Love the 6th Sense Cloud 9s and DDs. Lots of options for silent giant crankbaits, and they come with great hooks out of the box (the magnum squarebills are sick). Silence is also why I really like the DTs, though I'm usually fishing 6's or 10's. They don't veer off as much as the deeper divers when you bring them up to the boat in my experience. But I catch fish on DTs in places where basically no other cranks catch fish. For me, they're worth the time and money expended to swap hooks. Besides the subtler action on retrieve, they also float up slower than plastic baits. Great for when you are stopping the retrieve and don't want something to just blast off when you stop reeling.
Awesome to hear about you collaboration with JT, I am looking forward to all the great information we all will get watching the very informative videos! Thank you BOTH!
First of all, awesome video bro. Second, I like to run a composite rod for my smaller shallow running cranks because of fear of straitening out the smaller hooks, and the more parabolic action of the rod helps keep to them pinned, but for my deep cranking I go back to pure graphite for the sensitivity because I don't have to worry about straitening out the more stout hooks that come on the big cranks. Oh, and the garage looks great dude.
Dude this is the video I’ve been needing to see! I’m trying to get into deep diving cranks. Typically I crank less than 10’ so this is great info for me! Keep the content coming.👍🏽
6xd, 10xd, Dt10, Dt20 are my go to deep crankbaits if they dont bite one of those i go straight to jigs,10in worms, wobbleheads, shakeyhead, carolina rig, and if that dont work its either the dropshot, neko rig, and ned rig for last resort. Ive caught bass on other brand crankbaits big name companies but the cranks never out performs my XD series i can catch bass on the baits and do good but i always catch more on the 6xd idk why thats the best deep diver in the world imo everyone needs one imo
I’m just starting into deep cranking. I ordered a 6 Sense Lux 7’11’ med-heavy mod and a Abu Garcia Revo Winch 5:4.1 reel i hope that’s not going to be to slow of a gear ratio. One of the main lakes I fish there is a lot of opportunity for deep cranking and I’ve never capitalized on it. That’s going to change this summer and I’m hoping for a new PB by the end of June.
Man other than some bandito bugs, all my tackle is 6thsense. Flat catches em! Crush, cloud & them lipless flat 75's & square bills catch em too. Love em or hate em Milliken has taught me a mess. All I did before is beat the bank...
GREAT video!! What about throwing silent crankbaits? Everybody and their brother is making noisier and louder baits and everybody and their brother is using them.
The lake I usually fish rarely has a spot holding fish without at least some sparse grass you'll hit on a bomber cast. Do you deal with the grass and keep pulling it off every cast, or go with a different style bait?
I love your videos man. I bought some 6th sense C25's and once I got them in I was wondering if they were too big and if I should have bought the C20'S. What is your thoughts on this? I bought some C15's also. I went fishing with my buddy and I thought we were using C25's but they were C20's.
@@bradleysmith3639 dude I can not tell you the times I have dedicated my on the water time to strictly fish and understand crankbaits in deep and shallow water, clear and stained water and everything in between, I have beat the living hell out of some of these baits, slow, fast, semi speeds, different rods, lines and reels, I honestly believe that current has more to do with a successful crankbait outing than any conditions one can think of, it’s not that I haven’t been successful but for all of the investments of time (which far outweighs the monetary investments) I just can not get the bites everyone portrays that crank baits actually do, I believe what I personally have fault with may just be color choice or areas/systems in which a crankbait is a better choice, meaning, I probably need to move to Tennessee 😂😂😂😂
Trust me dude it ain't where you live I live in Louisiana and we're lucky we got two feet of water sometimes it's just easier to do something else I understand your frustration it's like that with worm fishing with me I've learned through the years I'm not an old person I'm just 40 but I have learned listening to other people with they catch and what they did I've learned at least eight or nine times out of 10 they're really just giving you a fish story crankbaits have their time and place just like everything else making something work when it's not supposed to work that hurts your confidence and one thing I have learned you must have confidence in what you do I don't know if you've tried this but I have had some success with this it's the treble hook with the spinner blade on the end you put it in the middle I actually think they think it's another shad or something and they they wind up hitting it more than any other treble hook but in Louisiana our water is usually Brown or you just can't see anything it's good for red fishing but not so good for bass fishing I hope you keep up and keep trying
@@bradleysmith3639 My friend I thank you for the encouragement, I never “give up” on anything and that’s to a fault designed in my DNA graciously passed on to me by my father 😂😂 I have spent years (sometimes a whole week at a time) trying to get a grip on crank baits, every once in a while around this time of year I will pick up some tid bit of information that will ultimately drive me back to trying to figure this technique out, in particular the deep diving baits because to be honest that is where my strength lies within the offshore realm of bass fishing, although, I am becoming more versatile since joining my first bass club and doing quite a bit of shallow water stuff too, not my cup of tea but I do like it. Have no fear my friend, I have not relinquished my fight with my nemesis, I have merely put it aside until another opportunity presents itself, I’ll be back out there with new arsenal, strategic planning coupled with the patience of Jobe for those days of learning on how to beat this foe of mine, until then, tight lines buddy, best of luck and always be safe out there but most of all, I hope you have fun !!!
Great video Mikey 👍 I’ve learned a lot from them! I custom paint crankbaits and I’d love to send you some just to say thanks! If your down let me know.
Cranking is the deal! Aside from topwater, it's hands down my favorite technique😎🤙 I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention any of the Dredgers. They'll run 25ft and it's a smaller size bait instead of the monster 10XDs and Azumas
Hey Mikey, I REALLY need your advice on my approach to crankbait fishing. I recently purchased a ton of Berkeley Dredgers....l mean ton, Walmart was closing them out for $1.00 ea. so I bought them all about 50 or more. Most of them are the 25.5 ft diversbut I havesome 17.7 as well. How do you feel about this crankbait? My plan is to stay with this one bait and teach myself to fish crankbaits, I am new to crankbait fishing and using your channel to learn how to do it....Please be honest about this bait I don't want to waste my summer. Love the channel you have taught me alot!!!
One thing I think Noob's would like to hear is how hard these really deep divers pull. It was surprising to me when I tried a 10XD. 🤔 And how many you loose to the Great Abyss!
Dude been fishing dd22s for over 30yrs little tip spray them black with red belly or black orange as the sun starts to set hang on kick ass. My son is going to kill me!
So weird man...I've been a subscriber for a while and just realized youtube unsubscribed me...I was wondering why I wasnt getting your updates. Well...I'm back and got a handful of vids to catch up on! LoL
You may be able to get it there on a MAG cast or longlining but you're not continually hitting bottom that deep that's kind of what I'm talkin about. You can hit bottom quick and grind with a 6XD in about 10 to 16-17.
Great video as always. Too many commercials. Now i NEED a boat so I can use this info lol I have a few deep cranks but that's just because I'm a bait junkie, they dont get much use from the bank... honestly crankbaits are probably my least productive bait and also the bait I own far more of than any other category🤪😂
Did you say "Deep diving crankbaits. I've got a lot of em, 2 boxes". That's cute. Hold my beer while I pull all these crates out. Just kidding. Great video.
Is that a pair or Borat underwear on the peg board? Lmao nice touch, made my morning 😂🤣😂
Same 😂 gotta keep the Googanizers away somehow out there on the water
first thing I noticed as well, nothing puts you on a giant sack than a teal banana hammock!
You noticed that too.
You boys better be taking notes because this dude wrote the test on deep cranking 🥶
Smart man got my pen, pad and coffee the best tip imo was 6xd, 10xd in green gizzard shad!
Absolutely, this man is the ONLY reason I even find offshore fish.
I've always had awesome luck on Bill Norman DD22''s. It's also a great pike bait.
Dude you definitely know your deep crank baits! Great video. Glad your setting up to do more of this style video. 👍🏻

Awesome to hear about you collaboration with JT, I am looking forward to all the great information we all will get watching the very informative videos! Thank you BOTH!
Great stuff bro! I'm lacking in the deep crankbait game. This helps me a lot.
wheelhouse content from Mike. By far, the best video ive watched in months!!!

As advertised! Love the in depth garage talk. Thanks
Very timely video for me personally, just started dabbling with deep cranks. Excellent info 👊.
Awesome breakdown. Very helpful and interesting. Thumbs up Dude.

CERTAINLY INFORMATIVE 👍👍👍… I use same reel, need some of those handles though
That organized garage looks awesome 👍🏻 Always enjoy the gear videos
Ony took all afternoon 🥵
Great content brother, I always learn a thing or two when you do the garage/boat talks.
Best channel for real fishing!!

I heard about this video on a live stream recently 😀

This overview was helpful. Thanks man
Fantastic breakdown of types, why, where without the FBS!
Just to be clear on the big deep divers, the c20 and c25 are Cloud9 series cranks, not Crush. The Crush series are the 300DD and the 500DD.
Great video Mike
ever consider braid or braid to leader when cranking? Why or why not?
Like the new concept! Good content as usual!! Keep it up brother!! 👍🎣
Crazy amount of knowledge man. I’ll be messing with deep cranking very soon. 10xd hasn’t got me a fish, yet.
Glad you mentioned the reel handle. I need one of those!
They make a big difference with deep cranking. I dont have the hawgtechs but im sure they all are good
Great information
My favorite video so far bro 🤘
Good stuff Mike thanks for the info .....

Great video dude.
Goat of cranking!!!
GREAT video!! What about throwing silent crankbaits? Everybody and their brother is making noisier and louder baits and everybody and their brother is using them.
Those Rapala DT colors are Green Gizzard Shad & Big Shad. They are Ott's Garage colors. Great video man! The knowledge you drop is $$ 🔥
The Borat swimsuit in the back. LOLOLOL!!!
Thanks Mikey love the videos piece out
Rapala also calls that 'green gizzard shad' and the color on that other purple one is 'big shad'
Enjoyed your video. You’re the man!
Hello I watch your channel and was inspired to build a PUNCHING ROD haven't had the chance to use it but will let you know the results 😎
Any thoughts on the Berkley Digger or Dredge?
have you tried the Mann's E-Z 30+? I like the dredger too but berkley wont make a silent version which i think would be killer for clear lakes
No I need to order some they look pretty cool
Excellent can't wait 👍👍👍
Great stuff Mikey. I like the NFBS series. What’s up Bog
The lake I usually fish rarely has a spot holding fish without at least some sparse grass you'll hit on a bomber cast.

We need to go deep cranking on PW
I love your videos man. I bought some 6th sense C25's and once I got them in I was wondering if they were too big and if I should have bought the C20'S. What is your thoughts on this? I bought some C15's also. I went fishing with my buddy and I thought we were using C25's but they were C20's.
Dude you got to get some DD22'S. (Old school, i know) beleive it or not its been my best cranking secret last 2 years!
I will had a couple buddies say the same thing
@@mikeybalzz color I use is "spring craw" kills it when fish are on blugill or big rusty crawfish.
@@billgibson9968 nice i love that color on a dt6!
Best cranks ever made in my opinion.
I live in N Florida lake George, Cescent lake, StJohns river will this work in this darker water?? Getting really tired of Carolina rigging!!lol
What about the Berkley 20.5 and 25.5 cranks? Have you used them much? I seen one hanging in package behind you.
Hello sir! Do you mostly through these deep cranks with rattles?
Those Azumas look kind of like the old Poe cedar crankbaits.
My arch nemesis “the crank bait” I’m gonna have to try again before I give up on this technique after watching this video, thanks bro !!
Stop and go retrieve or Paul's is the best way running into logs and timber will always help remember when it's dark muddy water you won't rattles
