  • IF function comes handy when you need to evaluate a logical condition and quickly find out whether it is true or false. In this tutorial, you’ll see how the function IF helps evaluate whether the sales for a particular month met the goal that had been set. If yes, Excel will display the message ‘Goal Achieved’. If the condition comes out as false, a horizontal stroke will show instead of the message.
    So, how can we use IF Function effectively? Let’s have a look at what the function does, to get an idea in what situations it can be used! IF Function is one of the most popular functions in Excel.

      I think you can edit the top 2 functions instead also, then mark both before you drag down.

    I have an excel question, I want to record the win/loss record of two mini golf players. How do I make a function that finds who has the lower score and adds a win to there win column. And adds the loss to the losing player?

    Nice video great explanation if c3 having exact 60 what happen?

    • @zueripat_btw
      @zueripat_btw 2 года назад

      In this situation --> IF(c3>60, "True", "False") then it displays False because the value has to be greater than 60 but if you use --> IF(c3>=60, "True", "False" ) it displays True because the value of c3 is eqal or greater than 60.

      > means the value on the left is higher , < means the value on the right is higher, >= means that the value on the left is higher or the same as the value on the right and =, = means that both values are the same.

      I was taught in elementary school to think of the symbols like an alligator's mouth....
      >°°,,]^^^,,]~~~
      ~~~[,,^^^[,,°°<
      This alligator is always hungry, so he always wants to eat the bigger number. Now, think : we have 10 apples and 20 apples. Does the alligator want to eat the 10, or the 20? 20, because alligators are greedy like that... so, the answer is:
      10 apples ~~~[,,^^^[,,°°< 20 apples
      10 < 20
      ten is less than 20
      BUT! ...if we reverse the numbers...
      20 > 10
      twenty is greater than 10
      It's the same greedy alligator, but which way does he face? Toward the bigger number.
      We still read the sentence from left to right, regardless of which way the alligator is facing.
      Let's throw in some algebra in there.
      x > 100
      x is greater than 100. therefore, x = 101 or more.
      100 < x
      100 is less than x. therefore, x = 101 or more.
      x < 100
      x is less than 100. therefore x = 99 or less.
      100 > x
      100 is greater than x. therefore x = 99 or less.
      ******
      Now, if > is greater than ("THIS" is greater than "that"), and if < is less than ("this" is less than "THAT"), then if we add an equal sign to it >= is "greater than or equal to" and
      @@superjcool you might be done with 6th grade, but does not the alligator imagery help you figure out which one to use? ;) I'm 44 years old, and I still think of the same tricks I learned in kindergarten, 6th grade, high school, and every trick since. "righty tighty, lefty loosey", "NEWS", "PEMDAS", "blow smoke in red oak", "leaves of three, leave it be"... every trick, no matter how childish, is worth learning and remembering IF it helps.
