I’ve been reading the novels for a few years now but this project is the inspiration I needed to finally dive into the miniature scene. Ordering a box of Skitarii now to finally start a forge world.
Gonna give you the best advice anybody will give you ever relating to 40k: DO NOT buy GW miniatures, every day that goes by it's a worse proposition to start spending money on those bloodsuckers. Go get yourself a 3D printer and you will have many many more miniatures and much more money in your pocket by the end.

They completely fucked over all the people on youtube that created fan fiction, they charge egregiously high prices for their product, and from what ive heard from people that worked there, they dont exactly treat their employees very well. Add to that the insane amounts of rule supplements you have to by to be able to play in tournaments, it seems like they are just asking to get fucked over. They wont even allow game producers to license the ultramarines unless they are certain the game will sell well. GW is the perfect model of "we are going to control so much of our IP we are going to shoot ourselves in the foot with an overpowered plasma pistol." I had high hopes that a movie would get made, but now I dont want it since the way GW operates will make it a steaming pile of shit. I still buy their stuff because i dont believe in stealing, but I also have a lot of ideas about how i want my army to look so when I get a 3d printer I will certainly mix a lot of my custom ideas into my battle force.

You inspired my son , at a garage sale we had seen and bought a 3 foot Voltron , with a lot of garage sale tank models , of all scales. Dumpster diving and dollar (fifty), store purchases ... we are plodding along after church every Sunday for 3 hours. l insisted we made a blueprint ... ( when we are done l will have a copy of the blueprints framed for the hobby room. Thank you for the updates , they are informative and inspiring. Congrats on the move , be safe ,be well.
i know you've said how you have no delusions about actually using the titan in a game, but as far as I know there are actually dedicated titan groups you can join who do actually try and have games with their massive legions

I always assumed that Eric was the handsome brother; but no, it was Kirk all along. The Eric's Hobby Titan Legion is awe-inspiring. The t-shirt design is very grim-dark. The inking style reminds me of Bryan Talbot's work.
We don't know each other, but I am also a canuck who lived abroad for a few years. Welcome home. And a tip from theatre set world: you can protect foam with cheap bed sheets from the thrift store painted on with PVA. It is poor man's fiberglass.

Haha You single handedly inspired me to build my own Mordheim table and invite my friends to play. None had played wargames before and now we play once a month and they're all collectors and hobbyists now too haha.

Impressive, most impressive. There's been a dude over on Bolter & Chainsword scratch-building an Imperator from plasti-card and PVC pipe for about 4 years.
From 2018 until 2020 I pushed my dinky old FDM printer to its limits and printed (and painted) a warlord titan (I think its size is 80% of an original). I'm not a GW tabletop player or anything and it was more of pushing myself and my printer to see what would even be possible but it's so much fun to spend to much time on a single object! I totally get why creating dioramas are so much fun.
i've only really gotten into warhammer lore and figs, this is insane and i love it! wish the best for you in the future aswell as everyone reading this

To scale, a war hound is 12-15 inches tall, depending on how you build the knees. Imperator is 7ft. I read somewhere a Reaver is 18inches tall? (Might be wrong)
Hey dude! I'm just finding you now, this is amazing! One bit of advice, make the two sides at the same time as you move up. Each piece you make for the one side, use that as a template for the other side. Just makes life a little easier. You're doing awesome!

The colour is suspect, and I realized very recently there was no certificate when i tried to join the Titan owners club. I don’t know why I didn’t for a moment think about the possibility that they might recast until weeks later. You wouldn’t think a big vendor at Adepticon would sell a fake, but who knows. This is something i will explore and get to the bottom of in a future video.
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop So I have purchased some recasts in the past, and years ago worked with a lot of Forgeworld models. Some signs of recasting are double mold lines, and the resin has a stronger chemical smell than FW resin. Hope you didn't get scammed, ;_;
@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Having few recast models myself, I did recognize some 'extra sharp' edges that make me believe both your titans are recasts. Like in 2:13 and 2:27, all those very sharp edges in the detailing. Once you paint the models you can't really tell the difference unless you know what you are looking for with very close up inspection. Another common feature of the recasts I had was when drilling into them for magnets etc: FW resin comes out dry and doesn't smell much, some of the recasts have rather strong smell once you drill in and feels "wet" to drill into. Hope the price was reasonable for you.

Very new to your channel and very interested to see this project progress and ultimately finish. Most interesting bit is when your superimposed the blown up miniature image over the hotel. Really hits home how much GW has shrunk titans so they can make big bucks selling to scale ones playable in 40k. I remember in the Forges of Mars trilogy which isn't that old, there is a scene describing how a company of infantry can fire from the battlements of a Warlord and two Thunderhawks can land on its shoulders. Which looks like about what the roof of your hotel can accommodate. I love how even official artwork still has Imperators absolutely, ridiculously huge practically poking through the cloud layer with a whole downtown on their shoulders, when the current scale has them as big as Warlords used to be. Also, really cool to see the interior detail of FW titans. Their website has some photos, but you showed a lot more (had no idea the ceiling servitor was a thing!).

You should try fiberglass to harden up the foam you can get it in sheets lay it over and then paint on the resin. Just a suggestion

How big are Reaver and Warhounds compared to this towering giant canonically?
I'm pretty sure a Warlord comes up to its' knees, which means a Reaver would maybe come up to about half its lower leg???
