You are in Urumqi and found nothing out of the ordinary and this Zenz was never in Xinjiang and reported all kind of frightening things going on there. Unbelievable.
Media interviews of Zenz are too soft. The first question they should ask is what his qualifications to be a 'China expert' are? I read that he spent 3 weeks in 2008 in a few places in China, probably a few days in Xinjiang. He found nothing to report then until his masters asked him to write a report in 2016. This is what he said in a radio interview on NPR last year. ZENZ: I have long argued that the atrocity in the region is a cultural genocide, not a literal genocide. I do continue to believe that, generally speaking, the Chinese government does not intend to physically eradicate the Uighurs.
When Zensz was paid by BBC, he bought loads of drugs to use and have a huge imagination of how Xinjiang should be in his mind. Money makes his mind go round 🤪
The streets look incredibly safe, clean and beautiful architecture. I really don't care if it has cameras in every corner as long as it looks this good.
Great update Daniel, lots to look forward to you expanding on. Certainly better than I thought you might produce, optimistic about you continuing the discussion.
The chinese renovated the area and beautified it. This is kashgar old city. This area was deteriorating really badly with poor people and poor sanitation and maintenance. The city was unplanned with poor sanitation. The chinese demolished a lot of the old buildings and reconstructed them in traditional uyghur achitetecture. They used the same materials uyghur have used to build for centuries. They widened the streets built sanitation and electricity and the decorated the area with greenery. The chinese first moved the uyghur to new apartments away from the old kashgar city, they then demolished the old deteriorating buildings and then rebuilt and redecorated the buildings in old kashgar city. After that, they moved the residents from their temporary apartments back into the reconstructed and redecorated buildings in the old kashgar city. That is why the place looks the way it does.
@@lollymanna Yeah, not only Xinjiang, the Chinese government is spending a lot of money to beautifying the village all over the country, making life in villages better. Honest vlog from my favourite vlogger based in China. I am Asian and I have been following topics related to China for almost two years. I am by no means expert but I did noticed that very little is known of Xinjiang outside China. To create more awareness the government should held sporting events, expo, exhibitions, film shoots maybe a film city in Xinjiang. I know, Xinjiang and Tibet has lagged behind in economic and social development compare to rest of the provinces in China but the last few years have seen dramatic change in the lives of these people. There is already total eradication of poverty in these areas. I am hopeful that further opening up of Xinjiang will only help change the negative opinion held by Western media towards it. 👍 Edit: Also, it's perfect time to visit Kashgar, since muslim holy month of Ramadan is going on, it will be nice to see how it is celebrated and performed in Xinjiang. :)
Nothing against of what you said at all. But why China has to change to prove themselves to the westerners that they are living better??? China improved people’s livelihoods for the sake of their own people, not for the purpose for foreigners to judge China. Don’t waste our time to convince them. They have their minds set to destabilise China.
They can't hold any large international events before. Xinjiang is under the threat of terrorism for a long time. Go check out the Documentary films about the attacks and that happened in Xinjiang. Recently the situation has changed a lot. But you know the virus hits us since last year so...
Thanks for sharing your video and experience there. I have only been to Kashgar airport for a short while once because the plane could not land in Urumqi due to poor weather conditions. My in-laws live in Urumqi, in Jan 2019 we were visiting them. When we just got off the flight, my son wants to go to the washroom, my wife told me to stay with him and said "This is a third-tier city!" Nothing happened obviously. So I told it as a joke to my inlaws, and they responded with laughter and said: "Urumqi is the safest city in China, second only to Beijing. If a fight breaks out or someone yells 'Thief!', police must arrive within 2 minutes." That took me by surprise. But I think Urumqi has to settle being third now.

Thank you so much to explore the Xinjiang region and the minds of the locals. A corner of a big picture is more than I can say about the other medias. A government is never perfect and can never cater to every wish of the people. The goal is to provide decent opportunities to those who seeks for it. Some mega projects cannot rely on individual to accomplish, governmental machine has to get involved. China has its own way of doing things while the others can do whatever they see fit. The final judgement is on the scoreboard of 'Happiness Index'! Anxious to see the next episode from you. Wish I could come to your establishment on my next visit to China.
Am just amazed 丹尼尔·邓波儿 that for someone who is on their first visit to Kashgar, you seemed to be able to find an unobtrusive place to wander, film and render your musings on what the locals had to say. Thank you Daniel for showing us such a nice (film) setting. This reminds me so much to Terezin! Looking forward to see all those spontaneous interviews as well as videos of the (walled) schools.
I really appreciate that you try keep a neutral position to share what you see and hear as is. As any adult would know that pretty much nothing in this world is 100% black or white, it is valuable to see the situation as it is and make a judgment on one's own using his own brain. Sadly, this is increasingly difficult to do in the west given the highly politicized media environment.
Daniel, thank you for the great job done! Could you please take one video sharing which equipment you use, like this walk and talk it seems very smooth while you walking, good quality.
Thanks for sharing this, Daniel. You're views are logically composed and you're very well spoken. Imagine a US news channel coming to Xinjiang, with the express purpose of finding someone who has something positive to say about the government. First of all, it would be too easy, and secondly, it would make their entire narrative collapse. Furthermore I just wanted to say, Kashgar looks like an absolutely beautiful city. The architecture seems to be well preserved, and if I may say just from the appearances of them, the people look content - the old men walking with their hands behind their back, some locals playing a game of chess (?) outside as a neighbor stops by to watch and have a chat. Overall, an absolutely stunning city; your background at any moment looks like it could be a movie scene. And no, not a sci-fiction movie set in a dystopian police state... but perhaps a romantic comedy 😉
Daniel, I am from Sweden and the swedish television SVT made a reporting from the city that you are in, recently. And they were followed(Stalked) by, as they (SVT) interpeded of some kind of Police. They(SVT) were also trying to snoop around the so called camps . The whole thing felt scewed in a way to make China a dystopic place. Swedish taxfunded media is going along with the usual western perspective both the radiocorresponent from SR who is extremly fond with opposition groups and make special podcast to make China bad and the Television broadcasting is the same. My take on Chinas view on these types of actors is that China will have an extra eye on these when they come and visit because they know that thay come with bad intention, and China is in a position that they can give a fuck what those organisations think about them, am i wrong?
Unfortunately, it is the situation. Those foreign medias, they keep digging the trash in China. China is not perfect, there are problems for sure. But they really are trying their best to portray China as old fashioned, closed minded, ignorant, violent, brainwashed…… But the Xinjiang story they are pushing really has reached a new level of shamelessness
Those "media" will often film some conflicts with uniformed people as if they're blocked by police from revealing something. In reality, those aren't even police. They didn't get permission before entering non public premises, trespassing in other words, and were stopped by security guards. I bet you if they did the same thing in the USA, the cop would clear the entire magazine on them already. I really do hope they get followed by the police, if that's true the Chinese govt is doing the right thing, because these people only have ill intention.

That'll give you lots of sources that aren't owned by the dog eating CCP.
Thanks brother Daniel - intrepid as ever! Looking forward to more from you while you're over there.
I root for you. Seeing is believing. I visited Kashgar in Sep 2019 before all the rumors and lies about Xinjiang came out in force. I saw a peaceful place, and local people going about their lives just like in any other Chinese cities. But last year, when I heard from west media and politicians and genocide and ethnic cleansing happening in Xinjiang, I was like: which Xinjiang? Seems like they are talking about a Xinjiang in a different planet. I just can't believe someone can lie to your face like this. It's an insult to human intelligence.
AMEN. We have seen the truth thanks to Daniel who is probably the only good Canadian journalist working today. The rest are filthy liars trying to brainwash us into war. Thank you Daniel you may have saved the world as you stroll those clean alleys with your camera and message of truth.

What is the size of forced labor camp in USA vs China?
How many political prisoners are there in USA vs China?
How many state sponsored disappearances are there in USA vs China?
@@jessemc3 USA have a few million black/brown people in slave prison labor. Go read USA 14th Amendment. Slavery is legal for prisoners in USA, hence USA have the biggest prison population per capita. USA have for-profit prisons where capitalist make more money the more people are put in jail.
@@audreypan9205 That's true. They need more prisoners to provide forced labor for the military industrial complex to build WMDs for cheap while getting the profits for themselves. That's why there are more private prisons built there. It's very profitable. You are in Urumqi and found nothing out of the ordinary and this Zenz was never in Xinjiang and reported all kind of frightening things going on there. Unbelievable.
That's what you call imagination
He's in Kashgar
Zenz is on crack.
Thanks for sharing Daniel. May be I will plan my next trip to Kashgar. Looks like an interesting place to visit.

Awesome investigation and reporting, Daniel! Many thanks, Daniel!
What a beautiful place, so clean and well decorated, better than what I expected!
So nowadays many city dweller or town dweller like travelling to villages which can provide some tourism revenue for the locals. It's a policy call "the construction of beautiful villages " and I think it's a win-win.
That old town looks so beautiful.. the plants on the walls. That place looks so calm, with the bird chirping. It must had been a nice stroll...

Edit: Also, it's perfect time to visit Kashgar, since muslim holy month of Ramadan is going on, it will be nice to see how it is celebrated and performed in Xinjiang.

I really appreciate that you try keep a neutral position to share what you see and hear as is. As any adult would know that pretty much nothing in this world is 100% black or white, it is valuable to see the situation as it is and make a judgment on one's own using his own brain. Thank you Daniel for showing us today's Xinjiang.
