- The Houston Ship Channel is celebrating its centennial as a deep water port in 2014, and a new documentary explores the rich history, as well as present-day operations of the Houston Ship Channel and the Port of Houston, one of the busiest ports in the United States.
This is what we should be taught in Texas history class. Stuff like this makes one really proud to be Texan 🤠
I disagree. Americans are woefully unknowledgeable about history around the world, best to learn that.
I live here in Houston and had no idea that all of this existed..seen bits of it but never really looked and studied it ...very impressive!

A great history and documentary of the Port of Houston, (and to a lessor extent, Galveston/Baytown). The Sam Houston Boat Tour is quite fun for those who are interested, its free but busy, sigh up ahead of time. This video should be updated in a few years, Port of Houston will keep growing!!!!!!!

I remember our school took a field trip to the port as kids, one of the more memorable trips for sure. It's nice to see the progress it's taken up now.
At its core, this is a PR piece for the port. It is chock full of interesting historical details. The videography is exquisite. "Beneficial Marshes"?
I would say at its core, it's history, bookended by PR.
So funny how the Allen brothers "embelleshed" the beauty of Houston.

The hurricane had nothing to do with it. Houston was already on the cusp of surpassing Galveston.

I lasted until 5:04. Cannot handle the biggest, widest, narrowest, tallest, fastest, slowest, busiest ......... The American way, if you cannot be the first or the best, qualify; add west of the Mississippi or something.
I guess for some people it's difficult to keep an open mind. Those of us who do so will enjoy the video.
