A lot of ppl say that Indian weddings are literally so wasteful cause its so rich and grand and they should just donate to charity. Pls remember that people save their WHOLE LIVES for their weddings. They scrap every penny for it. Most parents open a bank acc just for a wedding upon the birth of their daughter. These people are not celebrities or politicians to constantly donate their money away to charity. Indian weddings, Hindu weddings involve a LOT of rituals which ofc cost a lot of money in general. I don't know how many people know this but whatever is not eaten is given away to the needy. If you truly think these people are wasting their money on their own weddings, just think about weddings of people like Kate Middleton and William. Think of a politician's weddings and celeb weddings. Those are the real wasteful ones where people can be helped instead. Again, if the govt did the job right, needy ppl will dwindle in numbers. Those people are the real ones who are swindling the general population. These ppl work hard to save money to get married like this. And usually, most Indians don't ever divorce. So its all money well spent on getting married ONCE in a lifetime. India has the lowest divorce rate in this whole world.

I didn't write a speech for my sisters wedding either. I cried during my speech that I made up on the spot because I saw how happy she was. Your speech made me cry because that is exactly how I feel about my sister and brother in law.
