As a Newcastle fan, i’m really pleased with our performance, but we didn’t have it all our way in the first half. I still think Villa will have a great season and Diaby looked good today. Good luck for the rest of the season
That match could have ended 8-1, but I can't help agreeing. You can see why NUFC chased Diaby.
Diaby did nothing outside the goal which fell his way. Good finish, but he did nothing else.

Villa keeper SHOULD have got a red. All told, Emery has his work cut out. Too much praise before a serious ball was kicked had perhaps Villa players thinking they were already there > The media and many MANY Villa fans thought they were too
Diaby did a lot, he was constantly trying to force pressure on the counter. You shouldn't down talk players based on the result rather than their performance.
He'd probably have had a second goal on the counter if Gordon didn't charge down from the left wing, across the pitch, catch up to Diaby and put pressure on him.

Made to feel welcome - more than you can say about villa Park...don't forget how we were treated the day we got relegated there in 2009 ....charging us £5 to drink in there pubs ..fans treat us like shit ...they celebrated at the final whistle like they had won the league ...then lined the roads to hurdle abuse at us...
How they mocked us as we were well wounded facing life in the championship ....

Newcastle are absolutely monstrous in midfield, and have one of the best forwards in the European football in Isak, not to mention Newcastle’s defence is rock solid 9 times out of 10, was always going to be an extremely hard ask going to st James park first game of the season, honestly believe you could count on one hand how many teams will be getting anything at st James this season.
They only lost two matches at SJP last season.

Lets put things into perspective, Newcastle were much better than us and will probably be challenging this year. Our heads went down after the third goal but before that we were quite lucky to be 2-1 down at half time. I just think Newcastle were much better than us. City never did that to us!

Emery will sort them out but personally, the media building Villa up had the opposite effect. Some of the rags went really over the top and the pea brained presenters and "experts" bafflingly downplaying Newcastle and pushing Villa had a positive effect on Newcastle and negative on Villa. But Villa will still be in the Top 7 mix at end of season

Mings wasn't "taken out" in the same way Miggy was by that alleged goal keeper. It was a coming together of 2 players with a weak player coming off worse
Totally agreed. Mings lost his footing, there was very little contact with Isak. Certainly not "taken out".
Also, Ming's was the one who tried to push Isak off the ball, all Isak did was stand his ground and keep going...surprised me tbh watching it back, when you compare their builds Ming's looks like he'd be much stronger, Isak is stronger than he looks
In the moment I thought taken out, remember we didn’t get a replay. Of course i know now that’s not the case.
That was the most honest opinion from a streamer I have seen in years.. Villa are no push over, and I believe they will rise in the months to come. After all the noise following a preseason friendly. Normal St James' Park service resumes for Villa. Still they are good team, and will do well this season, but Newcastle just look so much better, and dare I say more ready for the season.

Newcastle supporter here in peace, curious how you saw the game. Look, people will go over the top for both of us after this but in my opinion nothing has really changed in terms of the season. The Mings moment was awful, all the best to him. I think we only just edged the first half.
Your one silver lining might be forming a CB partnership of Diego Carlos and Torres- that could be fantastic.
I think fitness levels made things seem even worse for you, we looked much fitter as things went on but playing such a high line whilst being dominated in midfield was a recipe for trouble.
I expect you'll still get Europe and will have a good season but your injuries have been incredibly unlucky so far....Anyway, it's a long while since you laughed at us being relegated from that Damien Duff own goal....Not that I'm bitter, of course!
I completely agree with what you have said. You lot were physically superior to us, and that showed. Game was in the balance until Konsa mistake you then battered us and you have a very quick front line. Top 4 incoming for you.

Villa was amazing today, I think like you analyzed, the 3rd goal dropped the overall mood for Villa team, and a few key misses (that I would almost classify as howler, especially Cash's one, Watkins one also for someone his quality should be at least hitting the target) made it look a lot more one sided than it was. Howe has done a fantastic job with recruitment, training and developing a playing style, though.

As a Newcastle fan I wouldn't worry too much. As you said, prior to the Konsa error, you competed well and had you taken one of your chances, it could have been different. Yes it was worrying to capitulate in the last 30 minutes but Diaby will be a star and coming to St James is always hard. We got battered last season at Villa Park, so we'll see you again to put things right and pass the message on to Mcginn, the fire brigade are off strike!

As a Newcastle fan I thought the Villa fans really tried to carry the team through. It was evident though that physically they were well off the levels needed to go toe to toe with us for 105 mins. In pre season Eddie Howe picked players to play several 90min games whereas other teams have them 45 min to an hour. Disappointed most of you left when the 4th goal went in to be honest. Having said that not many players bothered to acknowledge those that stayed. Had Mings still been on the pitch he'd have made sure they did. You said it in your vlog that Watkins miss at 2-1 was massive. He looked poor, Diaby on the other hand was a threat very time he got the ball. You'll get a win next weekend against Everton.
I agree with every word you have said. I made sure to stay at the end, we got a few hands up apologies from the players but they have to not let that happen again this season. Your physicality; fitness and ability to use the crowd as the 12th man is frightening.
Me and my sons first away game and we staked until the end as I hate leaving games early just feels so unnatural to me, the season is long not just one game. WE HAVE TO STAND BY OUR TEAM! VTID! UTFV!
Even though in the end it was a pretty comfortable performance by us I personally wasn’t conformable until the 3rd goal went in cos I knew how good Villa were last season and I think they’ll be good again and to be fair for a large part of the first half I thought Villa were just the better team so it’s a pretty bad way to start the season but I don’t think it should have to much bearing on wherever yous lot end up

Villa had a good first half but second half their fittness levels progressively dropped .
Also has to be said is Bailey and Watkins good enough at this level .Both missed chances
The Tonali goal was world class
I got Watkins in my FPL so i believe in him just disappointed
We were out muscled and out ran for the last 25 mins and that wasn’t pleasing. Bailey not good enough but WatKINs is and will find a way with Diaby to connect.

As a Newcastle fan, villa were well in the game at 2-1 and I thought it could’ve been 2-1 either way at half time. Think once it went 3-1 your heads went down and our subs made a big difference. Villa will be fine this season definitely - top 8 at the very least, we were just too good in front of goal on the day.

As a Newcastle fan and who has watched every game last season. I can say, Villa on the counter seem to be the most deadly counter attacking team in the league. I can say Villa will easily Finnish in the top 7.

As a Newcastle fan the loss of Buendia is massive - equally NO team will fancy a trip to St James park, the additions of Tonali and Harvey barnes have added to a squad that only lost five all last year. Villa will be stronger this year, but the early season injuries will be a real blow.

I remember when we lost 5-1 to Spurs on the first season Howe took over. It was embarrassing, however, we've learned a lot since then and i think you are on a similar path as us, so please don't be too disheartened as i think there is really good things to come for you. It's not a nice feeling getting beat like this but this is only one game and you have 37 more games. 😊

Newcastle fan here. I watched this game with my mate who is a villa fan. Amazing result for us but I've been watching Villa last season and have seen how well you are doing. It a bit like what we have done. It's only one match and I wish you luck in the season but abviously want us to finish higher. Lets just hope Mings's injury is not a serious as it looks. Always horrible to see any player in that state.

Toon fan : Really good video. Professional. We could have had 8/9/10 today but in my opinion, it's the high line that's so catastrophic for Villa. It's an invitation to run through 1 on 1 on goal.
We were shaky for a 10/15 minute spell that first half and could well have conceded. Diaby looks the real deal and when he settles in he'll score goals. Haven't heard the news on Tyrone Mings yet. Hope it's not as bad as it looked. Good luck for the rest of the season boys.

The game was relatively even up until we scored the 3rd goal. However it was painfully obvious that we were the much fitter team and in the last 20 mins we tore yous apart. I think we will score a lot of goals in the last quarter of games this year simply due to fitness.
