    I like my "pest" snails to a point. sometimes they breed so fast I have to take adults and let them go in a pond and I let the babies grow up. Another thing I find interesting is I never actually see my snails lay, their eggs just appear

      really, you let pest snails go in a pond? that's one of the most environmentally irresponsible thing i've ever heard. have you never learned about invasive species and how damaging they are for an ecosystem?

      Adrian is correct, and you guys aren't taking this seriously enough. Invasive species wreak havoc and are largely part of the mass extinction event currently taking place. Please pull your heads out of your buts. You kids or grandkids may come along and read your comments one day. smh

      @@tobythetoaster1086 That's good to hear lol. I hope nobody else is offloading their apple snails, or any other non-native species into our economy. Where I'm at we're dealing with the havoc that Asian jumping worms are causing to the soil. I mean BIG trouble for the local economy. From the mushrooms to the trees, messes everything up. Take care T3✌

    Hey mate, I've some eggs in my aquarium too! But after three days little white worms where starting to terrorice my little aquarium, at 0:40 I see you're haveing one too, in the gelly stuff right down corner. But I have a lot of them, I think 30-40+? Are they harmfull? Thanks!

    • @SE0ULsearching
      @SE0ULsearching 5 лет назад +6

      I'm extremely extremely late at this reply, but knowledge is always good. Esp if you're still I'm the hobby of aquarium keeping. These little white worms are detritus worms. They're harmless to fish and other life in the aquarium, but being worms, they're unsightly and definitely considered pests. A good gravel vacuuming and water change can get rid of MOST of them but if you're wanting to get rid of all, better to completely break the tank down, and put in new gravel.

    • @SE0ULsearching
      @SE0ULsearching 5 лет назад +2

      Those are not baby snails. They're the larvae of what's called detritus worms. If you watch the video again really closely, at about 0:40 there is a tiny white worm in the bottom corner of the gel in which the eggs are encased. They're harmless to fish and other live in the aquarium, but being worms, they're rather unsightly and definitely considered pests. They live in the gravel bed and reproduce like crazy. The little white dots all over the glass are their larvae.

    Why are these guys considered pest

    • @maddyc7369
      @maddyc7369 5 лет назад +4

      as someone who has them as pets, i can confirm they are indeed pests. bought a plant from the pet store and didn't quarantine it first, resulting in a tiny pond snail finding his way into my goldfush tank. he was small but too big for my fish to eat so i left him there. next thing i know he's laying several egg sacks a week. i moved the goldfish out of the tank and (stupidly) took the original snail with them. next think i know both tanks are being over run with babies. i finally got myself a tank specifically for these little guys and i now have HUNDREDS but i still have some sneaking around 3 out of my 5 other tanks. trust me, they're pests😂😂
