Great stuff! This is gold bro. There are so many plugins/effects that I don't really know what they do or the history of the device they are emulating. I'm happy to have this video, it explains a lot. Thank you!
Whoa! That solo button! Speaking as someone who is quickly losing their hearing, and winds up relying way too much on visual respresentations instead of their own untrustworthy ears, I wish EVERY plugin had that. So, that is taking the original signal out and leaving only what would be added, right? That is very cool. In fact, I could see using that by itself to find neat things, like sending that signal out alone to other things... phlangers.. reverbs.. whatever... then mix back in. Seems like a whole new little universe to explore. Thank you!
These tutorials on mixing has really given me the knowledge of how approach this now with my own music. It was such a sticking point for me I wouldn't actually create at all. Now I'm starting to break out of this artist block and move forward.
@TheCratesMotel thank you for all the hardwork you've put into these. Maybe someday soon I'll quit my career as a machinist and go to audio school to become an engineer. I don't want to work in a dirty machine shop running lathes and mills for the rest of my life.
i love the effect, i know a clipping diode is the kind of distortion in a ProCo Rat which they also make in a guitar cord, i saw Analog Kitchen has a 1/8 to 1/8 cable with a clipping diode but couldn't source it and don't know how they differ or not, or how the effect is related so it's great to see someone know how to use it, and that sample sounded like Steve Miller Take the Money and Run, most of NWA Straight out of Compton is made primarily from that album
The problem with this gen .They think a plugin solves everything. Mixing to me is to level volumes and blending tracks sect! without any processing and if needed yes FX /plugin time. You have dope content! Its not an attack on you Crates Motel i'm just talking!
I 1000% agree mate. Getting the initial levels right is the most important thing. If a person can’t get that right, no amount of plugins will solve it.
It is literally the next video I am shooting mate. I am not going to do a deep dive technical video though. It will be more a real world situation video, showing how I use it.
Thanks man. We asked, you provided. I actually requested this one so I really appreciate the video.
You are welcome mate

Yeh great album. I love Steve Miller, especially his early stuff.
