Good shit John this exactly why I ignore fans and listen to professionals and experts, Fans are spoiled and entitled and think they know better than the experts and professionals, JJ deserves a chance and was coached by one of the greatest coaches of all time, He was wanted by the NBA champions Celtics 2 years ago to be on their staff, So what he hasn’t been a HC doesn’t mean he can’t coach and doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a high basketball IQ! They're literally having a championship parade tomorrow. When fans are trying to find hope in the inane ramblings of Kendrick Perkins, it's ominous. If Redick came out the TNT booth instead of ABC/ESPN I have doubts that the spin would be the same.

If JJ can get Rondo on his staff (Bron has been encouraging him to get into coaching for years) that handles the AD equation of things and helps immensely in getting the respect of the locker room. Plus that’s at least 3 guys with known high basketball IQ in the locker room (including Bron).
We finally have a coach. I'm happy for JJ. who he hires on his staff is going to be more important to his success and/or failure as a head coach. But I am excited and we simply just need to get back to work. Because Boston has banner 18 and we need to catch up. That is the only thing that matters.
There's no question JJ is a brilliant basketball mind and has the work ethic to leave no stone unturned to succeed in the job. It's about surrounding him with an experienced staff that can translate those great ideas into strategy into tactics and execution. He'll need a good, a very good player development coach and a damn good scouting staff to game plan. The team needs to fill a few holes like an athletic rebounding, shot blocking big, get whole as a healthy team and utilise that depth in the regular season. He's got to prioritize the regular season a lot lot more than the previous coaches.
This makes a lot of sense now, i think it all comes down to JJs competitive nature in everything. Everything he’s achieved across sports media in a short time, I guess that’s that’s no co incidence either. That man just wants to be great at what he does, doesn’t care about anything else. I hope this works out for us.

Always thought (from inside talk) they planned to hire JJ,. the UCONN guy was a McGuffin. The Lakers stated at the outset they wanted someone who could grow with the franchise, and train young players over time in a designed program. He was always the 'new' fit.
The pod where he talked to hurley has me thinking he might be on the same type of timing as far as creative thinking in the league. 3 to 4 guys always in motion. Its gonna be ugly early but ill like to see how this turns out

The bottom line is there is a lot of good traits about Reddick. The question is will that translate to becoming successful as a first time coach, that justifies hiring him over other coaches with more experience.

Well said. We’ve had plenty of VERY experienced coaches that didn’t work out either i.e. Brown, Dantoni. I wish him and OUR Lakers success 👍
