I really enjoyed listening to these podcasts. Thank you for all your kind teaching. I would like to explain why Koreans give toilet paper to moved relatives as a present. The ancestors of Koreans believed in lots of superstitions. Giving toilet rolls is one of the superstitions. In Korean ‘be loosened’ and ‘solved out’ is the same pronunciation as a homonym. You can say ‘풀리다-Pullidah’ in Korean. The toilet paper has wishes that ‘I hope that all your house works and problems will be solved out well as a toilet paper be loosened well.’ When Koreans were invited by relatives who moved to their new house, the people invited would give them toilet paper with lots of wishes and blessings. That tradition continues to this day. Not only just a productive present, but also has abundant blessings.
I just love listening to Dalya & Stephanie's podcast. love their chemistry! The way they talk is just peaceful and calm, and cute as well :)! Every time I listen to their podcast I just feel their good personality, too. It became one of my favorite routines to play the podcast from Britcent. haha I am looking forward to listening to the topic of the Christmas XD! About today's topic, um.. yes people do sometimes giving money as parents' presents but It is also considered like half-hearted or insincere presents to some people (for example, I wouldn't recommend giving money as your friends' birthday presents, if you want to give them money, I think it is better to ask what they want to have or whether they are okay to be given the money as their presents) If you are living far away from your friend or family, maybe it could be an option sending them money on special day. but even to parents, if I have to give them money (because they need pocket money), I will give them money WITH PRESENTS!, Giving them just money without flowers or presents on their birthday would be not VERY lovely or special I would say :). But apparently parents in Korea they do love to be given money. I could't deny that fact XD
