At 3:09 regarding the "infamous white box", lol, you have the right tool (a knife/razor blade), however, on the other side carefully slice off the 4 tangs that keep the plug from pulling out the back and then push it out from the front (plug) side. It'll take a bit of force to get it moving but it will come out cleanly as long as the 4 very thin tangs are cleanly shaved off. I believe it will be re-useable if you do this carefully, but may require a small screw if your plug fits loosely.
Yeah once I get the engine mounted it'll be next. But most likely going with something like Painless or EZ universal wiring kit for the body wiring. Then likely a custom made one for the engine harness
@@windows_down_ I’m building my 280z at the moment. You’re videos are helping out a lot. Where are you going to get a custom wiring kit for the engine ?
Here's a tip on removing the steering wheel. Instead of taking the nut all of the way off, leave it 1/2 to 3/4 on. Then you can pull on the steering wheel or hit it on the back side to knock it loose. The nut will keep the wheel from flying off and hitting you in the face.
I have not ordered one yet. It'll be pretty far down the road. But if you Google it, there do appear to be some aftermarket ones and reproductions. No idea on quality or fitment tho

The one person who knows how to work with it haha. It was a pain
Holy smokes, you really are tearing that Datsun down! Can't wait for the next episode💪🏻!
California sun did not go easy on that dash 🔥🔥
Yup, not a full restoration but I keep finding I have to tear into it more, and yes that dash is in rough shape!
Can you tell me where you’re gonna get the new wiring kit or are you planning to use the same one ??

I think Wiring Specialities will hopefully be able to help me out or at least get me at a good starting point
Great content thank you for putting it up this will help me a lot!!
Glad it helps!
Great content, it’s helping me with my tear down. What’s your plan for replacing the electrical system?

Smart, I shoulda done that!
been following along, I am hoping to update my 260z with modern wiring. Keep up the tutorials.
Thanks Ivan, soon I'll be picking out new wiring as well. Do you have a specific wiring kit or setup you plan on going with?
2:52 Do you have a video or can explain how to go about removing the center console?
Do you have to remove the engine to take out the chassis harness
By chance, did you find a new dash? If so, where?

What you planning to do for fuse and relay box ?
I'm leaning towards using one of the off the shelf wiring kits like EZ or Painless which has a cheap fuse box. May use solid state relays
What cover do you use???
i’m trying to think of how hard or easy it’d be to get a 300zx speedometer inside the 280z rn
