How surprisingly! As aspected the people 'not liking Logic so much' and or are using a none-apple computer jumping on there keyboards... Without really listening to what Jon is saying. They're all good for music making. Some less expensive, some (way more) needing to be upgraded rather quickly, which can be quit costly. But let's face it; no windows-based computer can compete with the new M1-macs. So, given all that I can understand what Jon is saying. For a lower price you get more for your money...
Sorry, Jon, I really agree with a lot of what you usually say, but here I have a different point. And I think you are wrong. The DAW war is over. There is no such thing as best DAW for beginners, experts or pros. As you said it yourself - you never came deep enough to understand other DAWs as deep as your favorite DAW. A while ago I had to recommend a DAW. And as I do it with everything: I teach other persons the pros and cons of solution A, B and C. And they have to make the decision themselves. All DAWs have a free demo mode, and one learns pretty fast what fits best. I cannot say what others need or want - they have to decide. But one thing is true: most people stick with their first choice.
Taking into consideration M1, Logic Pro price, and what you get for that, Logic might be the choice. I believe that was the point, not if it is just the best DAW.
I agree, I use the 3 big ones. Logic, Cubase and pro tools. Logic for making band-oriented music by myself, Cubase for my 2000 track orchestral work, and pro tools for recording musicians
Yay ! I’m happy to hear someone else say this! I got Logic Pro X 6 months ago and am blown away by its value!! I also use MacBook Pro. I’ve been trying to learn it , there are so many functions and options !!
Ableton is a great DAW. But it's hard to beat the value you get from Logic and a Mac mini M1. Ableton is comparatively expensive. I am not saying Ableton is bad. I agree with Jon Sine with this one. For a starter the value from logic and a base Mac mini is better than Ableton.
@@boristhecat6801 Logic is faster for musicians. If you just want to load samples and loops, Ableton is probably faster. But you could always get Serato sample with Logic, and it would be just as fast and have the additional features like live loops, the sequencer, the remix fx unit, etc.
reaper because it's just a good as the others, but more open, more customisation, take less space and doesn't suck your cpu power, you can even have it in a usb key and it's way cheaper
I made the switch to reaper. The custom. Option are great. You can change the daw based on your workflow. Also the low cost for a license. No extra cost or download size because of some factory loops and stuff that's never used
Logic still better interface, but ableton simpler and can do more without opening subwindows since majority Is packet into one main screen. Logic still better more intuitive for music composing. Ableton perhaps better for looping
Jon: Look at all these effects that logic has! It even has melodyne. No other daw offers this! Every FL User: LMAO its almost like FL has had all of these fx for litteral years! thats so crazy! fr tho, I don't think that logic has anything currently thats so high quality or revolutionary that its worth being tied down to mac products to be able to make music. Apple will just milk you down the road because of the dependency on their product. Also, Apple may have tons of resources, but that doesn't mean they are going to put them into logic.
Used logic when it was still for PC. I'll never leave reaper, which already has a beta version to run on the M1 btw. However I have to agree if you're starting fresh now, Logic makes sense. I'd probably pick the $699 MacMini as I don't need portability
Used Logic for years, recently switched to Ableton. I don’t know if Logic is the *best* DAW, but it’s right among the very best for sure, and it’s *by far* the best value. What you get for $200 is absolutely insane.
Logic' plugins instruments and effects totally defy apple universal and simplistic interface ideology. Interface of many plugins and instruments is confusing, pixelated, messy with various knobs and buttons. If they simplify and make same interface on all their plugins (similar to what the new sampler look) it would look more organized, clear and uniformed.
What are you liking better in Ableton ? I've been an Ableton user for almost a decade and recently been learning a bit of Logic, and I love it ! But I'm way too used to Abletons workflow, so I decided to commit to it and finally bought a legit license and a push 2 , but if I went back in time I'd def choose Logic just from the little I've seen
Can agree to that. I use logic since Version 8.0 like 10yrs now? 2 weeks ago I switched to Ableton just of curiosity (90 days trial version at the moment) and I gotta say I immediately understood everything and loved it! So fast really...
@@yoshijaecques6890 yeah I was thinking the same but I thought it might have been just that ik Ableton much better. However , Logic has some really nice features like the iPad app, is almost as good as the Push 2 and it's free, also the price is soooo much better
I think FL Studio is the best for beginners, especially for those who want to create Hip-Hop, Trap, EDM, Trance etc. It's not perfect and maybe not as good as Ableton or Cubase, but it has the best Piano-Roll on which you can make melodies extremely easily. And the best thing about it is the lifetime update so you don't have to worry about paying tribute with the new update. But it should be noted that at least Producer Edition (which cost 189€) allows you to create music without any major restrictions.
I’de say you’re silly to not at least consider a Mac with the M1. Even if you pick another DAW running under Rosetta 2 most of them seem to be running massively better at the comparative hardware cost to a windows based PC. And even though I understand the idea behind being able to mix and match your own chosen components to create a computer suited to specific requirements it becomes completely moot when you compare the speed and power of an ARM based chip with all those components onboard. Seriously, unless intel or amd start making similar ARM based silicon they’re going to be screwed and I would seriously consider converting to Apple.
Oh wow no idea pro tools had the melodyne pitch effect but their own version. holy snap that's a game changer. Working though melodyne as a third party plugin is so annoying.
13:46 Totally right, i ave used mac before and i switched back to windows cause it was so simple that it complicated me haahaha, but when the first videos of the m1 start caming out, it really blowed me away because for the first time apple go it right without a big catch that usually comes along with their products but now i think they really got to it right. PD: Im a ableton user and i love it because im really used to it but everyone has to admit that logic really good #AppleNeedsToSponsorJonSine
I did it, got myself a MacBook m1 and logic pro, no experience with Logic ;-) ready to start my journey, any recommendation on a good tutorial. Thanks.
Check out Point Blank Music here on RUclips they’ve got both Logic and Ableton tutorials that a great. Also Guildhall School of Music and Drama has an amazing two part tutorial. The link below goes through the basics. ruclips.net/video/7QQN_UFVpbk/видео.html
I started with Fl 3.0 and then learned Reason. But a friend introduced me to Logic and I was hooked. Wasnt feeling Ableton. I think you can make great music on any DAW. But I also agree logic as a 'total package has everything you will need..especially the sound library.
Great video. I got back into music making after a 10 year hiatus with the purchase of an Apollo twin quad. It came with Luna though I had spent years with PT and Cubase. Has nearly everything except for film scoring to video so I'm tempted to take the plunge with Logic. I see there is an education priced bundle of all of apples media company purchases.
As a former Logic user, I have to disagree with you and recommend Studio One, especially for producers who are big into sound design and audio engineering. I started producing in Logic and used it for 2.5 years, but for the past 3, I’ve been using Studio One for all new projects, and I’m much happier with it. I still go back to Logic because I have to, so I think I have a good point of comparison. The only things I miss are Drummer and the integrated loop library, but each of these I have worked fine without. From my experience, Studio One is far more intuitive and feature-rich than Logic, with incredible development and support the past few years. Bussing, Sends, drag-and-drop, effortless plug-in search, complex routing... I could go on and on about the intuitive features which Studio One has that Logic either has a crummier implementation of or none at all. Not to mention, I have experienced far less bugginess by orders of magnitude. Many things I found frustrating with Logic I have found relief from with Studio One. I can understand why you would recommend Logic to new producers and songwriters, but the extra help that Logic lends my songwriting is not worth it for me. If you are just starting and wanting to get into sound design and audio engineering, or you are a curious Logic user, I would highly recommend trying Studio One. (Melodyne is also integrated with Studio One btw.)
I agree the MacBook Air and Logic Pro is all you would need (for electronic music) But you said any style of music. Obviously you need a lot of analog in and out to record real drums and guitar amps etc...
I really appreciate this video. I have been bouncing literally every DAW, spending so much money, and not getting anything done. Because of what you said here, I'm removing it all and getting to work. Thank you.
My entire life i always ate french fries everyday and yes i dont care how you cook your potatoes and yes i only ate french fries but french fries is the best way to cook and eat potatoes. Jon uses logic.... the Daw not the word Logic!

I am working as a producer for Boldt Berlin and Sony BMG and I made MY Deal with FL...
Very good advise. Logic it's a safe long term option specially if you're buying a new M1 Mac. However, for the absolute edge in music making, you'll eventually switch later to FL studio or Ableton Live. These 2 are currently the favourite for music production. Pro tools is the favourite for mixing. Logic has its place though, so it's a good advise indeed for most musician's out there. If they need to switch to a more advanced workflow, they will figure it out later down the road, but specially for beginners, Garage Band and Logic are the best and will not cost as much as other daw's.
Sorry Jon but this I cannot agree with, I started on Cubase and still with it today. We know your an apple fanboy so you go with logic which is fair enough. Like others have said you know logic inside out so anything else would be difficult to switch to. Also how do you run logic on a windows pc? A lot of professional composers for cinema,tv, game music all use cubase and protools, logic is nowhere near as common. Nowadays there is very little difference between all the major daws so someone starting out should play with trial versions and see which they prefer
Sitting here @0:33 and I am not sure if that can be anything other than Logic, since this is the only DAW that you are familiar with I assume. edit: Yeah, it was a little obvious. This is still such a personal thing. I would never switch to Mac. You are forced in your Computer hardware and I like to tinker with PCs a lot and use them for other purposes as well. You had so much trouble with your previous Mac Books, I am a little surprised that you didn't mention any of that. I choose my DAW based on the amount of tutorials and help I can get online. I don't regret my choice.
%100 agree. Just because people don’t like apple they also don’t like logic pro lol. I bought ableton because I thought logic was lacking on sampling/pitching and I used it for only a few times then Logic came up with a dope update, now logic became stronger than ever before. Like you said with the m1 macs you can literally get mac mini for $699 and you’re all set. I just cannot justify paying more for any other daw especially ableton with its price tag and updating every other year to charge 100s of $ is no bueno for most. Also for those that think ableton has a better work flow clearly don’t know anything about logic pro x. I have them both I can say , alchemy+space designer alone worth same if not more than ableton itself. I am not even counting Vintage EQ’s and compressions. At the end use what you think is best for you, I use ableton for my dj setups which I love and I also think logic superior when it comes to production.
Reaper for ever. I started with FL Studio and switched to Cubase and some years later to Logic on a Mac. Now I'm a happy Reaper user... Macs are to expensive in my opinion. I bought a HUAWEI Matebook 14 last month and it is a real powerhorse. And the biggest Pros for Reaper are its customizability, the low Price and no BLOATWARE. And you can make it look like Logic or Cubase or ProTools. There is a bunch of nice themes out there. 13 inch 16:10 are also to small fore a DAW. I love my 3:2 Display... Everything fits on to one screen (Arrange window & mixer)
Use any DAW you want. It doesn't make a difference. I run Ableton, FL Studio, Reaper, Cubase, and Reason. RIght now, I use a $400 Windows notebook, upgraded the RAM to 12GB, and added an SSD. I have also use an old refurb Dell Optiplex that I paid less than $200 for with 8GB of RAM. With Ableton, I started with Intro for $100 and updated to Standard eventually. I have FL Studio Producer...I have been using it for 20 years with free upgrades. The iPad is another option for a cheap DAW. Plenty of great cheap apps and plugins, and you can make quality music with it. BTW, I used Logic before it was Logic. It was called Creator/Notator and it ran on the Atari ST. I also had MicroLogic on the PC. I understand how giddy Jon is about Apple M1 chip and Logic, but there is no "one size fits all" solution. It really depends on your preferences and workflow.
Even REAPER god Kenny Gioia recommends Logic for beginners. I have used Cubase, Ableton, REAPER and Logic and Logic is my #1, REAPER my #2 (I love it for quick audio and video edits, streamlined and no nonsense). I see why Ableton gets a ton of love but the built-in sounds are not quite for me and Cubase is a mess.
I mean Fl studio also costs $200 and in my opinion coms with way more powerful effect and synthesizers. Even with the added benifit of the M1 processor, it still really just comes down to personal preference.
Apple are smart because they charge you once for Logic however they make logic exclusive to only OS so you always stick with Apple when upgrading your machine. Apple have also finally nailed it the new M1 chip from what you have demonstrated to us on your channel. I hope Apple continue updating Logic and looking out for us creative bunch, I will never now go back to buying a PC.
As a professional - do not get into logic if you’re serious about production. It might be an issue with 3rd party plugins, but sometimes logic will change all your sounds, so when you reload to make a small tweak, you have to redo everything. Also, I don’t know what has happened, it phase locked multiple elastic audio is now “quantise locked” and isn’t sample accurate - it puts drums out of phase. On big sessions, I don’t think the latency compensation is up to the task. Tracks start to feel loose. It comes with loads of sounds, but they’re not very cool sounding, unlike ableton. Logic was the best all rounder, but apple just don’t care enough to make it the complete product it could so easily be.
I purchased Ableton last summer and absolutely love that DAW. However, there's one thing that annoys me with Ableton compared to FL & Logic: they very recently announced Ableton Live 11 with some core features I'd love to have. But here I am, expected to pay another full price for it while Logic offers big updates for free & FL has life time free upgrades. That's a bad move by Ableton and I hope that they reconsider their pricing model vs. feature releases
Locking yourself into a program that will only ever be available on one platform - in this case Apple - is always a bad plan. Remember betamax video? Every other "pro" software is multi-platform with the minimum being Windows/Mac. I work in the film/TV VFX and we all remember too well when Apple decided to drop Shake VFX compositor - there were entire studios built on that platform! When Apple bought "Shake" the first thing they did was discontinue the Windows version to try and generate Mac sales... didn't work. In fact it had the opposite effect, studios moved to Linux and Windows. So, the moral of the story is that Apple is a hardware company that only creates software to sell their computers... when the cost of updating the software outweighs the income from related hardware sales, they eventually drop it... without blinking. If Apple was committed to Logic they would make a Windows version too - but that doesn't sell Macs so...
THIS 2! Luckily, people with good memory still exist :). Same thing for the Iphone. An app I bought was removed from the app store, because apple. Goodbye money :)! Although I am a fan of RISC chips. I'll wait till someone builds a proper RISC-V chip as a desktop replacement. Then you'd also know if there's no hidden hardware backdoor stuff, which is definitely in Apple or Intel. You can have all the software privacy protection if you want, if your hardware is already backdoored, well...
You also have to say that this statement is only true for a laptop. If you work with a PC, you can get the same performance for a similar price with a Ryzen 5 from the 3000 series or the 5000 series if you are lucky. Since a DAW hardly needs a good GPU, buy a good Intel or AMD motherboard and put the fastest single core chip of the brand in it and you have the same performance as the M1 from Apple. And as for the prices with offers FL Studio is not more expensive and offers a little more out of the box plugins. Ableton offers the best work flow in my opinion and Studio One or Cubase features that professionals like to use. In addition, not everyone likes to be tied to the Apple ecosystem, there are not many, but some VSTs are only available for Windows, plus most VSTs are optimized for 64 bit processors and must therefore be emulated, no drama but also costs performance again. Don't get me wrong the M1 chip is a brilliant piece of technology but it is not the revolution it is marketed as. Sure, it brings single core performance that is otherwise only known from the top models on the PC, depending on the application, Apple's CPU reaches 95% of the single core performance of the current Ryzen CPUs which, mind you, are desktop CPUs not Mobile CPUs. But in the end, I pay at least €1,129.00 for a MacBook Air in Germany for 8GB shared RAM and a 256 GB SSD. There are technically cheaper and better solutions, I think the MacBook Air is one of the best solutions for people who want to produce mobile, but who has a fixed studio drives with a Windows PC with Ableton, FL, Studio One or Cubase better and cheaper. For the same price I get 16 - 32 GB RAM, a faster CPU if I put a Ryzen 5600 in it and also a motherboard with a much better data processing. So I have to agree with the others here and disagree with you. the DAW war is over especially since 90% of us all use Serum, Sylenth1, Nexus, Pro-Q3, OTT, Valhalla, Kickstarter and co. anyway. There is not the best DAW, there is the best DAW for each of us but not for all, if I want to game with my PC I prefer a Windows PC for example. And if I do a lot of image editing it depends on the complexity, simple clearly an Apple PC but more complex I prefer to use a PC with 32 or 64 GB RAM.
Pro Tools, very intensive and intimidating at first glance, but once you get past that your on your way. However, I put Samplitude Pro on my plate. No love for Samplitude?? No one talks about that beast! . Ammunition is a monster people's have slept on.
Ableton is in a league of it's own, the comes bitwig but lacks the programming language MAX, then all the rest. but who really needs all this capabilities? most don't, the average daw is already more than what most ppl need.
I only produced music for 3 years so my opinion can change over time. Out of all the daws I used in the past 3 years, i personally think ableton is the best, but they dont have lifetime free updates. I prefer FL because its just much easier and it was what I started with
There is no BEST DAW - there is the DAW that YOU BEST KNOW! I know people who are making bangers in FL studio and I know people who are making not-so-good music in PRO Tools. I started out with Reason -> Cuba’s -> Logic; now a days I have FL Studio, Logic, Ableton, and studio one. To each their own!
If you're a Mac user, logic is the best.. If you're a windows person then cubase and studio one are you're best bets. But as a mac user it just makes sense to stay in the apple ecosystem.. Logic is king
...i have cubase 11 too but im a logic user for 10 years and i cant compare it to cubase how fast and intuitive is logic 10.6...its just amazing...im like married to it....haha regards
The best DAW is the one you know most and are comfortable and efficient at using. There are a ton of videos out there from folks stating which is their favourite and best DAW. While it suits their own requirements doesn't mean it will suit others. All DAW's have pros and cons. There are also folks that use more than one DAW to get work done.
@2:00 should be the real answer. Although I might agree if they don't have a computer for music production yet. I'd go with Mac & Logic as well. But I'd also get Ableton lol because Ableton is bae xD
Hard to say if Logic's the best, I auditioned all of the major DAWs a few years back and decided on Studio One. It all comes down to preference. Ps. They all have minimal latency and if you want pretty much no latency for recording with plugins, go for a Universal Audio interface.
Ableton > Logic Listen, it depends on your style, but if you want the most control over your sound waves, Ableton is the way to go. Logic is prettier and mostly easier, but ease of use for beginners only goes so far. Ableton was so hard for me when I first got it, but now, I can’t imagine not having all the options I do. It’s not a perfect program, but Ableton really blows Logic out of the water in terms of control. For me, my workflow uses samples a lot. And pitching and stretching samples in Logic is almost unusable. That could change, but for now, Ableton is the Daw for producers who want more control over their sounds Logic does have better built in VSTs tho
Studio One and Bitwig are getting more and more superior to the other one because their code is new and they're incredibly faster than the traditionnal one. Fl Studio will also be there for a long time because it's hardcore coded, so its one of the fastest. Big up to Bitwig because they will be soon fully modular.
I'm gonna have to agree. I have minimal experience with Logic but from what I have seen, it seems to be REALLY intuitive. Great interface and features. As you said, ti's a full and complete package. You won't need to buy plugins. It's stock plugins are all very usable and good. And $200 is a really good price for what you get. I have been jumping from DAW to DAW trying to find the perfect workflow for me. I keep going back to Reaper but I feel like the workflow could be a bit better and I HATE the interface. I'm currently on Presonus Studio One 5 Pro and so far, really like it. Still learning and getting more comfortable. So why don't I just use Logic? I HATE Apple products. I will not own an Apple computer. I'm a PC guy and won't change so too bad for me that I can't use Logic but I'm ok with it.
I'm a Logic user since... well, C-Lab Creator then Notator, Emagic Logic, Logic Audio, etc... More than 30 years of use. I can say I know the product. I think Logic could be the best (plugins included, cheap price, user interface, etc... bang for the bucks in general) IF, a big if, it was cross platforms. So Logic can be the best "for the mac users".
The best DAW for making original music from scratch is still Cubase Pro. They've been in this DAW and plugin game since the 90's. Logic is sexy, cheap and easy. Not what I'm looking for in a work-tool. I don't know how much worse it is than all the others but it ***seems*** to attract people who aren't interested in music theory, musical instruments, or capturing performances using click, rec, punch and loop-rec. A beginner shouldn't choose a DAW to 'use forever' until they've learned the *basics* of music-theory, composition, recording and mixing. Then it will be easy because you'll know what you're *trying* to do and you'll be able to tell when the DAW is getting in the way of your composition or recording-goals.
If you are not just a producer but also a musician, ableton is the only choice id say. Of course everybody has different taste, but when you are on stage, ableton live is the real deal and nothing can compete with it. In terms of production, the only draw back for me is the comping, which will be fixed in the next version.. So for me it becomes even an easier choice. Just from curiousity: is anybody here using something else on stage than ableton live? And if so, why? Would be interessting to hear a different opinion.
There's no one special app or program, you get whatever & you learn & grow.. Even something like The Melodics app can be rendered useless by just continuous practise
For make music you just need to want make music, is not about the Daw is about your skills and creative and imagination for Music and conect with people.
Apple has a winner with the M1. - There is a great new interview with Steve Porcaro on RUclips. For everybody who is interested in, how music comes about. "Steve Porcaro on Accidentally Writing 'Human Nature' for Michael Jackson"
Yep but nobody seems to care that apple is going against their pro clients with the all soldered anti repair or upgrade thing since many years... I've ditched them (as I have ditched Adobe) not because there is better but just because I can't help any company that feel OK to screw me just because they are famous and wanted... As a tech educated guy I can fix, repair windows or hardware 10 time faster than the time I've spend trying to pay Apple for them repairing my mbp totally destroyed by a blown battery.... Never trust them again they just want to sell the last non upgradable gear....
I've been using Logic since 2002 when it was still owned by German software company E-Magic and back then I paid £699. So glad Apple bought them out, as you had to pay for upgrades but now you don't, now that Apple own it.
While the MacBook Air/Logic combo is the least expensive way to get into production, Ableton is the king of DAW’s hands down. The number of tutorials, classes, and support doesn’t come close to what’s available for entry level Ableton users.
You are very right about M1. It is very powerful and efficient piece of machine. But I hate the company that makes it and I don't wanna dive in the apple ecosystem because it is ridiculous. So no Logic for me and I am pretty happy after I found reaper.
If you search for Apple Pro Apps bundle you can get all of Apple’s pro apps for $199. This includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and Main Stage. No catch.
DAW od like religion or philosophy. Everyone has it's own opinion about it. Also... Its good to know few of them and then pick one. I've choose Reaper, becouse it is the most customize DAW out there.
For me, the #1 advantage of Logic is compatibility. When I started producing, I purchased the full (and expensive) Reason suite. I switched to Logic 3 months later because the plugins I wanted wouldn't work. Compatibility is definitely a reason NOT to go with the less popular DAWs.
Agree with all the points, with a bit "but". Agree with a lot of the comments here. The worst thing about Logic is being Apple dependent. They release a good computer today, you're happy and you begin your music career with it. Then 5 years later, they release bad products or discontinue and you're stuck with Logic and Apple stuff. That's a terrible place to be at. I would recommend Logic only if you are already using a Mac for several years without much complaint, and if you can afford the Apple tax. Sure, yes you can make music on a 999$ laptop and a 200$ DAW today, but you don't know that this will continue forever. And Apple is always the one to do weird "courage" stuff. Your repairs will cost more, your storage will cost more, etc. So I wouldn't say "this is the best". Instead "this is the best if you're already happy being an Apple user". Personally, I don't like to be stuck in any ecosystem, so I'll choose to use something else. Currently on a Mac, using logic for vocal comping, but if they start going the wrong direction, I will switch to Ableton to comp vocals. When that happens, if you're already using Ableton, you dont have a learning curve or compatibility issues cuz all your files are already Ableton. FL user, who appreciates different features in different DAWs. FYI : FL Studio also gives you lifetime updates and you can make music for as little as 99$. I'm not recommending any DAW to anyone. I'm just saying what to consider when choosing what u need.

@@boristhecat6801 Logic is faster for musicians. If you just want to load samples and loops, Ableton is probably faster. But you could always get Serato sample with Logic, and it would be just as fast and have the additional features like live loops, the sequencer, the remix fx unit, etc.
@@79Glitch i use both to be honest ! i felt in love with built in amps and pedalboard for guitar
Abelton right?
by far
reaper because it's just a good as the others, but more open, more customisation, take less space and doesn't suck your cpu power, you can even have it in a usb key and it's way cheaper
I made the switch to reaper. The custom. Option are great. You can change the daw based on your workflow. Also the low cost for a license. No extra cost or download size because of some factory loops and stuff that's never used
Use Both Logic and Ableton... now I'm just in love with Ableton
I have used and tested many different DAWS over my years and I can conclude Ableton is the best DAW (even tho I use FL Studio)
And why is that over studio one 4 and 5
Ableton is the best DAW for YOU!
Used logic when it was still for PC. I'll never leave reaper, which already has a beta version to run on the M1 btw. However I have to agree if you're starting fresh now, Logic makes sense. I'd probably pick the $699 MacMini as I don't need portability
Links take you to Amazon and not always to the page on which you expect to land. For example, Best Soundcard takes you to Arturia Controllers.
Worked with logic for years, switched to Ableton a couple months ago, never going back to logic,Ableton is such a beast DAW
@@artofstorytelling9406 the workflow is so much faster for me,i’ll do alot more then i did in Logic.
@@artofstorytelling9406 yes so true,Logic is so cheap, thats the reason i started with Logic.
But what if we don't want to use Apple? o_O
Lol get the free version of fl studio its very good for beginners then see if u actually want to continue cuz there is a version of fl for 99$
I think FL Studio is the best for beginners, especially for those who want to create Hip-Hop, Trap, EDM, Trance etc.
@@hinsen I want to make music like billie, Well finneas is her producer/brother he uses logic but I don’t have an apple computer
I’m happy with Studio One and Bitwig
Oh wow no idea pro tools had the melodyne pitch effect but their own version. holy snap that's a game changer. Working though melodyne as a third party plugin is so annoying.
Fl has one too
Cubase has it too, most do these days.
Studio one has Melodyne integrated, it’s amazing!:)
Instead of “Best DAW” this should be called “Best DAW Value”. Agree with your points 👍
Nah, it’s probably the best one out there.
I agree. I’m slowly transitioning from FL to Logic. I use both. But starting to use Logic a lot
I love it!
PD: Im a ableton user and i love it because im really used to it but everyone has to admit that logic really good
#AppleNeedsToSponsorJonSine
I personally still prefer Fl Studio because it fits my workflow best. But yes I agree that logic has got the best default in-the-box plugin range
I use logic since 2019 and I am making HipHop/Trap Music.
So you can really use it for any music genre
Logic is love.
Logic is life 🌹
I started with Fl 3.0 and then learned Reason.
I agree the MacBook Air and Logic Pro is all you would need (for electronic music)
But you said any style of music.
Obviously you need a lot of analog in and out to record real drums and guitar amps etc...
From my research, if you plan to produce EDM or a hybrid of EDM/Pop, Ableton = Cubase > FL Studio > Studio One > Logic Pro > Pro Tools
I really appreciate this video. I have been bouncing literally every DAW, spending so much money, and not getting anything done. Because of what you said here, I'm removing it all and getting to work. Thank you.
I think where it matters is the budget. Logic Pro X is the best bang for your M1 Mac.
My entire life i always ate french fries everyday and yes i dont care how you cook your potatoes and yes i only ate french fries but french fries is the best way to cook and eat potatoes. Jon uses logic.... the Daw not the word Logic!
Yeah... I have to catch myself doing this with Studio One. Except, I used Logic for 2 years before I switched. 😂
I love FL too much to switch
FL Studio ist the best program out there. And most of the Big artists are using it. Like Avicii, Martin Garrix etc.
@@crislynn6311 Avicii is inside the grave and Martin Might do his songs in fl but there mixed and mastered on pro tools even the vocals are recorded there 😂😂😂 fl is outdated. Even Alan walkers ghost producer uses cubace

You didnt tell any arguments why FL is outdated, you are just hating. And I really know which programm is the best for me, because I worked with Studio 1, FL, Cubase, Ableton, Pro-Tools and Logic. I am working as a producer for Boldt Berlin and Sony BMG and I made MY Deal with FL...
Since all you need is logic, i look forward to your next release being made with only logic and no other vst's at all. :)
Wouldn’t be a problem at all.
Alchemy is very cool, but a bit overwhelming.
Nowadays there is very little difference between all the major daws so someone starting out should play with trial versions and see which they prefer
exactly
Fl gang! 💪🏻💎
Great video! I'm also a logic user for life! What monitor are you using?
Sitting here @0:33 and I am not sure if that can be anything other than Logic, since this is the only DAW that you are familiar with I assume.
edit: Yeah, it was a little obvious. This is still such a personal thing. I would never switch to Mac. You are forced in your Computer hardware and I like to tinker with PCs a lot and use them for other purposes as well. You had so much trouble with your previous Mac Books, I am a little surprised that you didn't mention any of that. I choose my DAW based on the amount of tutorials and help I can get online. I don't regret my choice.
Hey Jon. How much storage do you have?
I switched from Logic to Ableton. I miss some of the features, but I can't go back now - I'm on a Windows PC 😂
just run mac on pc!! duhh
which features do you miss?
Every Daw is the same and the difference is in you how you use it in your creative process
What external HDD / SSD are you using with M1? Any particular specs? Projects stored on the external drives causing issues?
No issues. Got an internal 2 tb
Cubase for mixing and mastering, fl studio for beat making
Fl studio for literally nothing. It’s fine, but compared to Ableton, it just doesn’t have the same amount of control
just like all music making and artist crafts the best tools are all subjective. the best is releasing your own talent.
But can Logic create DSD files or at least PCM beyond 192kHz (384kHz, 768kHz)?
Logic was the best all rounder, but apple just don’t care enough to make it the complete product it could so easily be.
thanks... I almost buy Ableton, your video was so helpful!... I've suscribed to your Channel
great video bro
I purchased Ableton last summer and absolutely love that DAW. However, there's one thing that annoys me with Ableton compared to FL & Logic: they very recently announced Ableton Live 11 with some core features I'd love to have. But here I am, expected to pay another full price for it while Logic offers big updates for free & FL has life time free upgrades. That's a bad move by Ableton and I hope that they reconsider their pricing model vs. feature releases
Great video 🙏
THIS
And I guess one could even cut costs further with Cakewalk by BandLab
I prefer FL because its just much easier and it was what I started with
Hi Jon what screen is that u are using here ?
Are you getting any noise with your midas 500 rack?
Hard to say if Logic's the best, I auditioned all of the major DAWs a few years back and decided on Studio One. It all comes down to preference.
Ps. They all have minimal latency and if you want pretty much no latency for recording with plugins, go for a Universal Audio interface.
Ableton > Logic
Listen, it depends on your style, but if you want the most control over your sound waves, Ableton is the way to go.
That could change, but for now, Ableton is the Daw for producers who want more control over their sounds
Logic does have better built in VSTs tho
The session view is also unbeatable
For people that Star making music: Ableton and Logic.
For more advanced/ profesional music producers: Cubase and Studio One.
Exactly,
#FLGang 🔥
Would be interessting to hear a different opinion.
lol, thought this was going to be your first video about Ableton.
The thing that changed everything for me is when Apple bought alchemy and just included it in logic.
Instruments are last thing that matter with all the free synths and samples...
What keyboard/trackpad is that? Apple?
Reaper gang wya?
Logic indeed is the best for the bang of the buck now if you have mac
There's no one special app or program, you get whatever & you learn & grow..
Even something like The Melodics app can be rendered useless by just continuous practise
For make music you just need to want make music, is not about the Daw is about your skills and creative and imagination for Music and conect with people.
Apple has a winner with the M1. - There is a great new interview with Steve Porcaro on RUclips. For everybody who is interested in, how music comes about.
"Steve Porcaro on Accidentally Writing 'Human Nature' for Michael Jackson"
Mac is expensive..can't upgrade..so moving from Logic to Nuendo.
Let the Logic bashing begin :D
I use Zenbeats (ultimate unlock) with a Asus Rog desktop 😁
I've been using Logic since 2002 when it was still owned by German software company E-Magic and back then I paid £699. So glad Apple bought them out, as you had to pay for upgrades but now you don't, now that Apple own it.
Happy for people that have Macs. I'm a PC guy. Not going to switch DAWs because it requires a Mac. No way.
I choose Jesus ✌️
For me, the #1 advantage of Logic is compatibility. When I started producing, I purchased the full (and expensive) Reason suite. I switched to Logic 3 months later because the plugins I wanted wouldn't work. Compatibility is definitely a reason NOT to go with the less popular DAWs.
What happened to GarageBand? It’s free and from Apple.
15 years with fl studio!. so it's very unlikely that I will ever change my daw :D
I agree only for the first world you said you use one daw and go for it they all do the same but the mother of all Daw is Cubase never forget
I had Logic for a few years and never completed one song. Got FL Studio in May 2020 and already finished 5 songs. It works for me.
This was very good advice 👍
