Sacramento City, do you really wonder why your city government can't solve problems … really? There is no way the City Council did not know what they were doing violated State rules. If they did not, fire the City Attorney.
When you say, "he negotiated increases in his pay", what do the residents of Sacramento get in the return for the raise? What happens if he doesn't get a raise? Does he up and leave? Well, there's the effen' door walk through it Mr. Chen. I'm sure we can find another candidate for your job that will do as little work to help your city as you do for half the salary.
So when politicians add more taxes to you on the ballet it doesn't go towards any improvement, rather it goes to city workers bonus and salary increase. What a true shake down of the people. Smh
Note that his taxpayer funded salary has nearly DOUBLED since 2017, excluding the paid leave. The paid leave clause is really questionable, and no competent HR manager would ever allow that clause, which could result in ~ $$1 million. payout when he leaves.
Aha ha ha ha ha ha woooo this is what happens when the people of the city/county vote without understanding the ballot 😅. Whose responsible for the campaigning of a raise raise for what? Everybody homeless... Like.... Can you do a part of your job first before we mention raises or are you that checked out u thought the public would happily agree to a raise for someone WE NEVER HEARD OF OR SEEN AT WORK AND want to give him a raise sit yo greedy tail on the sidewalk so you can be great ful for the salary you currently get... That sidewalk could be all you got to claim like the Majority living here in Sacramento city/county first what u want more money to do? You couldn't be that awesome 😎.... Chill out sir
A feel good story right before tax season. When you cough up one of the highest rates in the US next year just remember that at least it’s going towards improving your state and local communities and not towards city workers blatantly bleeding the system. Happy holidays you guys.
Wouldn't it be nice for public servants to be scrutinized by the public if they deserved a raise by vote? And actually show what they did for said raise request? Then again I make too much sense and this probably fly over politicians heads.
The City Mgr is paid almost $200k!! more than the next highest paid employee (city attorney). Sounds like he spends more time negotiating this bloated benefits package than he does working. The City Council, mayor, and attorney work with Brown Act issues ALL the time... its impossible to believe they thought they could award a huge $$raise during a closed session. Smells very fishy. CBS, please tell us what this employee is doing that requires a nearly 100% salary increase since 2017!?? "It sounds like he deserves it" is a lame explanation. This is a huge taxpayer ripoff.
Yeah right. The entire state is supposedly in a massive deficit now. How does one even attempt to justify these outrageous salaries and pensions. Did you see the two individuals above this guy. They are at 1 million and 700k+ but yeah single out the Asian American guy. Always the trash liberal Democrats. Attempt to point the finger at corporate greed when they are robbing taxpayers.
if he's earning his keep and working 24/7 then maybe that's okay; otherwise if there's no one as competent and willing to take a paycut all that money is just going to go towards consultants or others who'll do the job at even greater mark-ups and inefficiencies - or no one will work for the government.
Lock him up. Criminal and gangster don't belong in public offices
Sacramento City, do you really wonder why your city government can't solve problems … really? There is no way the City Council did not know what they were doing violated State rules. If they did not, fire the City Attorney.
Why does he deserve that money? I live in Sacramento. Where is the proof that he's actually doing something good for the city ?

I walk the streets of this city every day and tell myself how the city manager is so awesome
Because thugs and Chinese criminals run your city
Who else can vote on their own salary increase? I scratch your back, you scratch mine? How is this not considered as corruption?
Dam corrupt as
So when politicians add more taxes to you on the ballet it doesn't go towards any improvement, rather it goes to city workers bonus and salary increase. What a true shake down of the people. Smh
What exactly does a city manager do? I can tell you what he doesn't do for Sacramento and that is a lot.
it looks; like there's a lot of contract negotiating going on...not much time left after that..
Why does he have this contract???
Because you have all kindergartens run your city
Wow 🤷
I want a state tax refund. This is UNFAIR?
You can tell the news people were even surprised by how much he makes
Note that his taxpayer funded salary has nearly DOUBLED since 2017, excluding the paid leave. The paid leave clause is really questionable, and no competent HR manager would ever allow that clause, which could result in ~ $$1 million. payout when he leaves.
$20k cost of living increase? Wow! Would love that.
these are worth clowns
Living in Palmdale, that city manager doesn’t DESERVE that pay!!!
So much corruption
Wow
Where's he from??
@@harmonk8012 not California
Talk about ‘white-adjacent’! This Asian man is killing it and stealing just like his predecessors. Grasshopper learned well.
He negotiated his contract, I can’t knock it. The City of Sacramento signed the contract… and now they don’t want to honor it 🤦🏽♂️

I left sac 10 years ago and recently came back. I wish I didn’t, this place is in ruins
This news lady was really awesome in her presentation.
Not surprised.... It's called GREED!
A feel good story right before tax season. When you cough up one of the highest rates in the US next year just remember that at least it’s going towards improving your state and local communities and not towards city workers blatantly bleeding the system. Happy holidays you guys.
No wonder they have a deficit
WTF? city manager come up with own contract term and tax payers never agreed to it. What the F city manager do anyway?
CEO of the city. Responsible for day to day operations of all the departments and the budget.
$175k would be plenty, probably too much.
Incredible I know my work is as important but I only got 10cents😢
Wouldn't it be nice for public servants to be scrutinized by the public if they deserved a raise by vote? And actually show what they did for said raise request? Then again I make too much sense and this probably fly over politicians heads.
Steinberg is a clown. How has Chan earned the money? Nothing is being enforced.

What does he do to make that much money? There’s a deficit in CA
Criminals
Thief!
If we don’t work there will be less money for him
Sounds a bit excessive
Unless Sacramento is the beacon utopia, how is he "worth it"?
NOT OKAY!
Crooks.
Nothingto see here ? Vote Blue Newsome #2024
One of the united nations open government partnership actors getting local government. That was the plan since they got the federal government
The Chinese don’t want us to do better just be realistic
Corruption
What’s so hard about that job?
Well he is responsible for management of 770 million dollar budget. Paying a city manager well can ensure the rest of the budget is managed properly.
Yeah right. The entire state is supposedly in a massive deficit now.

What a joke.
Must be a dem?
What a joke
It’s not the biggest city in the state but it is the biggest city in government for the state so you probably have more corruption than elsewhere.
Democrat Utopia…. Probably found some accounting irregularities… buying for his silence….

There is no I in USA 🗽
Seriously he probably deserves the pay increase and needs the support to do a great job like you or I 🇺🇸
Makes sense why the qualified workers aren't trying anymore. Democrat ran cities suck pretty bad.
. This is not a bipartisan thing. All major cities have problems and find me one that doesn't
Democrats always say that when they are failing. 😅
All have problems..but none as big as the democrat ran cities 😅 democrat leadership is on full display and it's horrible
Lets thank the Asian comity thats voter for this mf
