This is the biggest reason I watch this page. Always humble, always willing to show someone something new. Keep up the great work brother and thank you.
Understanding welding distortion/shrinkage how it works and how to make shrinkage work for me instead of against me has really helped me get better at welding and building welding projects and reduce distortion I still need a lot of learning to do but I will do it and get it perfectly right. I plan on going to college for welding soon if God allows me to attend and graduate Welding College with a few Welding Certificates under my belt. I love your content dude, I love you, I encourage you brethren. I'm building a chicken coop and my frame got distorted because I tried to rush and weld as fast as I could and shrinkage beat me. I left it distorted I couldn't fix it as I leveld out the legs and put supports on them thats when I did research on RUclips watched a video of Guestz and, a few others, it talks about metal warpage I learned from it alot. I did tak welds around the roof during the cold and when I grinded them smooth I noticed quite a few of them were cracked and I watched your video about preheating pipeline pipe so to reduce the chance of getting weld cracks I commented your RUclips channel name and what I learned from you on Austin Ross RUclips channel comment section. Not that you asked for my advise or any tips I just wanted to share with you some of my knowledge so God will blesses me with some more of his Godly wisdom. God blesses those who bless you and curses those who curse you. Mad love peace out.
Absolutely love your stuff very educational I looked a long time to find someone that wants to help others into this field. Thanks for all your videos keep em coming..
I laughed so hard at 8:05 when you took your hat off said there was a lot going on and then you proceeded to apologise to us for your hair! Anyway love your vids man keep em coming!
do you experience sensitive arc blow with that setup ? again a "detail " question : I have seen many pipe welder bending their rod 90 or almost. Is it to have a better aim as the stinger is not in the way then ?
I wish I had a helper to dial my rheostat while I walked my root in. Hahaha. I burn my roots in uphill this way I get max penetration and I know I’ve got sufficient back bead. (Depending on my gap)
So what is the better way to do it? My school has been teaching us to whip it and come out of our key hole and bring it back into the puddle. But just about every other video I’ve watched they’re dragging the rod instead. Which way gets better build up? Build up has been killing me. My beads are looking real nice and consistent but I’m not getting enough build on the back side.
Great video Jacob. At one point, you told this guy to look inside of the pipe and see how hot it was....how red it was. Will you explain that a little bit more? I'm not a real weldor...just a backyard metal-meltor, but I still like learning about the skill and how to improve my own abilities. Thanks, man and please keep your vids coming. I'm a subscriber and learn something on everyone of your uploads.
On the hot pass, the point of it is just like what it sounds like. To burn out any slag that could be left in the toes of the root pass. But I could be wrong, I'm just a welding student.
Jacob: Do you cut your pups\coupons and grind the angle by hand or do you use a pipe beveler? Would like to see someone cut a pipe bevel by hand. I know most angles are 37.5 degrees but to freehand would be a chore I would think.
I have a question. Was at a new gas plant to install a couple of cattle guards, and was watching an old boy doing some roll out work and noticed him dipping his rods in a bottle of water before welding with them. Never saw that before, and I got busy, by the time I got my job done he was gone and I didn't get to ask him about that. Now, I have had it beat into my head for years about keeping your rods dry, so is this something new? Primarily I just do structural work, and hard facing. But ya learn something new every day if your paying attention. Stay safe out there my brother's!
My father in law has mentioned a couple times that the red hypi rod 7010 will run better if you will dump a little bit of water I. Your hand and every time you grab a rod just swipe through it. I’ve never done it but this is what he used to do.
@@JacobSchofield Thanks for the shout back. This wasn't redrod, didn't get to talk to him, so I have no idea what he was running, but it has my interest about it for sure. Stay safe out there my brother!
I really dont know anything about them. But if your talking about like a magnet grasshopper for like a pipeline if it saves an arc strick from a ground falling off which could cost you your job im all for them
Wonderful ! what is the music ? Huge lowering of amps, I have seen going from 100A to 50 (I suppose that not all machines will allow this). All the slag inside ? The eyes just on the puddle, really , you need to look that near ? (because of the gap may be not necessary when doing other type) THe lead, one need to get acquainted to its weight, when holding the stinger that way near the rod the lead have a huge leverage on the stinger , I thought that with the lead falling that way you are obliged to balance its weight by holding the stinger lower .(as you do also with that still long rod and one hand ;) does it count as one of your little "details" , Many questions, I apologize but I ma really interested in understanding the details of the process (not that I have any chance to be a pipe welder someday I am in a totally different work) "You got to practice !"I dont trust that ;) Thanks for that vid .
Id be interested in coming up and doing lol welding with you I'm a hand now...run my own rig mostly repair stuff I've got lol shop and a 250gtx. Great lil machine. Thinking might get another sa250. Diesel let me know how much it going cost..id like try come up before winter sits in ..im in Oklahoma I'd drive up 8 hrs from you i think
Jacob, my point is; it was not very informative. Your heart seems to be in the right place. Maybe your other clips are better, I haven't looked at any others. I retired in 2015 after 47 years in the metal trades. I've been blessed to cover a lot of ground in that time. Teaching can be very rewarding; start with a good foundation. The ugliest thing in the world is a welder with his hood up so keep your ass up and your head down.
I can't believe you took time out of your busy ass day to give someone who you will prob never see again some help. Truly inspirational man.

jesus cisneros thank sir I appreciate that. My name is everything.
You learn more with a welder at the job site than in school.guaranteed
Marco Canchola you’re right but if don’t know how weld at all school will teach you
Love your videos learned a lot from them. Great job on the videos kept them coming thank you.

Me too lol... it would of made it way simpler.
You just gotta have the perfect fit up then you just drag and push and have the perfect keyhole

What kind of 6010 and 7018 rods do y'all use for downhill?

I asked , may be you can get that on Itunes ? ;)
Do this for $100 an hour in Michigan,no testing needed.straight booger welds
Sounds like a bacon being cooked to me 🔥
I like turtles
do pipeliners use p5 for the root?
Why such a drag angle?? Thought your sposed to point the rod to the center of the pipe?? Been meaning to ask..
What's your thoughts on magnetic grounds?
I really dont know anything about them. But if your talking about like a magnet grasshopper for like a pipeline if it saves an arc strick from a ground falling off which could cost you your job im all for them
Gotta respect the ironheads
Jalen Nicholson amen for sure I ain't getting up there lol!!

Love the videos but the quality sucks.
Cory Martin ya I finally figured out what 4K is lol and how to get my computer upload them that way. The newer ones are better.
Have you ever thought about welding in a gimp mask?
i don't like to criticize a good video but the dogs should not be there!!
Worked with the best; seen the rest. Watching this was a waste off time
Ron Buracker so your telling me helping this guy out was a waste of time? Have a good day
Ron is an idiot.
wasted even more time with the useless comment
