    • @jonathanviolaa5053
      @jonathanviolaa5053 3 года назад +6

      Yeah because the MMLP is widely recognized as one of the greatest hip hop projects of all time, which influenced the majority of the 2000s to 2010s rap scene to innovate it to being one of the biggest genres of music today in the United States. Whereas, Two Against Nature is arguably Steel Dan's worst project, did nothing for the genre of rock, with minimal influence towards the future. Plus the MMLP is a certified diamond record, that sold 21 million copies in relation to the million copies that Steely Dan sold. So yeah Eminem fans have the right to be mad over Steely winning, as do Radiohead fans because Kid A was a record that was infinitely better than two against nature, that actually did something for rock in the 2000s. Two against nature is no aja I'm sorry.

    • @semi-mojo
      @semi-mojo 3 года назад +6

      @@jonathanviolaa5053 I think Kid A having such an influence is more so proof that mainstream is just really stupid/dumb. Was it more influential than 2 Against Nature? Yes. Was it as good? Subjective. Was it as intellectually stimulating? Hahahahahahaha.

    • @jonathanviolaa5053
      @jonathanviolaa5053 3 года назад +1

      @@semi-mojo I mean all music is subjective right but I dunno in comparison to other Steely Dan projects, its nowhere near his best work for me, Aja runs circles around it. Kid A and the MMLP are pinnacle Radiohead and Eminem, either one should've got it imo

    • @cactaceous
      @cactaceous Час назад

      @@jonathanviolaa5053Let’s not forget that Two Against Nature was up against Kid A, Midnite Vultures by arguably one of the most important artists of the 90’s Beck, Paul Simon and Eminem. Kid A is by far the best album of them all. Eminem is just if it’s era. It has not aged well and actually sounds like a joke now. At 19 it was fun. Now I’m 45 it sounds stupid. They gave it to Steely Dan because it’s a good album but they certainly were above and beyond music in the 70’s and it had been 20 years since Gaucho. To come back after those years and deliver is still impressive.

Kid A, Amnesiac, and TKoL Just never clicked and Eminem will forever be bad to me because the people I knew that worshipped him in middle and high school made it impossible for me to like him

I was lucky as a ten year old to be allowed into A&R Recording Studios back in the late 60's early seventies when Elliot was recording James Brown. @@harman6283 Kid A sold millions of digital and physical copies separately. Kid A also revolutionized several genres to come, including electronic, art rock, post-rock, experimental, etc. Steely Dan is irrelevant. they’re still a good band, but comparing one of their albums to Kid A is just stupid.

      @clurgee4923 Steely Dan revolutionised Jazz Rock and were a huge influence on rock artists that came after. I'd say they're the most meticulous band ever to grace the earth. Their talent is just amazing and everybody who played on their songs was insanely talented. They deserved the Grammy for all the music they've brought to us since the early 70s. Just go and have a listen to 'The Royal Scam' album, particularly the tracks ' don't take me alive', 'haitian divorce' and 'kid Charlemagne' and come back to me.

      @@clurgee4923 One thing is to say that Two Against Nature isn't one of Steely Dan's strongest albums. But from that to say that they're "irrelevant", that's simply erratic.

    This was a huge mistake…the Grammy Awards panel chose Dan rather than M&M.. let’s be serious the top selling record of that year and that years triple award winner loses to the Dan..
