seem humane

It's JAIL, And can be avoided. It's not rehab or a vacation camp

I always thought it was crazy to lock someone down for that long & not expect them to spazz out like a caged animal. This was a good program & allowed inmates to see that changing their behavior will get them some benefits & make their time go by faster. Hopefully they can apply that to their lives on the outside & realize that their actions choose whether they stay free or go back to jail.

It was phenomenal! Randy Randall was one of the ones that made the experiment successful. A few of the younger ones were hardheaded and stubborn and wanted to do whatever they wanted… especially Eastside. He was atrocious, obnoxious, and a true troublemaker, in the crowd. He did change some, in the end, though.

Great idea, but obviously this wouldn’t work in some prisons.

But this isn’t a prison, it’s jail. So many are confused on how jail and prison are separate institutions. Jail holds inmates that are awaiting trial, waiting to be transferred, or serving out small sentences (less than 1yr). Prison is longterm housing for convicted criminals to carry out their sentence. And actually, prisoners usually have much more freedom than inmates at county jails. The point of the experiment was not to only rehabilitate, but mainly address their obvious understaffing. Not all jails have this 23-1 rule. This is a great idea, and I feel the sheriff’s intent is sincere behind it.

As an ex-CO and also as someone who has been on a so-called reality show...it doesn't sit well with me. We were already explained on what the sheriff expects out of the inmates. We also hear the inmates discuss the rules and regulations. To make the show interesting, of course we will see a few issues to keep us entertained with it. But, we are actually seeing them do a number of things against policies. So aren't we watching the same cameras as the sheriff??? Are or we suppose to be wondering in suspense if the COs saw what we did???

Absolutely one of the BEST 👍🏻 Educational, and Convict Opportunities to live a (somewhat) type of life in Prison. Hands down to Sheriff Higgins! This more than an Experiment is a Documentary.👏🏻 I really hope all Inmates to have the Opportunity in Jail to watch this (Experiment)! I wish the best to those who were part of this filming.

All this does is put inmates at the mercy of other inmates. It's a horrible idea and nothing good can come from it.
