Own a Giugiaro and a recently serviced 9T82 Sportura just like yours. I like “strange” Seikos too. 😁

I have 7 Seikos including a Blue Moon Cocktail Time, a limited edition Presage SARX073 and my precious the Ginza Alpinist SPB259 and I am looking maybe for one of the King Seikos. A well made watch with three days of power reserve and sapphire crystal is never bad. I have decided to move away from them 4r movements. I'm willing to pay a bit extra for the 6r movements and longer power reserves.

My first automatic was the snxs79, gifted by my wife, and my wedding watch was a seiko quartz chronograph :D Had the land tortoise for a while as well.

Presage Cocktail Time range is right up there with Seiko's best. The Blue Moon and the Midnight Mockingbird with the power reserve display come to mind.

Excellent discussion and insight. I am a bit surprised that there’s not much love for the Presage, which IMO is an amazing line. But I get it. They often run a bit big and people have their own biases re the 6R35 movements. Nonetheless, it’s hard to go wrong with a Cocktail Time, for example, at the price.

This is a "feast of recognition" as the Dutch would phrase it. I started out with an SNZG11 big mil, and then ripped through an SKX007, 009, SARB033, 035, 019 Alpinist, Blue glacier Alpinist, Baby Tuna (2 times), SDGM001 Brightz, SBP153 Uemura, White Stargate (2 times), and Mini Turtle that are no longer with me. Even had a 1971 Lord Matic at some point.
At the moment I have limited 1959 Alpinist and King Seiko with the 6L movement, 3 Grand Seiko's (quartz, SD and hand winding), an enamel limited Presage, and the SPB317. It all started with a quartz chrono with integrated bracelet, in titanium, in 2007. Still have that thing too.
But kudos for the Sportura. That is such a weird and wonderful watch.

Too bad Zach did not like the SARX071 as it is a very nice and sporty Presage. I love my black version SARX073, it is a keeper, the dial and indices are fantastic.

Thanks for sharing your Seikos and your Seiko journey. I have managed to pick up 3 Seikos in the last 5 years, including 2 variants of the cult favorite Alpinist, and a King Turtle. What I find is the variety of styles and dial designs make it quite hard not to own a dozen Seikos, but I'm trying not to get too focused on one brand in my collection.

Yes, seiko is changing and usually for the worst, but I’ll always be a fan. When I think of seiko I think of tool watches you wear during anything and pick up scratches and bumps, but keep on going.
Some of the higher end ones appeal to me but most of the time just give me an aluminum bezel and 4R movements that just keep going and can be fixed by any watchmaker.

If Tudor can put punny 2824 movement which is Direct competitor to 6R in their 4300€ Watch I dont see a problem with Seiko. Don’t let me start on Longines,Rado or Tag plastic powermatic variation or Panerai 20k watch with 2892.
Seiko 6L movement which is better than any ETA calibar will be in new Marinemaster 200 and 62 spb model.

I :loved: Seiko but they continually make greedy decisions with reissues etc. and just make me look elsewhere. It was great fun for a long time, but for me that time is over.
