This reminds me of what we were sold as being the future in the 1970's. Where we would live in bright white futuristic homes and drive electric/solar cars. Well there you are in an electric car, in the future. Plus you sold it to me the minute the future still had C&A. I loved C&A as a young boy. I now as a 50 something like to dress as "The man from C&A" some weekends. I think I am in love with this place. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
good to be watching again ... if you have access to today's Saturday Telegraph interesting lead feature in Travel section on post Brexit European property buying for Brits... country by country .. ran to 3 + pages - quite encouraging - gist was that professional advice makes residency far easier than you may have believed... Thanks for a very interesting programme again - they are all good and catching up with those I missed ... Bill in the UK pres de Newhaven...
This was a bit of a trip down memory lane for me, round about 2007, I was a long distance truck driver, doing removals, and had just moved some people to a home close to the Hippodrome, and just after pulling away, there was a loud bang, I thought I had blown a tyre, but it turned out to be a bit more severe than that, and as a result, I was stuck in the area for a just over a week, I stayed just by Villeneuve Loubet station, and enjoyed a couple of days around the swimming pool next to the old house, and also had time to visit Antibes. A pleasant week at the bosses expense. The main complex doesn't look like it has changed much, but the village by the station has changed beyond recognition.
What a great place for a visit. A lot different to Brighton . Well done Mr. Boo persevering in the hunt for the mystery house ! It was good to see it. Thanks !
I must have ridden the train over 50 times past the massive Marina Baie des Anges apartment buildings over the years but it never occurred to me to stop and have a look. Next time I will.
Beautiful, beautiful. I think I would really like to live there. On the top floor where I could garden and swim and go down stairs and have something to eat. Yes I dream big. Nice video.
Thanks for another great video. I feel sure you have explored Port Grimaud, but perhaps you should pootle along there in Elton to have another look, to see the alternative to this mega-overdevelopment
Ha ha, really enjoyed that. Used to pass it everyday on my bicycle going to work. They still had not completed it and would only build on as the apartment were bought. I was told maybe wrongly that it was made to look like a cruise ship. Didn't know about that house, well done guys
Had a wonder round there in 2017. Great to get some info on the architecture...When i went one of the roof garden flats was all burnt out.. And a older biker lady came out the underground parking on a Harley looking super cool!
Its great to get to know more about the area through your channel as i passed through rather to quickly but with much curiosity on a campervan dash that sumner! Cheers Guys..
This video just popped up. Loving your channel. Driven past these numerous times on way to Antibes Old Town. Always a bit in awe/ horrified at the buildings although I can see the architectural beauty. Who knew it was that beautiful on the marina side? Quite spectacular. Will visit. Wonder how much the ground rents/maintenance charges are, once you’ve bought the pad itself!!!
The "Log Men" are everywhere! Your looks yummy and pretty. The history of the buildings is very interesting. It is too bad it blocks any views of the land behind it.Bravo to the people who refused to sell their home!! Look forward to seeing you fellas next week! Love from Vermont
Thank you for making a wet Thursday morning in the UK feel a bit more sunny, I’ve always admired these buildings it was nice to finally see them from the front instead of the road behind .
I used to go to the beach there with my grandparents in the 80s . There are some great restaurants and beach shacks. My favourite lunch was a pain bagnet! My grandparents had a tiny villa in the old village. We still have it. I love it.
A fascinating video guys. I have passed the development many times on the bus to Juan Les Pins. Think I prefer the rustic old farm house to the apartment blocks though. The house has charm and character, just like yourselves. Look forward to the next adventure with Elton :-)
@@MeandMonAmi Yes, that would be interesting. I must check out the ones for sale to see what they look like inside.......nothing like being curious lol :-)
I’m not a fan of modern developments but I liked that place. To say it’s 50 years old it’s immaculate! If I could afford that house ( not likely! ) I would have it!
30 square meters for 700 Euros?! That's like 1/3rd what the rate is here -- probably 1/4-1/5th the rate of Manhattan. What am I doing over here? Great video. Lovely secret -- and stubborn! -- house. Thanks.
Always wondered what was there! Great tour, but I loved the way the secret house looked so serene in the middle of such a huge development. Fun tour as always!
Well that was an interesting pursuit. I seem to recall a magazine article from childhood about the construction and along with the Concorde being a high-tech dream and model for the future. Interesting to see it today, and how the resolute farmhouse could be an icon for the lifestyle many dream of in our post modern era. I can't help but wonder if it finally came under ownership of the marina, and how it might make for unique event and entertainment venue.
Can,t beat going up a narrow passage on the riviera! Thanks for the fun! See you in a couple of months! All the best, your co-stars 😂😂. M&L! Ps. Maybe next week Mr Boo needs to do a Will Smith slap!🤷🏻♂️
The house owner who refuse to sell: We have a parallel story here: Ebba's house. It is a house from 1780s, squeezed in between modern high houses from 1970. Ebba stood her ground and today it's a museum. It is so small that only 3 visitors can enter at the same time. Furnitures from her parents (1800?), a tiny back yard with an outhouse and all, kitchen utensils, everything is frozen in time. It even has got a 2nd floor, with a bedroom :). Yes, I just got a feeling of "Mon Ami-house" :).
Looks a little bit like the condo in my dream. except that the condo in my dream has this giant multi deck pool and you just swim from one deck down the other.
@@MeandMonAmi nah. The pool in my dream is more shared pool. I tried swimming in private club and it’s like you own the pool. But compare with having so many other people having fun in the pool together with you, it is no satisfaction in the pool all by yourself.
I guess you are enjoying the high gas prices these days ....also do you use solar panels to charge your car , cause that would be actually epic if you did
@@MeandMonAmi No I meant external solar panels , this way you would be driving next to free of charge , while people with diesel engines are suffering these days ...
ok guys.. As I watched your videos, I started to think that if I got an AMI, it would be very easy to travel the world and see amazing places.. (hmm..should I get an AMI?..I think I should watch you guys a little longer..) I discovered a convenience of AMI!.. Even deep cycle marine batteries can be used in this car since it works with 48 volts.. yes it will be heavy, but assuming the car is very light, it will not be too difficult on the flat road.. So, don't be afraid of the expensive lithium battery dying.
@@MeandMonAmi...... Deep cycle batteries are long-lasting batteries. 12 V / 200 Amps can be found in a single box. I agree, they are heavy but cheaper than lithium batteries.. The power calculation is very simple: Watt = amps X volts ...... accordingly 200 x 12 = 2.4 KW There are so many empty places in AMI that it is not so difficult to find a place for 4 batteries. When you connect these batteries in series, you will get 48 X 200 = 9.6 KW power. Just like lithium batteries, they give energy "continuously" until they run out. The only difference is that lithium batteries are slightly lighter. Since lithium batteries are allergic to water, if they come into contact with water while passing through it, they will start a fire..be careful.. If I had an AMI I would definitely try the battery alternatives.. If AMI can do 70 km with 5.5 KW battery power (!), although they are heavy, deep cycle batteries can also travel 70 km with 9.6 KW battery energy on flat road. I wish you fun and safe driving
Property prices there are actually cheap compared to where I am , I live in Ascot near Windsor and a new 1 bedroom Apartment is £500 thousand pounds yikes !!
