And also they never gave me a break time and were continuing for about an hour. I think i said to my dentists that i can feel the pain and i guess they gaved me another dose of it but i don't it mattered. During the nerves extraction i couldn't even hold back my tears.
It’s ok! The dentist gives you really strong medicine so it doesn’t hurt. They’ll tell you to raise your hand if you feel any pain during the procedure. It feels a bit vibrat-y and a bit scratchy, and tastes like sawdust but doesn’t hurt.
La dentista pone un pinchon con anestesia en la encias y listo!! No se siente absolutamente nada en todo el procedimiento y despues de pasar el efecto tampoco!!
You left out like the most important part... When they drill the root out they also drill into abscess and let it drain and then fill it with a sterilization chemical and then rinse it with an antiseptic before putting the filling in. Your diagram shows them leaving the abscess in there and putting the filling in over it. That would kind of negate the whole point of it because the patient wouldnt feel any pain relief and the infection could continue on under the tooth...
To Add : + This is called "root canal treatment." + With no blood, the teeth will blacken over time and become more brittle. + Dead tooth, may also fall off easily
@faizanahmedsiddiqui6478 well, the filling doesn't need blood to feed it, so it's better than having an infected tooth (which probably would cause you lots of pain anyway)

I got two bottom molars pulled and a root canal done on my top left molar and when I tell you the Anastasia works good I mean it you will not feel a thing
PSA: Autoimmune patients do NOT have successful root canals! The body rejects them, and once the tooth has been filled, it's 100x harder to extract when you inevitably have to get them extracted. I learned the hard way, having a tooth pulled after a THIRD failed root canal procedure. They took half the gum out with my tooth, and I had dry socket for nearly 6 weeks. I didn't know until I went to an actual specialist that this would always happen to me. If you're immunocompromised, save yourself a ton of money and excruciating pain by just having the tooth extracted and getting an implant to replace it.
@rammllompart4271 Much appreciated! I wouldn't wish dry socket or tooth/jaw infection pain on anyone; it really is the absolute worst pain I've ever been in. Hopefully, this comment reaches people who can benefit from it!

@@kittyem9921I had one last year and I felt nothing. My tooth cleaning was more uncomfortable than root canal. No more pain in that tooth. Definitely worth it, always try to save a natural tooth at all costs
It's not that bad Mine is at a point where the dentist said either remove the whole thing or just deal with it Cuz he can't do anything And I usually grt pain but it ain't that bad
Dentist here. I'll clarify why some people say root canals hurt while others say it's practically pain free. More often then not it has to do with the state of the nerve in the tooth before having the procedure done. When exposed to bacteria, the nerve and blood supply will swell (just like anywhere else in the body). The swelling occurs in a tight enclosed hard structure (the tooth and the bone). The tissue wants to expand, but it can't so it builds a lot of pressure. When you get numbed up, typically you're numbing certain types of nerve fibers. One of the last types of nerve fibers that can get numb are pressure sensing nerves. So, if the tooth has been experiencing a lot of pressure it is hard to get numb, and it hurts to do a root canal on it, even with a lot of anesthetic. In addition, if there is an infection present, the infected tissue becomes pretty acidic. The local anesthetic has epinephrine in it, which is also acidic. The similar properties tend to repell each other. Some ways to help reduce the pain would be to take an antibiotic beforehand to calm down the infection and reduce the inflammation. You can also split the root canal treatment into multiple appointments where the first appointment would be to directly access the center of the tooth and apply some medicine directly onto the pulp to allow it to become alleviated. Then you'd seal up the tooth with a temporary filling, and set another appointment to finish the root canal treatment after the tooth has calmed down. If the nerve has become necrotic, and is already dead, it no longer transmits any impulses. This is when a root canal can be nearly pain free. Sometimes a root canal is performed before the nerve gets too irritated, and it can be relatively easier to get numbed as well.
I remember I had a messed up root when the lockdowns first hit so I was unable to quickly get treatment. The sheer and unbridled agony my tooth caused me has to be some of the most intense pain I have ever felt. Thankfully, though, my operation was completely pain-free. But I'd of taken a painful operation over my tooth flaring up again in the future.
Same here. Now three years later I find out that the dentist didn't fully fill them. They got infected and my face ballooned 3 times in size with agonizing pain in just one day.(scary how fast it happened). Now I have to pay upfront for a specialist to redo the work. 1700 one tooth and 2500 for the other.
I got my root canal done but I was immune to the numbing compound they were using, it hurt pretty bad but I didn’t say anything, I later had the same tooth pulled after the temporary crown broke, I still have issues in that spot in my mouth
Doc by your explanation I now can understand. For me anesthesia was not working properly. And doc had to do it in parts. Well mine was pretty bad. my entire crown needed to be removed. It was that bad.
@@SuperScarab the anesthetic didn’t work on me, I was given huge amounts and they just didn’t cut it for some reason as the nerve was inflamed or something
This may look painful, but if you've ever had a tooth infection or never damage, you will know that that is some of the most excruciating pain you can have. Once you're sedated, it is such a relief, you usually don't even feel all the drilling and poking

If you had it you would visit the dentist trust me. But delaying going to the dentist when you already have pain even if it isn't that bad - it probably will get worse until you maybe have canal root. So better go there always no matter how bad the pain is. If there is an issue always make an appointment.
I've had probably 4-5 root canals (terrible genes mixed with never brushing my teeth as a kid) and as terrifying as this looks, it really isn't that bad. The most uncomfortable part to me is the shot they give you in the gums to numb everything, but after that you're good for the whole rest of the procedure. In fact the numbing stuff causes drowsiness and I've nearly fallen asleep several times during it. Don't be afraid to let them know if the numbing meds aren't working, or if they need to wait longer for it to take effect. They'll wait longer or give you more if you need it.
@callmesg6754 Yes, a root canal treated tooth will eventually discolour. But typically it should have a crown on it too, which means you won't see the discolouration.
Same, but it's almost a year ago for me The infection was so bad that, dentist didn't even need to drill, he straight up used needles 💀 (never forget the pain)
Not if your dentist gives you proper anaesthesia. Proper (local) anaesthesia will prevent you having pain, even after the treatment. If you have an infection and don't go to the dentist until your face is 3x the size and get dizzy from the pain, local anaesthesia doesn't always work. Go to the dentist when you feel something is wrong, don't wait until it gets worse. When treated early, infection can be treated without pain, even root canal treatment will be painless then.
I've had two root canals and I can tell you, under proper Anesthesia, is no worse then a finger touching your gums. It's a weird tingling sensation more than pain. Also, don't be dumb and say you don't need Anesthesia, and if you need more, tell them.
I’ve been told to get root canals everytime i’ve had my tooth drilled and patched up, yet the root has healed everytime on its own. I wouldn’t recommend not getting it done but if its not too badly infected your pretty much good to go. Been more than 3 years now since two of my molars had their root exposed due to caries and the infection never did spread even though the doctor yapped about getting a root canal.
Dont worry, they numb you before they do it. It’s such a relief to get a root canal so you dont have pain anymore. Plus,if you don’t do this, (as the dentist themselves said) the infection in your tooth can go to your brain or somewhere else and you certainly don’t want that.
Oh boy. The two root canals I had done by some sort of scammy densistry in cali hurt like a mf. I don’t even know if it tops the pain of a kidney stone I had once. That cold, SHARP, loud, searing pain I felt as they drilled was insane and hearing that loud drill just makes me feel some kind of ghost sensation related to it. The first time I asked to be numbed better and it barely helped, the second time the dentist didn’t even bother and gave me a “it’ll be over soon.”

i had it once when i was younger about probably 11 and when i tell you the pain of that shit was absolutely mind numbing. The dentist said it was better just to remove the adult tooth, thankfully my wisdom tooth took its place
Pro Tip: the day of your root canal, take 3 ibuprofen 30 minutes to an hour before procedure. The 3 pills packs the same dosage as prescribed medicated ibuprofen for tooth pain. I didn't feel a thing during numbing medication they give or after the procedure (the prescribed medication is just regular ibuprofen)
The procedure barely hurts, just ask to take multiple breaks to close your mouth once they're done with what they're currently doing so then you don't get lockjaw.
I've done this. Yes, it was painful, but only because the anesthesia didn't work on me that day. One issue tho is that the filling got ripped out a few times so i had to remove the entire tooth piece by piece along with the infected area 😅

🔥
They only do this if there is an abscess, if there is no infection but perhaps just pain, then there is no abscess to drain

@@Articbismo is there an absolute amount of anesthesia that can numb the pain after being dumped? I fucking miss him.

Hell na... I hate them so much
EXACTLY
It actually made my teeth hurt
That's actually satisfying
It is not pain free. They did that with me and...

You don't feel a thing. I've had this procedure done.

Most of the upper teeth and front teeth in the lower jaw get quickly numb because of the bone nature in this area ( which is spongy and have many holes letting the anesthesia solution arrives quickly the thooh) , meanwhile the molars in the lower jaw are surrounded with dense bone ( with littel holes ) making the anesthesia difficult and request sometime many additinal technics in anesthesia . This general rules but sometimes there are upper these would not get quickly numb after injection
@@seaman83i’m getting a root canal on my upper canine, i’m scared i’ll feel everything because anastesia doesn’t work for me at all😢
@@cinammon.grIyie wish you all the best . usually canines get numb without problems after singel injection. after the injection we should wait some minutes and then we start ( the root lenght of the upper canine is relativ bigger than other teeth ).
1. They will make sure you’re numb
2. The filling is called guta purcha
3. You need a crown after endodontics
4. Endodontics is in 2 parts most of the time. Pulpectomy (deconstruct) and pulpotomy (build)
5. These *drills* (burs) are not anything like ones actually used. If you’re curious it is often RA but (1/4, 1/2, 2, 4, 6, 8), Endo Z Bur and endo burs/files.
ENDO? like in FNAF????? WHAT???
$$$, future problems, and lots of pain
Bro I hated every second I wasnt numb it hurted idk if she even got all the nerves out
The numbness straight up doesn't work. I started cold sweating, i was screaming through my skin because i could scream with my mouth.
@@goddamnarshia yeah I know. I only screamed and cried when they put like a red thing to my teeth it looked like an nerve idk what it was
A dentist is liteally a surgeon who operates on awake patients
I've had one before, the infection was big enough to make my jaw visibly swell and it was constant and agonising. The pressure on the nerves felt like lightning up the side of my face for over a week (and i had painkillers) I couldn't sleep and the insomnia medication I took only gave me about 3 hours. The treatment isn't bad at all and was such a relief
Somehow infinitely more comforting than the description my dentist gave before my crown.
Bro what did he tell you
True, and if the tooth has no blood supply, it will start to smell and decay after around 10-15 years.
Really why?
You dont need to wait that many years for horror, there is bacteria infestation in dead tooth all the time. Dead tooth should be removed asap.
i had a good dentist then he died. i had a bad dentist and he died!! saw two more dentists that said my gawd who did this work!!! im done with em
@@AlanMydland-fq2vsThen they died too 😂😂😂😂😂
@@filippetrovic845 he isn't talking about a dead tooth he is just talking about a fixed tooth
Thats why it hurts☠️
Imagine they actually did it that fast😂
Lol imagine
it only takes an hour.

I've had a root canal a few years ago, and I can assure you that the worst part is just how boring it is sitting in a chair for around 30 minutes. Not painful at all, of course
Please be honest because I am about to have one in tomorrow 😢
@@quantumgaming9180100% painless. I had one a few years ago. If you happen to feel any pain afterwards (which probably won't happen), you can just take some Advil or something similar
@@quantumgaming9180how did it go?
@@axvyrall2793 not yet, I have it in 50 minutes. Reply to me in 2 hours so I can respond in case I forget xD
@@axvyrall2793 It didnt hurt in the least surprinsingly. The doctor said the nerve was already dead anyway and there was a bone infection beneath it in my case but it will regenerate in time do no worries. Also, the doctor and the nurse were talking about camping during their vacation so I was a relaxed atmosphere 😁
Now that's how you do a video. No robot voice
No annoying extraneous crap. Just right to the
meat of the story. Thank you

I think the dentist just wanted the forbidden twizzlers
Noooooo 💀
😬😬😬🤨🤨🤨🤨😒🧐
As a person that had this procedure I can confirm that it felt funny
Agreed. And the absolute pain I felt before from the infection was MUCH worse than anything in the dentist office.
@@Manzana1C EXACTLY
Same!! I have a resistance to lidocaine though, so I felt it when he started drilling and I yelled like a baby, Novocain fixed that right up lol
It tickles!
yup, but it was the worst pain in my life because my tooth had pus in it so my mouth didnt go numb so i felt everything.....
Thank u for explaining this, I have a double root canal in March and I couldn’t find any good videos explaining it😅
It's painful af bro. (Had one in 2021)

I had this happen and this procedure hurts as much as you think it would💀
Finally. I have watched a dozen videos claiming to explain what a root canal procedure is in layman's terms, and none of them made any sense until this one. And it did it in less than whole minute.
Mine was done completely different than the way this one was shown. I think there is more than one way.
Istg rct was the worst pain I could've given to myself, literally the after pain was so much that it travelled to my ear aswell and I literally questioned my existence At that moment, it got me dying...
