The first 30 seconds has brought tears to my eyes, well, actually the entire production. This golden era shutdown 32 years ago today. Yes, those magnificent aircraft and all those true professionals. Taxiway LL, the Kennedy VORTAC, and 31L . . .JFK! This is where Mom and Dad took me, to Idlewild as a baby. I was hooked! Pan Am, TWA, American, United ruled then, with the whole world passing in parade. The observation deck at the IAB and the parking lot on top of the PA Worldport. Where I spent my teens with my Sony Airband, and led to my aviation education, piloting, and career. I love it, I miss it. Thank you Mom and Dad forever, with Love. Respect to all in the aviation industry past and present. A grand time to be there. Thanks for presenting this great video!
There is a reason they stopped existing, they were arrogant as hell, never made friends in the right places, thus the other airlines survived and Pan Am failed
Hell, who DIDN'T have a 747 in them days?!? My god, still the greatest airliner ever - for their day a technical marvel and unchallenged in the air for over thirty years - what other jet has that record? They STILL look huge - imagine how they appeared to the eyes of 1970!
Those who missed this era in commercial aviation will undoubtedly never-ever truly realize what air travel was like back then. Today’s lay-flat seats and IFE systems simply can’t compare to the overall inflight services that most carriers operating the B74s provided you here. Great memories viewing this...I really enjoyed it.
I remember these earlier Pan Am jingles and was still had them in my head! I'm glad that you were able to compile them... Thanks for the memories ...They epitomized the excitement of air travel when travel was exciting and glamorous!
I worked for Pan Am in 1987 until they closed down in December 4 1991 it was a sad day it was the such a iconic airline that started the airline industry
If you go to 7:59 of the video, would you happen to know what late 60s group is singing that iteration of "Getaway"? It's super groovy! All the versions in this video are fabulously orchestrated & vocally stunning...Love it 💓
The paint schemes on the old airliners sure are cool. I like the polished metal look on the belly. The Northwest Orient at the beginning has it, you just don't see that anymore.
Bons tempos.
Unfortunately bad management was the downfall of Pan Am, but what a great vid seeing the liverys of the various carriers and the aircraft types most of which are no longer in passenger service
So BEAUTIFUL this is....I am right back into the seventies and regret that I did not have the opportunity to fly in all these different types of aircraft as I wish. It is all history now and almost all planes are Boeings 737, 777 and so on. The real icons are gone forever...
4.10 onward shows the brand new Melbourne airport ( Tullamarine) with Ansett DC 9, QANTAS V Jet 707 and 747 TAA Boeing 727. And Concorde ! Great footage !!
Since Qantas 747 and 707 was in the video i just want to say Happy 100th birthday Qantas, as next yeat they will be the second longest airline next to KLM
4.10 Melbourne new Tullamarine. And on TAA and Ansett 727. QANTAS 707 v Jet.And Pan Am too. QANTAS 747 too Australian registration is always VH. Lots of DC 9s. And BOAC super VC 10. And Concorde. QANTAS is flying the 717 now, last version of the DC9.
Por años busqué esta canción en español, me trae gratos recuerdos de niño, de un programa que daban en televisión mostrando destinos de Pan Am. Gracias

My goal in life is to bring Pan Am back to life. Even if it's with just one 747 I would do anything just to see Pan Am Empire flying again.
p51mustangflyer I’m with you !!!!
I’m on board with you pan am must come back bye any means necessary
p51mustangflyer as a former Pan Am employee I'm 💯 with you let's do this and I'm serious.
There is a reason they stopped existing, they were arrogant as hell, never made friends in the right places, thus the other airlines survived and Pan Am failed

Great! Most beautiful and exciting period of aviation. B747, DC-10, L-1011 altogether!
Feel nostalgic when flying was fun even in coach, amazing services, really miss it !

Love the Australian content on this video......makes me nostalgic for TAA and Ansett who no longer exist, yet they were once our two biggest carriers.
And Qantas and TAA were both government-owned and their ticket prices, schedules and routes all regulated by the Department of Transport.
Boeing should do the last 747 delivey as if she was from PanAm

Need to add "Pan Am, we fly the world the way the world wants to fly" Theme. It came out in 1979.
Back when air travel was something special! We used to get dressed in our best clothes to fly! Now it's like hauling freight!!
The Lettermen of old first sang this PanAm advert song when they were commissioned to sing it. Jim Pike Gary Pike and Tony Butala.

My goal also bring back Pan Am back to life than ever
¡Hermoso....! Recuerdos de mi infancia, en los 1960's. ¡Excelente compilado!

Love it. F everything and everyone and go on a vacation. 🤣
Teach your dreams how to fly. Spread your wings. Say goodbye!

Avianca is the second one, QANTAS will be the third 😋
Oh, okay then, had no idea avianca was 2nd
Love seeing all the classic liveries. Anyone know who wrote the Pan Am song? Something very Burt Bacharach about it.
2:28 It almost looked like the plane was "frozen" in the air.
Супер❤️❤️❤️спасибо за ролик💋
There's supposed to be a Frank Sinatra PAN AM song somewhere, from about 1980.

These songs are depressing
No they aren’t! They are a nostalgic memory of the Jet Age. Stop hating on Pan Am 👎
@@avtom_ They are both. It's sad that Pan Am, the airline of the flying clippers and the space plane in 2001 is no longer with us.
