Leo is my favorite characther from Fates (Xander is a close 2nd), as a unit I always switch him to Sorcerer because he gains Mg and Spd without losing too much bulk, he performs well, he is tankier than Ophelia!Elise and I can count on him. I never thought about this strategy, it's true that he can gain access to the Samurai line which is something I never use I don't know why. • @spicybrad
      @spicybrad 3 года назад +1

      Dropping in to say Silas to Mercenary (Sol) ahead of Master Ninja Silas.
      I also flip Xander and Camilla to Mercenary through Friendship seals (Laslow and Selena) and use two more seals to flip them to fliers ahead of Chapter 20. Mozu to Archer and Paladin Jacob get my other two.

    • @cartooncritic7045
      @cartooncritic7045 3 года назад +6

      @@spicybrad I say Camilla can chill as a Malig Knight just fine without too much reclassing until Chapter 20. Her bases, starting class, and personal skill are so good that she barely has to do too much fighting and still be one of your best units. If you're going to reclass her to Hero, I actually recommend she Friendship Seal Beruka instead for the Fighter tree; the skills might not be as good pre-Sol, but you'll get access to Berserker's Axefaire in the late-game and that'll add extra oomph to her axe combat. Similarly, Xander doesn't need to touch the Wyvern tree until level 11, by which point he'll have been arguably better (in terms of pure combat) as a Hero with Seigfried than he would be as a Malig Knight, which once again he can wait until after Chapter 20 for. That frees up two extra Heart Seals for other units.
      Jakob doesn't really need to be a Paladin to be a good unit in the early game. Dagger utility in the first few chapters is exceptionally useful in Attack Stance in order to raise Weapon ranks on your other units, like Silas's Lances, Corrin's Swords, or my first pick for that first Heart Seal, Elise's Axes. Wyvern Elise is almost kinda silly in how good it is; her physical damage gets carried hard by Strength Tonics and competent forges, but she'll still be able to keep up and get kills when necessary, and she'll even build her Axe rank up enough for the Bolt Axe in the midgame, which I can attest to being really fun to use. This also lets her pass Lunge (or Trample if you want to wait an eternity) to Ophelia later on, because let's face it Elise is going to be Ophelia's mom if you plan to recruit her anyway.
      So that frees up a couple of extra Heart Seal uses for the midgame. IMO using at least one of them on Odin is basically necessary if you want to pass Vantage to Ophelia, though when this happens is up to the player. The last one can go to whomever you want, though since we're assuming those Friendship/Partner Seals are getting used up by Xander or Camilla, Corrin wouldn't be too bad a pick if your talent was something really useful and carries over Corrin's sword rank just so I could use the Yato for something like Cavalier or Ninja.
      Anyway, this has been my TED Talk taken from literally 100s of hours of experimenting with Conquest, and take my advice at your own discretion, but I like to think what I've said is decently helpful.

    • @spicybrad
      @spicybrad 3 года назад +2

      @@cartooncritic7045 I should probably clarify that my strats really focus on consistency and bulk since I’ve been running Iron Mans for a while, and I’m simply not good enough to reliably make it through Chapter 10 without the Jacob cheat. I always push Camilla and Keaton together and Camilla inherits the first Fighter skills from him while she’s still a Hero once she hits S support there. She spends a lot of time in Hero and that definitely hurts her overall utility, but she also can’t be killed thanks to Sol and that’s a worthy exchange to me (plus archers x fliers in an Iron Man are easy to overlook and have gruesome results, so I actually only ever have a couple fliers at a time anyway and I play sloooooowwwww)

    • @cartooncritic7045
      @cartooncritic7045 3 года назад +2

      @@spicybrad If you rely so much on Jakob, you can get similar results without wasting a Heart Seal by just Partner Sealing Dragon Talent Corrin and get to the really good shit faster. Chapters 7-9, Paralogue 1, and Invasion 1 I truly do think the Attack Stance chip and Weapon EXP boosting is invaluable on Lunatic and using that Heart Seal elsewhere is IMO a much better investment than Jakob blowing his load that early. Silas can still do a lot of the same things Pally Jakob can for free if you know how to utilize Vow of Friendship properly.

    • @spicybrad
      @spicybrad 3 года назад

      @@cartooncritic7045 I’m constantly trying to derive a way to reliably clear the early game without burning that seal, but I also go with Samurai as Corrin’s secondary talent so as to stack damage and trivialize Garon + endgame, so I’m just kinda picking my poison there. Paladin Jacob definitely feels like the major area of optimization that needs to be improved, but he just makes chapter 10 soooo easy and it’s always tiresome to re-play the first 10 -11 maps when I get too cute during that defense chapter. I’ll probably do some dry runs in the coming months to see if I can reliably push to the spawn points with Butler Jacob (but I also have to say that his flat + 5 to def/resistance as a Paladin pair-up is so damn useful that I’m starting to doubt that i’ll try to move away from it even as I type this)

    Here you show that Leo pairs with Beruka for Malig Knight access, which I really like. But how does Forrest feel about having Beruka as a mother? Does it impact him in a severely negative way, or is his utility still intact?

    • @maagic2031
      @maagic2031 3 года назад +4

      He's slower than Felicia!Forrest, but if you can keep him out of doubling range, he's a lot bulkier. Besides that, Forrest doesn't change too much. I don't think the differences in magic base and growth are substantial enough to drastically alter his performance as either an attacker or staffer.

    • @samthomas7253
      @samthomas7253 3 года назад +4

      he gets more skill, which is good if you want him to use offensive staves like enfeeble, entrap or freeze. Having those being reliable is a godsend if you want to do endgame normally, or just add more reliability to late game strategies

    • @henrygutierrez3243
      @henrygutierrez3243 11 месяцев назад

      You're trading higher magic and slightly higher speed and res for higher defense and skill. The offensive staff hit is about the same since the higher skill cancels out with the lower magic. Really he's just a worse healer that's hitting less hard with tomes which is a very bad thing since he'll start from E rank, and he'll tank hits better but be more prone to being doubled. Imho, I'd take the higher magic and speed over skill and defense. If you're using Forrest primarily as utility instead of heavy offense, he's likely not going to get the support necessary to prevent him from being doubled, and his defense won't be so high that he'll be taking hits amazingly. Overall, Beruka a very bad mom for him.

    >Tomes (Nyx and the fact that odin is terrible at everything he does)

      @@HanakkoLove Odin’s growths are fine for what they are, better than Nyx’s growths that’s for sure.
      Also I didn’t say he could solo those entire chapters; I said he could solo dangerous enemy swarms in those chapters. In 10 he can gun straight for Takumi and have him and a bunch of Oni Savages dead before the water gets drained. In 11 he can handle Setsuna’s Archer room, Rinkah’s Oni room, and even the Samurai room on his own with some tonics and a Wyvern Guard Stance partner. In 12 he can one-round every single Apothecary on the map with a forged Thunder tome. In 13 you can airdrop him into the middle of Takumi’s side of the map and he’ll just devour that entire squad with Nosferatu. All of that is with minimal investment before even getting into the shit he can do with reclasses. Nyx can’t do any of that even in her dreams.

    • @HanakkoLove
      @HanakkoLove 3 года назад

      @@cartooncritic7045 >chapter 10 gun straight for takumi
      Impossible because that side is filled with Ninjas and Spearmen. Effie + Arthur and Niles deal better clearing the path. For the Oni Savage, again, depends a lot on his Defense which if you don't get good level ups no way in hell he'll be able to hold up.
      I didn't comment chapter 11 because that place is a joke. Anyone can solo parts of it.
      >In 12 he can one-round every single Apothecary on the map with a forged Thunder tome.
      I really need to emphasize that he will need a LOT of defense. And we need to make sure what apothecaries are you talking about. Are you talking about the Apothecaries that deal 26 Damage at base and are in many groups therefore very hard to deal with? Do you mean ones with spendthrift that- no. You shouldn't be talking about them because they will absolutely evaporate Odin. Worth noting that they have 8 Res, 9 spd and 28 HP, you better have a really well invested (and lucky) Odin to hold that up and pray to always crit them, because if you don't kill them some of them can lunge you into oblivion death.
      > In 13 you can airdrop him into the middle of Takumi’s side of the map and he’ll just devour that entire squad with Nosferatu.
      No, no... First you need absurdly high Mag and Def, because if you think Odin can recover the damage the >knights< >diviners< and >takumi himself< are able to lash out, you better have the best Odin in the damn game. We are talking about scenarios where if you don't hard invest into him, he will barely come out on top if even. Makes you think if it's really worth giving the Exp to him when other units can perform the tasks you mentioned but with better long term staying.
      And no... I'm not talking about Nyx because she also sucks, difference being that she has better mag and speed than Odin which arguably are all a Sorcerer can use since they are way too frail to function. If you make Odin a samurai you are already using 2K for a unit that can only use Brass Weapons thus not making use of his niche... Nyx is bad but her early game utility is already good enough to make her stand out in comparison to Odin

    • @cartooncritic7045
      @cartooncritic7045 3 года назад +5

      @@HanakkoLove I’m playing Conquest Lunatic right now and my Odin is on par with his averages in Dark Mage alone. He was able to do all of those things I just mentioned and the only major investment I put into him was the Chapter 11 Spirit Dust because nobody else wants it at that point. You are right in that Effie and Arthur are capable of clearing out Hinata and the blue enemies on the way to Takumi, but it’s not like Odin can actually die to any of them since Nosferatu heals all of the damage they can do to him. The Apothecaries around the pots were mostly fodder for Odin; the only real dangerous ones with the Spendthrift guys but they couldn’t touch him without hitting the Dual Guard and he still one-rounded them in return with that forged Thunder. The reinforcements were easy pickings for him. And Takumi was dead on Turn 1 EP in 13 since I attacked him first everyone else just decided to surround Odin and give him a bunch of free Nos heals, including Reina whom he killed on Turn 2 PP.
      Even if you ditch him after those chapters that’s still way more than what a lot of non-Royal units can contribute in that same span of time unless their name is Silas.
