  • Tuyugou Maza Village, a natural village under the jurisdiction of Tuyugou Township, Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a traditional Chinese village located at the southern entrance of Tuyugou at the southern foot of Huoyan Mountain, with an area of 12 square kilometers.
Tuyugou Maza Village belongs to the climate zone south of Huoyan Mountain. It is an ancient historical and cultural village that integrates humanistic landscape and natural landscape, Buddhist culture and Western culture. It has a history of more than 2,600 years. It is a typical representative of the village pattern under the background of Islamic culture in eastern Xinjiang, showing the traditional Uyghur style of "ancient village, ancient dwellings, ancient lanes, and ancient trees".
In the north of Maza Village, there are Tuyugou Grottoes, a key cultural relic protection unit in China, and in the west is Hojamu Maza. A large number of traditional dwellings built with raw soil are preserved in the village. It is a model of raw soil architecture in Xinjiang and is known as "China's No. 1 Tu Village".
The village is surrounded by mountains and built following oases. The Subexi River runs through the village, connecting six settlement groups. The cultivated land of the village is distributed near the water, and the houses are dependent on the cultivated land and live by the water. The houses are built on the terraces between the slopes, and are grouped in three or five groups with the undulating terrain, with different heights and blending into the environment. The site selection is a reasonable result of adapting to the slope and valley terrain and the sunny and leeward desert Gobi terrain climate.
The overall layout and architectural form of c'z have no rules to follow. The ancient houses are scattered at the mouth of the valley. Nearly 70 families live together in a staggered and orderly manner along the mountain and river. The alleys in the village are connected in all directions. All the houses are connected to each other, and each household is a unit. From a distance, the whole building is integrated and has distinct characteristics.
