Although I agree, if she was a minor during all of this, I understand how she could change in less than a year. It's actually pretty common, especially with kids who grow up without parental control over the internet (edgy humor at 10 already, needing attention etc.) so I'm not surprised that she turned out to be this way. @@stardxe i agree. while there are obvious differences, the two games are INCREDIBLY similar. even if they aren't direct copies, there are similarities which shouldn't be ignored. i was able to notice them within 5-10 minuets of playing the game. it was so many it made me question 'isn't this just a copy of DTI?'. while i wouldn't consider it a 100% copy, its impossible to say you didn't take any inspiration from it. it at most is heavily referenced. while there are differences, the similarities are unmistakable.
The idea of dressing up to a theme isn't original to DtI. Fashion Famous does the same thing, and the game was released in December of 2016 (Top Roblox Runway Model was released in 2014). Some people grow up in hateful environments. And they dont know the things they do is harmful and hateful until theyre too old. Its not an excuse but it can happen. What she needs to do is acknowledge she was hateful and try to change that. I used to be hateful until i was 16 and a half. about the "young and having a spotlight" thing, while it wasn't as bad, that shit kind of happened to me when i was like 11 to 15 (also on roblox like gigi). I had a theatre on roblox called sunset theatre, our tagline was "Stay shining!". I wasn't the best founder especially at those ages. I was constantly stressed out and when it all got to me, I decided to promote someone else to replace me. I had applications and someone passed because I liked their answers, but people got pissed off at me for it. I succumbed to peer pressure and instead did a popularity vote, where someone who didn't even want to be founder was most voted. then others got pissed at me for THAT. there was no winning. the group had around 700 members but it's fallen to around 500. the group hasn't been active since. if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have done that popularity vote.

At least 10 dollars per person, as most people tend to buy at least VIP. Dress to Impress averages over 30k people at any given point. You can probably assume how much money it makes. There is a reason why minors can be charged as adults in some cases. "I am/was a minor" is not an excuse when you do some really messed up stuff. And 17 is old enough to think about consequences of your actions and how they impact others.
Please keep in mind that the paragraph below is not me siding with everything Gigi has done. It's just one single thing that irks me about people's belief in what they should do via a business standpoint when they clearly don't know what they're talking about. Gigi as a person clearly sucks but when it comes to dealing with no-shows, she has a right to say no even if the reason for the no-show was mental health or something else that couldn't be avoided. As someone who has experience with hiring people, it is not on Gigi to give someone a pass on real life issues getting in the way of doing something that they are paid to do. They are allowed to say no when it comes to rehiring someone especially if that person didn't follow through with what they needed to and has shown issues in the past. Gigi does not need to be hounded for that. To me it didn't sound like 'she didn't give a crap' especially since she stated that if it were real, that they should take a break and go to a therapist. It sounded like she was just done with them and told them why. She shouldn't have to believe someone when they say mental health stuff got in the way when they showed previous issues before. That's not on Gigi, that's on the person who let them down - mental health issues or not, they need to take responsibility. It also sounds like this person wasn't even giving Gigi a heads up before disappearing for long periods of time. That's not a reliable person. She has every right to decline rehiring them. And before someone goes off on me about mental health, I have clinical depression and anxiety (take meds for both) AND I have ADD and Autism. I will always call in when I'm expected to do something for my job when I can't make it for any reason.
I think it was more about her not having any empathy what-so-ever, that and the woman had attempted to self exit (Not sure that anyone attempting to self exit is going to call out beforehand or want to talk to anyone while in a bad headspace that dark, they generally just do the attempt..) and a lot of times, if she was taken to a hospital (pysch ward most likely..) they can actually take your personal belongings (such as your phone) for safety reasons. I’m seeing so many idiots on Twitter excuse Gigi’s actions because she is allegedly still a minor (which I don’t believe has been proven as true). 17 is old enough to know not to make SA threats against another person and to not send p-n to other minors. These are both crimes and depending on where she lives she can be tried as an adult for them. People are acting like every minor is innocent and that they suddenly gain sentience and morals on their 18th birthday. That is not the case.

As far as the confusing explicit content here versing their age...Sadly, I can confirm this is 14 year old behavior. When I was a minor around that age, I was engaging in that stuff because I was curious and found out about it way too early. It's affected me ever since, even now. While I've been coping with this with my fiance throughout my adulthood, it's not easy to cope with being exposed to explicit content from a young age. I think minors do this for a sense of validation and the need to look more "mature" to others. Kind of like how we see some kids saying "I'm like a grown up", stuff like that. There are also minors that over estimate their maturity by simply saying "I've seen it all" which is what I used to say as a minor as well, not understanding the brain isn't fully developed until 25 because I couldn't comprehend the concept.. which I think I'm not the only one who's made that mistake. The behavior Gigi's displaying feels like something is wrong in their personal life that lead up to these events. Maybe a lack of family bonding between parents, but that's only my speculation. There are some strange patterns. While I don't condone Gigi's behavior in any capacity, I hope they are okay.. My heart goes out to the victims that had to endure Gigi's actions. It's REALLY messed up what they did. I hope they can find some peace and move on somehow.
I would say 17 years old is old enough to understand that it's wrong, it's just a year away from being considered an adult. I can get it if it's like actually young, you can genuinely not understand that you are doing something wrong and then you grow up and understand it and regret it. My teen sister got my 20 something y/o behind into this game and I fell in love with it. As soon as my little sister told me about these allegations I was upset. This was one of the games we were both able to bond over and play together since it had remnants of games I grew up playing like Bratz Rock Anglez and Star Doll. My sister has been boycotting this game and I am standing in solidarity with her. It is unfortunate that it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
I think we need to stop excusing minors from so many things. My classmates, who aren’t always the best of people(not that I’m a saint) have not done anything like this! Honestly you cannot use your immaturity at that age as an excuse. @@stardxe i agree. while there are obvious differences, the two games are INCREDIBLY similar. even if they aren't direct copies, there are similarities which shouldn't be ignored. i was able to notice them within 5-10 minuets of playing the game. it was so many it made me question 'isn't this just a copy of DTI?'. while i wouldn't consider it a 100% copy, its impossible to say you didn't take any inspiration from it. it at most is heavily referenced. while there are differences, the similarities are unmistakable.
The idea of dressing up to a theme isn't original to DtI. Fashion Famous does the same thing, and the game was released in December of 2016 (Top Roblox Runway Model was released in 2014).

about the "young and having a spotlight" thing, while it wasn't as bad, that shit kind of happened to me when i was like 11 to 15 (also on roblox like gigi). I had a theatre on roblox called sunset theatre, our tagline was "Stay shining!". I wasn't the best founder especially at those ages. I was constantly stressed out and when it all got to me, I decided to promote someone else to replace me. I had applications and someone passed because I liked their answers, but people got pissed off at me for it. I succumbed to peer pressure and instead did a popularity vote, where someone who didn't even want to be founder was most voted. then others got pissed at me for THAT. there was no winning. the group had around 700 members but it's fallen to around 500. the group hasn't been active since. if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have done that popularity vote.

There is a reason why minors can be charged as adults in some cases. "I am/was a minor" is not an excuse when you do some really messed up stuff. And 17 is old enough to think about consequences of your actions and how they impact others.
Please keep in mind that the paragraph below is not me siding with everything Gigi has done. It's just one single thing that irks me about people's belief in what they should do via a business standpoint when they clearly don't know what they're talking about. Gigi as a person clearly sucks but when it comes to dealing with no-shows, she has a right to say no even if the reason for the no-show was mental health or something else that couldn't be avoided.
As someone who has experience with hiring people, it is not on Gigi to give someone a pass on real life issues getting in the way of doing something that they are paid to do. They are allowed to say no when it comes to rehiring someone especially if that person didn't follow through with what they needed to and has shown issues in the past. Gigi does not need to be hounded for that. To me it didn't sound like 'she didn't give a crap' especially since she stated that if it were real, that they should take a break and go to a therapist. It sounded like she was just done with them and told them why. She shouldn't have to believe someone when they say mental health stuff got in the way when they showed previous issues before. That's not on Gigi, that's on the person who let them down - mental health issues or not, they need to take responsibility. It also sounds like this person wasn't even giving Gigi a heads up before disappearing for long periods of time. That's not a reliable person. She has every right to decline rehiring them.
And before someone goes off on me about mental health, I have clinical depression and anxiety (take meds for both) AND I have ADD and Autism. I will always call in when I'm expected to do something for my job when I can't make it for any reason.
I think it was more about her not having any empathy what-so-ever, that and the woman had attempted to self exit (Not sure that anyone attempting to self exit is going to call out beforehand or want to talk to anyone while in a bad headspace that dark, they generally just do the attempt..) and a lot of times, if she was taken to a hospital (pysch ward most likely..) they can actually take your personal belongings (such as your phone) for safety reasons. I’m seeing so many idiots on Twitter excuse Gigi’s actions because she is allegedly still a minor (which I don’t believe has been proven as true). 17 is old enough to know not to make SA threats against another person and to not send p-n to other minors. These are both crimes and depending on where she lives she can be tried as an adult for them. People are acting like every minor is innocent and that they suddenly gain sentience and morals on their 18th birthday. That is not the case.

When I was a minor around that age, I was engaging in that stuff because I was curious and found out about it way too early. It's affected me ever since, even now. While I've been coping with this with my fiance throughout my adulthood, it's not easy to cope with being exposed to explicit content from a young age. I think minors do this for a sense of validation and the need to look more "mature" to others. Kind of like how we see some kids saying "I'm like a grown up", stuff like that. There are also minors that over estimate their maturity by simply saying "I've seen it all" which is what I used to say as a minor as well, not understanding the brain isn't fully developed until 25 because I couldn't comprehend the concept.. which I think I'm not the only one who's made that mistake.
The behavior Gigi's displaying feels like something is wrong in their personal life that lead up to these events. Maybe a lack of family bonding between parents, but that's only my speculation. My teen sister got my 20 something y/o behind into this game and I fell in love with it. As soon as my little sister told me about these allegations I was upset. This was one of the games we were both able to bond over and play together since it had remnants of games I grew up playing like Bratz Rock Anglez and Star Doll. My sister has been boycotting this game and I am standing in solidarity with her. It is unfortunate that it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

1:12 a “minor” is not an 18 year old, even if they are 17 they are about to be an adult and should take full responsibility.
As a 17 year old, Gigi knew and knows what she has and is doing is wrong. Don't give her benefit of the doubt. She clearly has some issues of being controlling, racist, etc. She should not get a slap on the wrist and hopefully someone else takes over DTI or she loses her platform all together as a form of a lesson.
