good choice the Speedmaster a lush watch. i sold mine 10 years ago, wish i hadnt. I have a GMT batgirl and a black face Daytona. But the speedmaster do some lovely variations of it, if i didnt have the Daytona id deffo get a speedy again.
Owing both - I prefer the GMT as the functionality is remarkable. I bought the Daytona as it’s an ICON but regarding functionality...? Useless (difficult to read as well)
The 126710 is my favourite modern Rolex. The gmt complication is is my favourite and most useful to me so easy choice. Of yeah, and the Pepsi is just plain more fun to look at IMO.
Spectacular program Tim - thank you. The GMT for me. Love the pop of historical colors, the early commercial aviation etiology, highly visible large contrasting indices and date - just floating for you to see , masculine super case design - plus - In practicality i can barely see a chrono index . Lol.
i have a vintage sub, a GMt batgirl and a Black dial 2020 Daytona. I was never keen on the white. its the most comfortable watch in dimensions to wear and when light hits it, it literally sparkles, i do love it. I do have a pepsi on order with my AD but on oyster ..prefer that on a pepsi as per its 50s heritage.
The integration of the jubilee into the lugs looks aesthetically unpleasant compared how the oyster bracelets blend in so for that reason the Daytona would have my cash. Nice analysis by Tim.
The diameter of the Daytona is smaller by 1.5mm, right? So it's smaller than the wrist from the standpoint of when you wear it? It doesn't look like a large Chrono?
It feels like today you’ve got the colour much better in the vids. Unless my eyes are going. Either way thank you. It seems to showcase the watch much better! If you check the Tudor Tiger vid from a few days ago the tone of your arm was way different than today. It’ makes these vids much better!!!
Could you do a verses with Rolex's main mens' Platinum models the Day-Date 40 and Cosmograph Daytona 116506 which gives you more precious metal and the better complication and bracelet. Daytona has Easylink etc. Thanks Tim
excellent review... nice summations...thanks! I love the GMT II bezel colors.... in person the watch is gorgeous and Im not a fan of the newer larger bulky cases..... this is the first watch of the newer models Im attracted to.... and again its the colors on the bezel for me. As well as the jubilee bracelet.... I was never a jubilee guy...but now I sure as heck am.
This is true tho. Make no mistake. I’ve seen 2 side by side what they called the early 2018 mk1 and the other late 2018 to early 2019 like you said the mk2.
Tim, these are both iconic pieces, but they are both selling at the outer limits of reality over the retail price. There are so many derivations of both models that can be purchased at half the price in the case of the GMT II and ~$7000 less for the Daytona. However if a collector has to have the latest models then you have to bite the bullet.
I actually always thought the jubille will look better than the oyster .. but now I see how wrong was .. the hulk and the batman/Pepsi should be on the oyster ... the Daytona is way above these watches ... not when it comes to readability.. but in terms of the design.. the flexibility of being put on leather... the best chronograph on the market ( small thin good features and good power reserve ) .... Daytona all day long
Top notch review & comparison as always, Tim. I know you are more of a chronograph than a GMT guy. I am the other way around. I'm a fan of the GMT line! Having said that, I think I'm having a Pepsi hype overload. I would pick the Daytona on this duel. Out of the two SS ceramic Daytonas, I actually prefer this black on black. Not that it matters as I won't pay 2x the retail. I recently went on a Japan trip and resellers in Osaka have a number of these hard to get SS Rolexes (Daytona, Pepsi, Batman, Hulk). All selling either close to and sometimes for over twice the SRP!
Bryan Tate, I don’t it would work but I have never tried. Although they have same lug width the position of the log hole relative to the end link sleeve containing the spring bar does not line up. I say that because I have put on the oyster bracelet of 116710 on the ceramic Daytona and it fits perfectly. However, the jubilee on the 126710 will not fit on the previous gmt2. So I have to deduct that the jubilee of the gmt2 does not fit the Daytona. The jubilee that would fit this Daytona is the one that you find on the Rolex 36 mm datejust 116200.
Ha! Planning to trade in my pepsi gmt in jubilee for a two tone daytona! Been a gmt fan through and through. Fortunate to have 3 models - black steel, two tone & now the new gmt pepsi but im switching to a daytona
To me it comes down to the fact that there are probably a hundred beautiful chronographs out there. However the Pepsi is a bit distinct. If I really want an expensive chrono - I could get a royal oak chronograph! But I really do not think there is anything that compare to the Pepsi - and not at that price point.
Nice review, as always. I like my Pepsi jubilee better (it's my #2 for wrist time in my collection). I bought the black dial Daytona since my AD offered it to me last year but now I'm waiting for the call on the white dial. That one may take the #2 spot over the Pepsi.
@@Mick.Taylor Well, I did end up getting the white dial soon after I posted that comment. Then, a few months after that, I got the call on the blue Sky-Dweller...which I like better than either of my Daytonas. Now I have finally collected pretty much all of the grails. But my #1 I'm terms of wrist time is my Sea-Dweller 43mm 50th Anniversary (with the Mk1 dial). It's perfection.
Awesome review Tim! I would have hard time choosing but if I truly had to pick one of the two in your review? I would pick the Daytona (black dial). Fortunately, I have a super relationship with my AD and over the past few years my AD has allocated to me at MSRP the Daytona 116500LN in both white and black dial combinations and most recently the BLRO! Very fortunate, without a doubt. If i had to pick from the three? Daytona (white dial) all the way!!!!!
am i the only one who doesnt get the usability of a gmt..specially over a chronograph..give me a timing bezel or a chrono anytime. even when im travelling i dont care aboyt time in different time zone but even if i did a worldtimer seems more obvious as with a gmt you still have to remember the time difference to set it..that being said i have plans for a gmt master 2
These are both unbelievable but for my money I'd get the new (mostly) steel datejust 36 in black... wondering if the new steel datejusts will join the sports watches in soldoutfulness...
When I was younger and trying to impress during my sales career I was very loquacious on features. Potential customers want to here benefits tied in with the features. The watch sells itself to empirical customers. Cupidity is also a factor with an impetuous need to purchase such a watch of their liking.
Skydweller is the Rolex GMT I'd go for, and between these two the Daytona would be my choice. However, I do believe that much money would go best elsewhere
The Jubilee bracelet is so ugly. Wish they gave people the option to buy with the Oyster bracelet or Jubilee for those who like it. And I’m talking about SS not the white gold. Also, give me the white dial Daytona any day of the week.
GMT looks like a kid’s watch with all of the silly colors tbh. Never understood it. I showed it to my wife and she said it simply looks silly on a grown man.
You talk too fast; you become tiring. It is useless comparing different models; the entire professional range has no weak members. The Daytona is too small. Daytona ought to have longer luminosity on the hands. The GMT is easier to read and more practical.
Daytona is on another level. But for the price of it, I'd get a GMT-II and a nice speedy, and save the rest for vacation.
This is what I did
good choice the Speedmaster a lush watch. i sold mine 10 years ago, wish i hadnt. I have a GMT batgirl and a black face Daytona. But the speedmaster do some lovely variations of it, if i didnt have the Daytona id deffo get a speedy again.

Are you getting the panda too
GMT is just about as useless, just cool looking. You can have 4 different time zones on the Lock Screen of any phone.
The 126710 is my favourite modern Rolex. The gmt complication is is my favourite and most useful to me so easy choice. Of yeah, and the Pepsi is just plain more fun to look at IMO.

Nice comparison Tim! I go with the Daytona white dial!
Tough choice, but I'd go Daytona...especially with the black dial.
lol how is this a tough choice ? daytona all the way .. anyday anywhere
Thanks for this. So which one wears larger on the wrist? I have a 7.25 inch wrist.
I’d never buy either, but if I had to my money would go to the Daytona. And I agree with Tim in going for the black on black.
i have a vintage sub, a GMt batgirl and a Black dial 2020 Daytona. Well,i use the gmt function more than a chrono, not to mention the date function. So my pick would be the Pepsi.Daytona is also very beautiful...
The integration of the jubilee into the lugs looks aesthetically unpleasant compared how the oyster bracelets blend in so for that reason the Daytona would have my cash. Nice analysis by Tim.
Nice comparison Tim, I have the 116500LN and absolutely love it.
The diameter of the Daytona is smaller by 1.5mm, right? So it's smaller than the wrist from the standpoint of when you wear it? It doesn't look like a large Chrono?

The Daytona and the sky dweller are on a different level then any of the other models .
I prefer to be able to read my watch... Make mine a GMT, or Sub for that matter. Good video 👊
Hey - any word on the Pepsi ceramic colors getting darker on late 2018/early 2019 batches?
This is true tho. Make no mistake. I’ve seen 2 side by side what they called the early 2018 mk1 and the other late 2018 to early 2019 like you said the mk2.
Just got that daytona that’s what brought me here today that GMT 2 is next thanks for the video
Great vid Tim! Having never seen a Daytona in the metal why the choice for black over panda? Was the panda not as well executed?
GMT pepsi for me, just got one
How comfortable is the clasp on the 116500?
No problem for me

Great comparison Tim. I’m about to purchase another sports watch and now you just gave me more to think about.
What did you go with?
@@JohnConnor636I bought two. a Santos de Cartier and a Breitling Chronomat 42

Your best video comparison yet?! I’d say so. Thx!
I'm having a hard time deciding between there two.
Both
Got the black dial last week now waiting for the panda in the nyc ad
Dayton in black.
Your best review ever!
Thanks!
Pepsi for me, obviously
Tough choice, both I really like, but I choose GMT♥️💙🖤
Mind telling us what it is that made you go with the GMT in this tight battle?

Both stunning
Daytona wins this one ;)
The Pepsi is the general
But the Daytona is the chief of staff
Rolex GMT Master for me and for the chrono: I'll have Breitling 92...

ture. Annoying gmt hand as well
Pepsi for me. The Daytonas single polished center links are scratch magnets . Jubilee hides scratches well and will look better over time
No one who can really afford a Rolex cares about scratches.
@@EscapePlan97 well, that’s also right …only resellers care
@@EscapePlan97 as much as I want to agree with you, there are a ton of owners out there who do.
Oyster bracelet is my preference.
Daytona. No contest!
I don't know how I feel about the GMT's on a Jubilee bracelet. :/
I don't like it. Jubilee is a datejust bracelet.
These are both unbelievable but for my money I'd get the new (mostly) steel datejust 36 in black... wondering if the new steel datejusts will join the sports watches in soldoutfulness...
Great video! Two lovely watches
I love my panda

GMT for all life
Pepsiiiiiiiiiii
My god man, take a breath!! lol
I have both and I have to say, the Daytona (Panda dial) is so much more eye-catching from afar and also much more comfortable to wear.
I love my black daytona
Nice! Mind telling us a bit more what you love about your Daytona?

Its very sleek, looks so elegant and feels so good in the wrist. I paid premium for it. 21k $ to be exact but i dont mind. Worth it!
Skydweller is the Rolex GMT I'd go for, and between these two the Daytona would be my choice. However, I do believe that much money would go best elsewhere
GMT - Easy
The GMT is of course way more functional then a Daytona. I would go for the GMT
You can't time pasta with a gmt
John Barry I’m not working in a restaurant ;) but thanks for the info
Daytona both in black and white dial...then Blue sky dweller
The Jubilee bracelet is so ugly. Wish they gave people the option to buy with the Oyster bracelet or Jubilee for those who like it. And I’m talking about SS not the white gold. Also, give me the white dial Daytona any day of the week.
I'll take the Pepsi and save $4K, go on a nice international trip.
BOOOOTH!!!!!!
Love both, but the WHITE dial Daytona beats both by a smidge...
Tim.....why are u rushing?
U make me feel very anxious unnecessary.....
Slow down abit.....enjoy the watch....
Enjoy the master piece...
GMT looks like a kid’s watch with all of the silly colors tbh. Never understood it. I showed it to my wife and she said it simply looks silly on a grown man.
My mom said the same to my dad lol
Daytona all the way
Mmmm 40 mm, on to the next. 👍 Who made coffee?
The dark prince of chronographs
