  • We spent one fantastic week, exploring the streets of Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City.
    Transport from the Airport
Located right outside the arrival exit, we took bus #152 from the airport directly to Bui Vien Street, costing us 5000 vnd p/p and an extra 5000 for our bag. This was an easy, comfortable and inexpensive way of getting into the city. Beware of the aggressive private bus companies touting their services, willing to do anything for you to purchase a ticket, even telling you there is no bus #152.
    Accommodation
We stayed at the Blue River Hotel in Pham Ngu Lao Street, District 1 - 2 minute walk to bui vien street "backpacker street" and in walking distance to Ben Thanh Market. Standard room, costed $23 usd p/n (including breakfast).
We rented a motorbike from the hotel for 150 000 vnd, but we don't recommend it as the street are incredibly choatic.
A good place to eat, would be the "View Garden" in Bui Vien Street, where they have a mixture of both Vietnamese & western food.
For a skybar experience, you can try “Chill Skybar”, only 5 minute walk from the Bui Vien/ Pham Ngu Lao Street . They have a good happy hour mix of cocktails starting at 17h30, with prices ranging from 88 000 vnd.
Sight Seeing: we visited the War Remnant Museum, entrance fee was 15 000 vnd p/p.
Our next city in Vietnam was the beach resort town of Nha Trang, and opted to take a train as opposed to a bus. We purchased our one-way soft seat tickets for 310 000 p/p at the train station, and the journey was 7 hrs. While the train was clean and in good condition, the only issue we had was the many tiny cockroaches that we had to kill.
