La Saponaria sicula è il simbolo del Parco dell'Etna e la si trova fino ad un'altitudine di 2.300 metri. Cresce in cuscini che si stagliano contro la lava nera, fortificando i pendii sabbiosi e ripidi del vulcano. Negli anni ho cercato sempre di non mancare all'appuntamento con la fioritura di questa splendida pianta, ma mi era sempre risultato impossibile riprenderla con condizioni climatiche ideali: fine giugno e luglio qui in Sicilia è un periodo di grande caldo e umidità, assenza di nubi, atmosfera piatta e ovattata. È anche capitato che la Saponaria fiorisse solo per pochissimo tempo e seccasse velocemente, come l'anno scorso. Insomma, di fotografarla nelle condizioni di luce ideali manco a parlarne. Ma questa volta sono stato fortunatissimo perché ho trovato una splendida fioritura e un tramonto super.

Saponaria sicula is the symbol of the Etna Park and can be found up to an altitude of 2,300 meters. Over the years I have always tried not to miss the appointment with the flowering of this splendid plant, but it had always been impossible for me to resume it with ideal climatic conditions: the end of June and July here in Sicily is a period of great heat and humidity, absence of clouds , flat and muffled atmosphere. It also happened that the Saponaria flowered only for a very short time and dried quickly, like last year. In short, photographing it in ideal light conditions goes without saying. But this time I was very lucky because I found a splendid flowering and a super sunset.
