Looks Like Rain is so beautiful and Passenger was such a good rocker - pity it fell out of rotation, it is one of the songs that make the 70's so special!!
Great start to a 3 day weekend 🎸🎉👍 Back then, it was bittersweet when they left the band...saw lots of great Keith & Donna shows back in '77 and '78🎵🎶 But the Brent era certainly was amazing, too🎹 Have a wonderful day, Elaine 🌞🏖✌️⚘️
Those were the days. Lots of good long jams and dancing for hours. I remember this was a great show. Thanks for sharing! Will listen later while we get more California rain today. For now zzzzzz with Jerry noodling...in my brain.
@@eletricnaneland352 yup. Jerry had some good versions of it. I can't remember being upset about Keith and Donna's departure. Brent was a force and helped Jerry smile more.

I was at this show. It was a benefit concert to end environmental cancer. I remember that Joan Baez played. Incredible set list. Any show with High Time and The Wheel in it is gonna be a good one. This one was.
Joan Baez did not play at this one. They let the crowd in a couple of hours early and showed the movie "Fun With Dick and Jane" starring Jane Fonda, which is a very funny flick, and then suddenly there's Jane on stage announcing, "Ladies and gentleman the Grateful Dead!" This is a fantastic show and a must listen!
In Maui for the first time! Out on the balcony with one of my favorite things to do! Thanks Elaine for posting this one, haven’t heard this before! Awsome set list and sound! Good ole Grateful Dead 😎✌️🇺🇸
I dunno. They played it 54 times with Keith and Donna in two years and 44 times with Brent in three. I think they dropped it because it was Phil's tune and he got tired of it.@@eletricnaneland352
Thanks Elaine. What a song list 🎉 ! Didn’t realize initially this was Keith & Donna’s last show. Please keep these great selections coming. Be Well Michael
space varied night to night but usually it was engaging and sometimes it was peak Dead. Cumulatively, its an amazing tract of musical exploration, essential GD.
@@jimpowell6789 I'm talking about the rushed finish to the shows coming out of space. From 83-86 there were many shows where the band rushed through the songs after space with barely any outro jams or any effort to smoothly connect the songs.
With emotions running high, the show had been good, but tentative to this point. Once Terrapin gets going, the band decided to fully let loose for one last time with Keith and Donna.
@@eletricnaneland352 Been through it that'll 4 sure! Drained Staph pneumonia outta the with chest tube....am on my back Thank you for asking. Love your page. Always have! God bless you 🌹
I saw them on the East Cost tour then back to Madison Wi. The writing was on the wall. They (K&D) were fighting on stage. Might have been Utica where Kieth was nodding in the first set and she kind of slapped him. He responded by throwing something at her, flowers? and she stormed off stage. (Came back though) She missed Detroit for sure and another night I forget. The band kicked them out of the hotel in Madison for fighting and made them stay somewhere else. My 20 something brain wanted to “save” her from Kieth, but my GF wouldn’t have approved.
Oh, I forgot the best part.. after the incident in Utica, the band broke into “They Love Each Other” A perfect foil for an uncomfortable incident and some comic relief.
Last perfect LLR and passenger with Donna 🥺 always the best versions with Donna

She was at her peak in '78, but she didn't have enough time in '79 to grow any further, unfortunately.

Keith & Donna's farewell concert. This one is huge. Plenty of love right to the last. Thanks Elaine. Good call. (Agree about Donna's LLRain vocals.)
I think the band also agrees with me about passenger, it didn't take long for the song to be kicked out of the set 😝

Terrapin > Playin > drums > space jam > Wheel > Shakedown > Playin > Sugar Mag -- 79 minutes and 38 seconds of galactic Grateful Dead. Shakedown as Black Hole.
Shakedown going where Shakedown never went before or after. Epic performance!!!
This is what happens when post space is patient and the band isnt in "Lets wrap it up" mode like so many from the mid 80s

this is Keith & Donna's last show with the Dead, I got to see about 12 show's with them on stage, a little sad.
Im wondering if they knew it was theirs last show 🤔
@@eletricnaneland352 I think that they did know.
Yes they did 😊
It was the last show of the tour and Brent had already played in Bob's band so I believe the decision had already been made.

hilarious if it weren't so harsh for K & D. They were really coming unravelled, Keith permanently. The road is hard. @@deweygill1973
Kind of a sad show, really. There's a lot of emotion on the stage, you can feel it. Donna's getting choked up during "Heart of Me" and "Terrapin".
