I just returned last night 😊 They also recommended another one(it's a light read apparently -no action).... it's called fruits basket... Awaiting for you to finish these series before I pick it up... Please pickup Bakuman by the same creators as Death Note. I have commented on another video saying the same thing. It is awesome that you picked up Death Note. Bakuman is even better and it actually tells you a flaw of The Death Note series, and how it does not have a very good ending (not the best one it could have had).
I also started reading manga and watching anime last year and by now I probably have read 50+ mangas...It's so much fun....Their are so many great stories with fascinating characters and plot...About female characters I also hated the so called "fan service" and only their to be a love interest trope...but there are actually some really incredible female characters as well....Usually Shounen mangas which focus on young teenage boys do this kind of stuff , then we have shoujo for young teenage girls , seinen for men and josei for women.....My all time fav series is Attack On Titan do check it out sometime.....
You should read Tokyo Revengers, Attack on titan , Jujutsu kaisen, Naruto , Demon slayers etc . There are tons of good mangas , I can't write all of them.

I subscribed viz media for one month only😂 Edit - I read dragon Ball in color as viz media also had color edition of all chapters for this manga
