I guess you Could argue that Hawaii is outside mainland US buuuut...still...
SandyScissors98 some people don’t consider Hawaii and Alaska to be US states because of a bunch of factors, that may have been what they meant
Krystal B what factors? How is this up for debate? It’s on state maps, but hey have stars on the flag, they get to vote. It’s not something you can agree or disagree with. They are part of the US. That’s just a fact.
Tori Miguel they accept that it’s a state but don’t believe it should be. It’s not like they don’t know that it isn’t, it’s just that they don’t believe it should be. Firstly, Hawaii was its own independent nation and many argue that because of military occupations it still should be. And secondly, many people disagree with the actions that led Hawaii to be annexed by the US. John Green is actually one of the people who deny the legality of Hawaii being a state. As for Alaska, this tends to be more of forgetfulness because Alaska is so separated and US culture/society doesn’t affect them as heavily. This is why you’ll see people say “Hawaiians and Alaskans” rather than American sometimes.

To be honest, when I worked at tech support all of my female co-workers had the "transfer me to a tech support" at least once a day while it only happened with me once in 2 years, and there were actually some cases of people (not only men, but the majority was men) asked to be transfered to a male tech support.
what child over the age of 5 doesn’t know what a tattoo is ? like did all these kids never get any temporary tattoos or have parents with tattoos ?
Apparently every single child that went to the school that woman worked as was mormon
I have a fairly prominent tattoo on my arm and no children have ever commented on it except to say “oh, cool” and carried on with their lives, no kid who’s been raised outside a bubble is going to be shocked by a tattoo
My aunt always hid hers but I knew what it was 😑
Helicopter parents, Rapunzel children.
Both of my parents have tattoos and my dad has A LOT of them. It's also a big part of our culture, most of the men in my family have them and the older women too. There's nothing shocking or weird about people with tattoos. They're just like everyone else but they carry pieces of art on their bodies that often hold dear meaning to that person. Tattoos tell great stories and shouldn't be looked down upon. Also sorry if anything seems a bit off i'm still learning english!
When people criticize these stories for being a little too congratulatory to the writers, I get that and agree. But then people are like, "no one would be THAT stupid!" and that's how I know the people who have never worked the service industry. Sorry man, people 100% are that stupid, pretty much constantly if you work for the public. (thank God I don't work with the public anymore)

I answer and the man asks for “the guitar guy”. I told him we don’t have anyone in specifically for guitars and said something along the lines of “but I could be your guitar guy, how can I help you?” For some reason that set him on a weird transphobic/sexist rant saying I couldn’t be a guitar guy and I sound like a woman and how he is tired of women wanting to be men and vice versa. I put him on hold and called my boss over because he was closest to me and said “some douche on line 1 for you” and walked away. All that for the word “guy”

It's one of the few fields where it's so blatant and shrugged off too. I guess because people have that stereotypical tech support image so ingrained into their mind (even some people within the field have that view too, though I don't know how common that is).
While it only happened to me maybe once or twice (I worked in a company where everybody knew who I was and was lovely, it was usually visitors or outside callers who would be like this), I have stories like this from my buddies and the few times it did happen to me were almost cartoonish (such as when somebody asked me when tech support was coming...when I'd announced that I was there and was half-way through repairing the computer; that was a good one).
@@AllyGatorAnimator Huh.

Funny thing about the sexist one...actually happened to me at my first job at a chain-style gym. I was fairly new so I could only answer basic questions so far. This guy calls and I pick up the phone (and I honestly can't remember what he was asking for) but I knew I couldn't answer his question so I told him to wait on hold while I got my supervisor (a fellow woman) and he refused to speak to her... just straight up told her that he was done talking to women and wanted to speak to a man. So we proceeded to get the only man at the front office to take this call and give the guy the EXACT same answer my supervisor already gave. So...it's possible
Fun side note: guy would have been out of luck if he had called a week earlier, the guy he spoke with was our new boss in training and had just started....our old boss was female

I've had a lot of weird/bad customers in my life, mostly in small towns, but there's one story that stands out. I was working at Walmart putting out picks when this thin older white lady with glasses came up to me. She wanted to know where the plain Ruffle chips were, so I took her to the place where all of the Pepsico-owned chips sat. She stated that she needed 1 normal sized bag of plain Ruffles. We had regular sized bags of the bacon & ranch flavour, a dill pickle one, and buffalo wings, but no plain Ruffles.
Always trying to turn no's into maybes, I pointed out the 6 pack of snack-sized bags of regular Ruffles, she was not having it. That's when out of the corner of my eyes I spotted a party size bag; That was a bag that was 1.5x the size of a normal bag. I picked it up and said, "Here's something!" I thought I'd found the perfect substitution, I was getting ready to pat myself on the back then, the woman clutched her purse in a sort of self-hug, she angrily exhaled and squeaked "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO BUY THAT! I'm not having a party!" I calmly said "No, no, it's not exclusively for parties, it's just 1.5 times the size of a normal bag...." and she stormed off, assuring me that my manager will hear about this.
What did this woman think would happen? Are the secret police gonna knock down her door and demand proof that she's having a party?

The comics are cringey, but as someone who has worked in service for many years, I believe every single one of these narratives. In no way do they even feel far fetched to me.
I haven't even worked in service for years (less than a year, actually), and had probably most of these conversations. And yes, that includes the first one about the Internet.
Had a dude calling in because he "didn't have Internet anymore" - spent half an hour troubleshooting before I came to understand that he'd accidentally deleted the Internet Explorer icon from the desktop. Admittedly he was a pretty old dude but it has been the one time in my life I had that conversation so, yeah, none of these scenarios are that outlandish. These people exist and they are among us...
Yeah 100%! I’m from a small town and we have a large right-wing Population, and I used to work in the electronics department at Walmart which included the photo center. Don’t worry Jarvis, Hamilton is historical fiction, so you’re good.
Davgo02 it’s based off of true events
@@junobuggieee thus the term, "historical fiction"
@@junobuggieee That's...what historical fiction is..
As a Hamilton fan it annoys me when people act as if it’s historically accurate. It is to some extent but it isn’t supposed to be perfect.
Okay sooooooo.... (warning i drag on)
After watching Lin Manuel Miranda's interview with the collegeboard (for APUSH review) I was genuinely surprised to see how much effort he put into preserving the historical accuracy, while also being forced to summarize 40 years of history in around 2 hours. Pretty much, Lin admitte that he took a few of creative/dramatic liberties but many of them seem to be an interpenetration of real events that have either no or no unbiased source.
Also (iirc) historical fiction is when you have a fictionalized story take place in a non-fiction setting. For example, All Quiet on the Western Front is historical fiction (even though many parts of the book are based on Remarque's experiences) because the characters didn't exist. However, Hamilton can't really be considered a historical fiction because the characters in Hamilton, DID exist. Personally, I think of it as a more biographical piece of entertainment. Yes, dramatic liberties are taken but no, it isn't ENTIRELY inaccurate and can be an actual good place to develop an interest in history.
ps. I'm not in APUSH yet, (I'm in AP euro) but I watched the interview because I am genuinely interested in theater and US history (why I'm taking APUSH next year) Sorry for the long-winded comment lmao. :p

You know, no lie, this is honestly how people are and this is what happens to us in retail. I've been in retail for 5 years. Whether you're sales, support or management, you deal with dumb people like this every single day. So yes, from a writing perspective these look bad, but the content is super accurate.
i know these stories have been ~embellished~ but as a person who works in retail, I think Jarvis underestimates the pure stupidity of the general public.
Yeah, Jarvis, hon, I don't think you realize how dumb the general population is :)
I know this is so old but yeah. The more people I interact with the stupider I realize they can be.

the tattoo story was also from reddit
It being relevant doesn't change the fact that the phrasing is bizarre.
Many of our stories are stolen BY reddit actually. But it's true sometimes people submit their stories to both or steal them. Details are often censored or changed by the editors to prevent lawsuits.
Are we sure the whole premise wasn't stolen from a Skittles ad?

does anybody else hate the facial expressions in these comics, specifcally how the lips are drawn?
update: i scrolled thru the page myself and found a genuinely horrible comic that i'm surprised wasn't in the video. basically a customer asks for a non-fat shake, calls the barista fat, so the barista adds tons of extra stuff to the shale to make it >4,000 calories. it's almost certainly fake, sure, but tampering with an order is still an appalling thing to endorse.
I follow the original notalwaysright page, and it's believable, stuff that would happen in retail for sure. The comic page and the new... Uh... Text chats that you see in Hooked app or whatever... Those are awful. Hate em
The mouths are gross
It’s weird. Like... the art is objectively better than what I could do. Way better. The character designs and backgrounds are pretty well done. Colors are good. But then, the angles are sometimes kind of off, and it makes me uncomfortable? And the expressions, even of the “good” character are uncanny and irritating?
It's like the (hopefully fake) story I saw about someone putting cow milk into a vegetarian milk shake because consumer was an asshole. Who cares about lactose intolerance? People always choose vege drinks because they're vegetarians. No other reasons needed
@@adeer87 it has an uncanny valley feel to it. It tries to be quite realistic while having a cartoonish style???

as a former teacher with tattoos, the first part of the teacher story is super believable. kids love touching tattoos. the rest is for sure bullshit, never have I ever had anyone say anything remotely close to that in all my years of having tattoos lmao
while watching this, i have slowly realized that jarvis did not make the connection between “not always right” and all the customer service stories.... Jarvis, honey, it means “the customer is not always right”
Fist story about the girl working at a school:
being in a relationship with someone who works with kids all day, i would say having a change of shoes or any other clothes for that matter is not the worst idea you can have, the younger the kids are the more important it is. Also kids would definitely be curious about tattoos if they dont know anyone with tattoos. They wanna touch couloured hair, piercings, earrings, and pretty much anything they dont know. last part is for little kids , obviously. so id say the story up to that point seems legit. and there are some entitled AF parents out there.
Thundermikeee wow
Isn’t borderline illegal to let a kid touch you? Like my teachers had tats but if it wasn’t on their hands past the wrist I couldn’t touch. What the heck?

Spanish and Hawaiian aren't even related languages. Spanish is Indo-European with Arabic (Afro-Asiatic) Influence, and Hawaiian is Austronesian. So its not like confusing Spanish-Portugese, or Spanish-Aragonese, she is just next level ignorant. Just hears foreign language and thinks Spanish.
i mean, i think it also has to do with the fact that "Aloha" and "Hola" happen to sound vaguely similar. still very ignorant, seeing as she literally travelled there, though
"I'm an adult! Don't you judge me!"
Eh. I can see this happening. This is the perspective a lot of middle-aged people have toward 18-30 year-olds.
Few years ago I had one middle aged woman tell me online I don't have the right "mentality" as her (because, you know, younger) just because I disagreed with her on a subject. So if you're older, you are always right or what?! (It was also a stupid fight, a TV show or whatever)
My mom told me once when I was 11 and she was 30 that all young people are stupid because I told her I wasn't that big a fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I remember that every time I get into these scenarios. I still don't like that movie, and now that I'm almost 30 I try never to talk to younger folks that way.

Men are pretty much always wrong. On twitter their stupid repeal the 19th amendment trend is wrong. Men always calling woman dishwashers and saying they belong in the kitchens is wrong. Men taking advantage of girls saying it’s because the girl was asking for it with the way she was dressed was wrong. Men are so ignorant and seem to never learn. You can try if you want to change my mind but I don’t care I will never change my mind 🖐🙄🤚 because I’m so done with what’s going on rn and I just needed to get it out after what u said. Lmao sry no hate to u tho
I'm sure the guy means whenever in these comics there's an interaction between a man and a woman. All the Karen comics are between two women. Then again, I haven't seen other comics in this series, so who knows? Then there's Elizabeth Gallagher up here, propping up her ignorance and being proud of it, which sort of shows that guy has a valid reason to complain.
