You’re not a trained fighter pilot! You’ve learnt all this from your own research! Your ability to learn, absorb, prioritise, summarise & re-present all this in such a clear, precise & orderly way makes you an exceptional fellow! Thank you, very informative 🫡
Thank you for the kind words, I hope you enjoyed :)
ive seen so many bfm videos. this is easily the one which explains and demonstrates everything the clearest.
amazing work! excitedly waiting for the next episodes
I’ve been flying DCS for several years. This is without doubt the clearest BFM tutorial I’ve seen. I will need to watch it a couple more times. Having been a teacher for 30+ years I congratulate you on your clarity and communication skills. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words William, it is greatly appreciated! I am currently working on the second part of this series, and I hope it will be as well received as this part
I'm glad you quoted DCS Debrief: I'll pass on your reference, I'm sure he'll be chuffed.
"Lose sight, lose the fight!" I've spent a descent amount of time in the RCP during IFF engagements making VR/360 videos for the purpose of training content for the USAF and you have done a great job explaining it. Congrats! One thing we use for gauging distances is the tail numbers and base letters as well as the engine cans, for instance turning into single can at farther distances. I have some 360 videos on my page if your interested in seeing real life BFM engagements.
Wow! Just had a look at some of your videos, love the 360 view with the GoPro Infront of you. I have read about the gauging distance in some manuals, such as when the pilot becomes a blob then the cockpit disappears entirely. I believe there is a Talon mod coming out soon™, which I hope to fly and get a feeling for. Thank you for the words of support!
You have done very well explaining one of the hardest things for us to teach in the Air Force. Nice work.
10/10 Video, the animations are great to help visualize concepts!
Thank you for the kind words Tabs! Love your shorts videos
@echovictordcsworld I will direct newbies wanting to learn the basics to this video, it's very info dense and well explained! I'm going to have to use animations at some point now! Do you mind telling me what software you used for them? Also are you in DCS dogfighters?
Glad to hear it! I use daVinci Resolve for all of my graphics, using simple text boxes for the highlighting ("[ ]" For example) and the Fusion page for more complex graphics (range circles on the BVR Vs WVR comparison). I will be releasing the offensive and defensive BFM videos soon™ which should hopefully also be useful for newcomers.
@echovictordcsworld I have been putting off actually learning fusion for a long time, guess I need to start learning it properly now, lol. Keen for the next video mate, keep it up!
@@Tabs_Original Learning about masks and planar trackers are the most helpful points I looked at. Hope the next video is up to standard 😂
Brilliant. This channel always sets the standard for DCS tutorials!
Thank you for the kind words, I'm sure there are things I've missed out, but I'm glad you enjoyed!
Simply amazing! Thanks for that! What a great foundation to dig deeper and/or double check to tick you boxes.
Tacview overlay with an explanation of the maneuvers is great - makes it much easier to understand; Appreciate the condensed info on the topic and cadence.
Would love to see an indepth radar tutorial, thank you! Youre the best up to date tutorial, keep up the good work!
Will definitely be looking at a radar tutorial in my upcoming BVR tutorial
What a tremendous amount of work! Excellent! As a pilot myself I wanted to make tutorials like this, but amount of recordings, editing and animation required for this to be accomplished were terrifying me)
Спасибо, Recording editing and animating are certainly a big task, especially when trying to fit it around personal commitments. Glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic video. Clear concepts and animation make easy to understand it. You are not a fighter pilot but you know how to do the thing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Outstanding!
Thank you!
I dont say this lightly but this video was perfect.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed
This is a good summary of so many other videos and information out there. It has good animation and use of visuals. I was sceptical before since this kind of video has been done 100x, but I like the compressed info style. Well done. A BVR video in the same style would be a great addition.
Glad to hear it was useful. I aim to try and make my videos nice and condensed, so happy to hear it is well received. I know how many other videos cover the same topics, so it is tricky to make this stand out. I'll definitely be looking at BVR combat in an ACM series, looking at longer range tactics, and Section Engaged Manoeuvring where multiple aircraft attack another one
This just got saved to my DCS tutorial playlist! SO GOOD man! Thanks for this. Much needed! :)
Nice video comparison of pilot view and TacView. The presenttion is consise and very informative.
Thank you! I think it's good to have the two side by side, as you can see what is actually happening compared to what you see in the cockpit.
Subscribed to support your channel, great concise presentation of the concepts with clear visuals. Keep up the good work, wishing you success.
Man. Cant wait to watch this in 3 years when i get off the runway
😂 Do you fancy a startup taxi takeoff tutorial
Excellent vid
good brief... really clear...looking forward to the next!
I hope the next video will be as well received as this one!
excellent stuff, thanks for creating and sharing
this is so so good. we need more!!!!
Thanks Olly! I'm glad I am on Christmas break from University, so I can work on the other parts of the video now. Stay tuned 🫡
Excellent vid, as always... 😎
Thanking you sir 😎
thanks i cant wait for part 2
Very nice guide
Drop moar
Nice video. Look forward to seeing you in DCS dogfighters server
great tutorial
and well made
thanks
Thanks for the shout out! An excellent summary and I’m really pleased someone has taken up the baton! CFS trained by any chance?
No worries at all, your videos were brilliant and I thought I'd have a crack at it. Not CFS trained (yet), but have some flying experience in the Tutor through UAS
What else than a merge u would classify as an emergency in real life? I think using the paddle during real life combat would be the norm since u only have that one opportunity to bend your wings before exploding into small piece.
7:19 This is completely opposite of what the Air Force is teaching. I just don't understand why we can't get on the same page!!!
Strange... I would assume Angle off the Tail would be the same for AF and Navy. 0° on the targets tail, 180° directly ahead. How is it taught in the Air Force?
Part 2…now please
😂 I love your enthusiasm. It is currently in the works, but should be out soon™
Are you going to make a part 2?
Hi! Yes I will be making a Part 2, but unfortunately I am a University student doing this in my spare time so I'm not able to work on these videos very often
"... un-sportsmen-like..." huh? Must be Gen Z and Millennial; they seem to not understand what war is all about...
Lmao you think dogfighting hasn't been a honorable sport like thing since world war one? Sport and honor have been a thing in bfm since before your time.
😂 Very true. If you're in a 1v1 dogfight you are almost certainly in an "emergency" so using it is definitely justified, but remember that once you've killed the hostile, you still have to get back to base, and there may be others waiting for you
"It's beneficial to have a VR headset"
No, not really. It's way harder to actually have to spin your real head around to see behind you than it is to look 20 degrees off your monitor and let trackIR spin your head around like a possessed owl. VR is another example where realism is a detriment to game performance outcomes even though it's a much more fun way to fly.
TrackIR is definitely easier than a VR headset to use. With VR you are able to distinguish the distance more accurately with depth perception, making manoeuvres a lot easier. You are correct to say that TrackIR is easier though. Hope you enjoyed the video
This is an excellent assembly of material! Subbed and added to our community resource recommendations 🫡
@TacticalDCS wow! Thank you for the kind words of recommendation. I am a long time viewer of your channel and Tactical Pascale, and have inspired me to start my own channel. Glad you enjoyed!
