Haven't played with a radical since I was a junior, maybe 20 years ago. I don't see many other club players using them and surprisingly little info on them
Another great vid, Jonas. You point toward how talents like Nicky look for light platforms like the MP on which to add weight precisely where they need it. Heavier frames like the pro are often weighted in places (toward the middle) some don't need it. So top players often go for lighter frames that allow them to add weight where they need it. What a great topic to explore!
I don’t understand why the changed the radical from the old style-in my opinion, the Blade was Wilson’s answer to the 18x20 radical (similar to the open/head radical being Wilson’s/head’s) answer to pure drive. Obviously, the blade is now arguably the most popular players frame on tour, and head just dropped this ancestry-I dont understand it
the open radical is not even close to the pure drive, but yes its closer than the old radical ( which is outdated ). I would say 90% of amateur players would play better with the new radical just because its easier to use. Ive used the old TI.radical all my life and switched to this new radical, for me they did the right thing. But theres always gonna be ppl that like those vintage imposible to use frames that feels great to hit but you cant win a set with ( like Pro Staff 85 lol )
@@LaSalviaBodysurf I'm not comparing the radical to the pure drive - I am saying that the blade was wilson's imitation of the old radical (just like wilson's open is a imitation of the specs of a pure drive).
@@LaSalviaBodysurf THe old style of radical is very similar to the blade - so it clearly isn't outdated (as the blade is one of the most popular rackets in the world among competitive players if not the most popular)
@@evanbechtel5902 well my old radical was 95 head with 18x20, thats usually not the best for todays game, but the more recent radicals are. The new radicals are actually similar to the blade (16x19) , if you lead up the radical to get similar SW. But I actually prefer the radical because of more room for customization and little bit higher stiffness. So the new rad for me is great for competitive players if you want a 16x19 frame. Blade is more popular because they also have 18x20 right
Really torn between Radical Pro, Speed Pro, PA98, and the new Percept 97D. Which is best for 4-4.5 allcourter with OHBH and better volley? Main racket: VC 95 and EZ Tour 2022
I think if you maybe did a video on wheelchair players and compare how they customise their racquets compared to able bodied players and see if there is any difference in weight preference, stiffness etc
Hi Jonas. You gave me some advice almost 2 years to switch from my old school 90sq pro staff to the extreme tour. I’ve been playing the the extreme tour since then. Extra lead 3/9 and leather grip for stability. It’s been great and I love the power and spin, but I feel like I now need a bit more control. I play with a lot of spin and deep balls, but I feel like a need just a bit more precision. I like weighted racquets. Should I look at radical pro, speed pro, or gravity pro? Thanks so much
Maybe you can get that just through higher tension. One more pound on the whole string bed. Or two more pounds in the crosses. Or viceversa. It be great to know what you find. Cheers mate
I used a pt113 iradical and I got the ‘21 Radical Pro. It’s a little hard to maneuver but I play well with it and like the freedom I can swing with when I can get the racquet ready in time. I then got the V8 Blade Pro 18x20 and I played it side by side with my pt113 iradical and they play pretty similar. Now I don’t know which I like better lol
Yesterday I bought used head 660 Galaxy seems old but I couldn't find any specs nor info about it. Heavy as hell after putting two overgrips it weights 363,1 grams (I laugh about it that it's pro staff from head) but it is amazing racquet and it is one of the best that I have ever played
Can you please do a video on racquet 'layup'? You and others have been so positive about the feel of the Head Pro Tour 2.0, why dosn't Head use this layup on their current models as an option. So many modern raquets seem so lifeless. I'm addicted to my Wilson Blade Pro (H22) which just feels so good compared to everything else I've tried over the last few years. I also loved the Ultra Tour. Is the 'layup' of these more expensive to produce? Why don't Wilson use this layup in other moulds? Thanks
Jonás - thanks for the video. Question related to customization: I’ve heard that I could change grip pallet on a head racquet. Do you what I would I need to do to replace 4 1/2 grip with 4 3/8 on my 2021 head racquet, if that is even possible?
get new pallets and then strip the grip, remove the buttcap, use an exacto knife to clean up residue glue and replace with new pallets and fasten either with tape or glue - replace butt cap and add grip
I’ve played with every radical since 1999 and the liquid metal radical and am currently using the 2022 PRO and def a big fan of if. I play a lot and coach about 40 hours a week. What tip for customizing do you have to get a faster swing weight. Thanks
Bad news 4 you. Reducing swingweight is virtually impossible... Try with: 1. throw away protective bumpers 2. scratch away all the paint 3. mount very thin strings @ very high tension 4. cut off unecessary envelops of grip and overgrip (especially if u use 1 handed bh) 5. forget antivibrations pad
@@sefermemisoglu3800 I'd like to remark that your suggestions dont pull down the swingweight of the raquet, but eventually bump it up. Have you tried to mesure on a machine?
Lowering the static balance adding static weight causes a change in feeling the raquet in your hand (cheat for the brain) but dont pull down dynamic swingweight. Instead your shoulder will feel the overall higher static weight.
I experienced on all my raquets, because I tried to feel Babolats (strike and aero) as weeppie as Wilson ProStaff 6.0 95 without all that weight (358 strung!) But i found hard reality. U can always try to find better feeling 4 u (I myself mounted leather grips on every raquet), but swingweight measure goes only up..
I just switched to the Radical MP. I liked the feel of the MP but the weight of the Pro. So I added some lead to the hoop and tungsten putty to the handle. My MP now weighs about the same as the Pro. My only complaint is that the paint chips easily any suggestions on touch up paint?

Excellent comment. Spot on. Those stock heavier frames have less polarization. And move sluggish and less whipping.
I miss the old radicals. For now I've switched back to my flexpoint radicals. I'm just getting back into tennis.
Same! Best radical was the ig line for me
@@EdsCollegeLife would buy them in an instant but can't find them anywhere. That racquet is so good

Are all racquets made by hand? If so, is that because it's cheaper to make them by hand?

What’s the closest racket to the radical mp?
Head extreme tour
Dunlop cx 200

I got almost no spin with the 2021 radical pro...unacceptable. never tried the mp tho
Then you are doing something wrong 😀
had a similar problem, changed strings and put less weight (21kg) and im getting very good spin right now.
