Nice to hear that healthier choices doesn’t mean break the bank. I am really trying to figure out how to budget for my family of 5 adults and be healthy. Since I’m dealing with 18+ year old people I can be little less concerned with them not having what they want 😊. Not in a mean way! Looking forward to some recipes and meal plans with the whole foods mindset.❤
Exactly. And if they are just dying for something……it doesn’t necessarily have to come out of your food budget! 🤪 Thanks. I’m looking forward to sharing some of the things we have been doing!
In my opinion, you've done very well with your budget! Eating healthier is a little more expensive, but when you lessen the amount of junk processed food, it's really a wash. Great job girl
Lane is so overly adorable. im praying for Chris and your family. If you will, keep us in your prayers too. My husband lost his SS. He talked to them about it. They were supposed to only take out a portion. But instead, they're taking it all out for 6 months. Hes working. They overpaid him. Thats going to hurt for a long time. Our mortgage is due now. We won't have anything left after it's paid. If its not one thing, its another. Such as, our dryer quit working. Because of my legs, i cant go outside to hang them up. My wheelchair doesn't go on grass very easily. Thank you so much ❤
I’m so sorry! I will pray for y’all! Maybe you can get an inexpensive clothes hanger for inside or if you have a porch, maybe you can put a line there.
Hi there - this is the first video of yours that I’ve seen, and I’ll be back for more! One thing that I do when I shop is keep a list of the “clean 15” and “dirty dozen” produce in my bag. I’ll spend extra on buying organic of the “dirty dozen”, and not organic of the “clean 15”.
Such good news that you’re feeling better! I really enjoyed this video, it was informative and makes me the solid point that we are what we eat and need to be aware of that we do in fact pay one way or another, in money or in health. I wish Chris the best with his recently diagnosed health challenge. ❤
We are eating much healthier now too. We have an Aldi close by and buy mostly on sale items. Their ad is online starting on Wednesdays. Our local Reisbecks is where we get meat on sale at a low price. Staying healthy if possible, is one way to avoid high health care costs. Don't want diabeties, so eating lower carb (including fruits and veggies). Still eat them, but fewer of them. Intermittent fasting has really helped me lose weight and get healthier.
We spent $1082 in March. Family of 5. We cook from scratch and stock up with sales when we can. No farm animals. Hoping to get the budget closer to $800 for April.
I like that you are genuine. I do not feel intimidated by you as I do with some frugal living channels . You teach and dont preach Thank you. I have cats but no farm animals to feed. I use coupons, buy on sale when I can and because I am low income for $1/ month I can get 7 cans of wer food 3 pounds if dry food and lutter which really helps. My cats are entertainment, security in that they alert me if someone is around, stress relief so are woryh the expense.
Yes, I know what you mean! Our dogs are so good at letting us know what is going on around us. I don't think I will ever want to be without a guardian dog again! Thank you for the compliment. I am glad you feel at home here. Sending love!
Prayers your family will all feel the effects, of a less processed diet. I like that you included the cost of feeding the animals. It’s a lot of care, cost, and time to have a homestead. But the benefits and rewards it provides is priceless. I do have a question on all the milk your cow provides. What different ways are you using it?
I use it mainly for lane and our coffee creamer 😂😂😂 It makes great butter and butter milk. I have made sour cream but I haven’t gotten good at that yet. I also like to make yogurt but have gotten out of that habit. I plan to make soap soon, too!
If you have an instant pot with a yogurt function, that can make sour cream/yogurt easier. Also trying different yogurts as your starter, can make a difference. Do you ever think you will make cheeses? I also made a cream cheese and Ricotta once. Was easy and better than anything I ever purchased from a store. I never got around to using the whey, but maybe someday. I have watch videos that used the whey and left over milk, to cut cost on feeding their pigs. They also used whey to cook with. I didn’t know there was so many different uses for whey. Thanks for sharing all you do. I always learn something new. It has been helpful for this 60+ woman. I love living a simple life. Hugs
@@Sandra-e9e3g I do use my instant pot for yogurt when I make time to make it. It makes it so easy! I need to work on using my milk better……maybe April will be my month 😂😂
I find that when many people talk about the cost of food, they often reference ultra processed foods. Yes the price of food has gone up, but with smart shopping, you can feed yourself and family very well for a reasonable cost. I spend around $400-500/mo on groceries. This is ONLY food items, not other consumable products such as toiletries or paper products. I coupon heavily for all other consumable items.
I loved this video.. have you read the clean 15/ dirty dozen? If not, it will help you know what you can buy that’s not organic. I switched to 💯 clean eating a year ago. I’ve learned how to make fire cider ( which kicked my winter cold) and now I’m researching herbs… dry beans has become a staple for me…💗
Thank you!! I have heard of it but I haven’t looked at it in depth lately. Thanks for the reminder. I tried some fire cider from my friend--that stuff isn’t any joke 😂😂😂
I would say that eating healthy either cost more time or more money. You can make a healthy bread, tortilla, roll, etc from scratch at home cheaper but it takes more time. If you buy the healthy alternative at the store it costs more money. I stock up on things when they are on sale and try to stock my freezer with simple foods that my family likes. Hope that you find a budget that works with your new health goals.
I have been buyiing a lot of produce and less processed foods. I have been stocking up as much as possible and taking advantage of sales. I started that in the beginning of the year and my costs have been lower. I am trying to use older pantry items too. But, overall, I have been eatiing healthier. Thanniks for the video.
Mmmmm. Not great but it definitely lasts longer than a day, so I guess I should be glad for what I get 😬. Costco’s veggies have definitely been more gracious on my lack of good timing on using them up!
Hey everybody! If you are a low income family with children under 5 years old and/or if you are pregnant or have had a baby less than 6 months ago, look into the WIC program! We have WIC for myself (I had a baby 3 months ago), my 14.5 month old, 3 year old, and 4 year old. Together we get $125 of produce each month. We can choose organic! (We live in Alabama.) We also get lots of other great staples that are mentioned in this video! Please check it out and improve your health!

She is a bit thin because of coming out of winter. Jerseys are naturally thin and when they are in milk, they give all they have to the milk bucket. Before she got pregnant last, she was HUGE. It is just part of her nature. But it isn’t disrespectful to notice or ask. I know she looks thin. I also think about the pictures of the early 1900’s when families regularly owned their own milk cows. Those jerseys were thin, too. It’s just the way they are made-they give all they have to their milk. As summer progresses she will look better and I will stop milking her soon, which will allow her to get fat again ❤️
What a kind and gracious answer❤️ I bet you gained a lot of understanding from those of us who aren’t aware of these facts, by how you chose to kindly answer the concern.
@@dawnrobinson3354 thank you for saying that. I appreciate it. I want to be treated with kindness so I try to do the same. There is no shame in not knowing and it is important to ask questions. The OP was very kind I thought and deserved a good answer ❤️❤️
She is a jersey and her breed is just thin. She is a little more thin than I would like because of coming out of winter but she will plump up soon. Also, as she gives milk, she gives everything into it, so when I stop milking her this summer, she will gain all of her weight back. ❤️
She is thin coming out of the winter, but mainly because she is a jersey in milk. Jerseys give all of their fat to their milk. As the summer goes, she will gain a good bit, but also I will give her a break beginning in May and she will plump right back up. Before she was bred last year, she was a big girl! I know she looks bad but she is healthy. ❤️
Sick and tired of being sick and tired! Amen! I thought this style of video was great. Thanks for the recap!
