The biggest threat to democracy is the people sitting in the US Congress and behind Mr. Mitsotakis, as well as the current President. I wonder how Mr. Mitsotakis can even talk about threats to democracy without mentioning out of control inflation, and the wide open border of the southern United States, which is designed to completely change the demographics of a sovereign nation. He talks about electricity grids and not purchasing Russian gas, but he doesn't recognize the incredible power of the United States' ability to export energy - because we aren't doing it. My grandparents came to America in the wave of Greek immigrants that Mr. Mitsotakis mentioned in the latter part of his speech. They came here and were not given anything for free from the US government. They came here legally and were proud of their earned American citizenship and they assimilated to this country, and raised their children to be patriots.

I think it should be investigated if the Greece state now and then is legislated with the Bible written as a story. The word immunity (Latin immunitas, freedom from obligations to the state) comes from a religious revelation from the middle ages, most likely from a pope to become lawless, and which has since been rewritten into full immunity, personal and functional immunity (legally, cannot be prosecuted for criminal act) to the president, prime minister congress, ministerial council, and Supreme Court for law decisions and actions. The political exploitation of the vital ecosystem has now led to forest death (force majeure) and the distance between the sun and Antarctica (the thermostat) is destroyed, how will it affect people's economy, etc?
I think the democrats can be a consciously misleading party name with all parties belonging to the conservative party, as current political democracy and socialism can only be about going more toward the middle, eg. social democrats. The reason may be that the president wants to govern the people with full immunity together with the prime minister, speaker, congress, ministerial council, and parliament, with functional immunity, and personal immunity for law decisions and actions, even with the misleading word professional politician.
I think the people should consider voting for a real democratic party with an independent state formation to investigate if the president, prime minister, speaker, congress, ministerial council, government, and parliament overall may be guilty of a violation of democratic rights with misleading elections, economic crimes, violation of human rights with class society for adults and children, serious environmental crime (force majeure).

Greece was not influenced by Latins in matter of religion. Do not forget that the New Testament was originally written in Greek (Koine Greek to be precise which is a form of Greek very near to modern Greek). From the day the New Testament was written, in all Greek churches the liturgies are being held in the original language, until this day. So the New Testament in Greece was never translated, it still is in its original form. That is why the Great Schizm happened in the first place, Greeks thought the Latin translation of the bible was not faithful to its original Greek form and allowed interpretation (such as the filioque). So when the differences between Greek-speaking citizents of Eastern Roman Empire(Byzantine Empire) and the Latin-speaking citizents of Western Roman Empire grew large, the Great Schizm took place and the Orthodox faith was followed by Greek-speaking population who kept New Testament in its original form and Catholic church was followed by Latin-speaking population. So the Latin revelations did not influence Greece which kept New Testaments original text into all liturgy usages for millenia and even today the liturgies in the Greek-Orthodox Churches are being held with the original Greek text and not any translation.

To get a better appreciation of what he actually said, I read the transcript (provided in drop box).
Most of it was hyperbole about history in architecture and the initial process of democracy by a Senate, but what he really is saying is that they want money from USA to aid their infrastructure. They are also accepting the help of private companies of Microsoft & JP Morgan to help them complete the same type of information warfare against it's people as our government is now doing to us, in not allowing debate and differing objectives of opinion.
He is embracing totalitarianism whilst saying how terrible autocracy & totalitarianism is.
    He is two-faced.
But he doesn't care as long as he can get USA tax $$ out of it.
He also shares the Agenda 2030 plan of globalization, which is NOT a good thing.
Also, anyone who bothers to seek the actual truth (which sadly will be few), will know that Putin did not suddenly decide to invade Ukraine without provocation.
The territories he has entered have BEEN at war for the past eight years BECAUSE those areas voted to be independent from Ukraine to either return to Russia or have their own State.
(Just as Kosovo did from Serbia, but UN wouldn't recognize it. And Montenegro from Yugoslavia. As well as Macedonia from Yugoslavia. Both without any wars. But Ukraine refuses to give independence to the East Ukranians.)
Ukraine has been killing those people over it rather than allowing them their democratic right of vote.
This is information our government doesn't want you to know, and Greece supports.
Greece also cannot claim to have never been expansionists, Alexander the Great murdered millions. No differently than the Romans or the Mongrel Khan's. Nor of USA colonists against the American Indian.
No country on this planet is innocent or righteous in their oppression of common people's.
In fact, GREECE has been horrible (placing trade embargos and denying UN votes, etc) to the independent State of Macedonia simply because of the name they chose for their State.
So much for the democracy of freedom from Greece.
But, at the moment, Russia is not trying to expand. They are trying to defend the rights of the people in those areas.
There much information available but soon our government will hide that under their new tyranny of the information ministry.

Excellent! Perhaps if Mr. Mitsotakis is so interested in "democracy" and peace, he should be the first to try to broker a deal between Russia and the Ukrainians. After all, they are all Orthodox Christian countries, and that may provide some common ground. Instead, it sounds like he's all in for a continued prolonged war between Russia and Ukraine.

It's saddening that Americans don't appreciate the irony of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the biggest threat to the dwindling democracy of Greece, talking about democracy, and freedom over tyranny. My country is sadly heading on an increasingly authoritarian path. Our freedom of the press is greatly supressed. Separation of judicial, executive, and legislative is completely non-existent. Corruption is normal and even expected here.
The only expression of democracy remaining in Greece is that every 4 years, we do in fact hold democratic elections. But the way these elections work, a party only needs 35% of the vote in order to achieve complete autocracy, with no other checks and balances. Wow, what a great democratic system!

    • @stavrosvasiliadis2424

@@nt_developer You only got part of the reason. For one the leaving NATO part was during a period where Greece's government had been basically taken over, so Piyasa is giving off half truths which equals lying but its still a fact that such a thing had happened even though under an unlawful "government".
On the matter of Turkey though the reasons are that Turkey has repeatably, especially recently, has proven it self an untrustworthy "ally". Having energy/technological dependence by Russia while being in NATO? Check, nuclear power stations. Having military dependence on Russia while being in NATO? Check. Having even more juntas / governments taken over than Greece? Check (but this is not a major reason just like in Greece's case). Wanting to use critical Russian defense systems that can analyze critical US/NATO defence systems and providing Russia (and possibly China and others) with ways to counter them more efficienctly also risking military industrial secrets to be leaked away? Check (S-400).
Before any of you or some other Turk / Turkish supporter start crying about the Russian weapons, let me educate you that when Greece wanted to buy Russian weapons (actually under the same political party as now but with different PM) and actually signed the deal 1 decade ago or so, USA also went bat-shit crazy, "threatened" us and run operations here to force the deal to be broken (again it was already signed). Meanwhile that deal was less critical than the one Turkey made: Was about 400 or so APCs/IFVs (not even tanks but still important) that would cause military dependence but no risk of leaking NATO systems vulnerabilities which S-400 can do and a gas conductor passage which would cause some financial and energy dependence (lower than Turkey's with Russian nuclear reactors and tbh not unlike what Germany etc ended up having from Russia).
So the whole USA flipping on Turkey about S-400 and russian reactors HAD to be expected, even more so since Turkey was supposed to operate the latest US/NATO aircraft which focused on electronic systems and stealth (F-35). Nothing weird there... the weird thing is that Turkey somehow expected that it would be spared as usually and have an exception made for it - again as usually.
The latest sh!tstorm happening in Turkey with Erdogan, the supposed coup, the public arrests, the whole jailing people en masse with little evidence/process, Turkey running its own conflicts sometimes countering what NATO/USA etc plan is just the cherry on top. Furthermore its the only country that has another country under threat of war nevermind both countries being in NATO. This wasn't a major reason either but it all add up.
Main reason is Erdogan's recent unpredictability, Turkey's political and social systems unpredictability/instability, increasing dependence on Russia on various critical sectors (this is also btw the same reason why India isn't even talking and blocks decisions against Russia invading Ukraine) all these make Turkey untrustworthy especially in the light that all these are happening under Erdogan who ironically is by far the most dependable, "teamplayer" and diplomatic of Turkish political leaders and everyone else is much worse / more authoritarian and nationalistic than him.
