- I love this thing. This is the Samsung gxTV model gxe1395. Manufactured in 1996. It’s a little 13” CRT that was made and marketed for bedroom gaming. It has two nice sized speakers and a subwoofer that will kick your ass! They are LOUD and they sound great! Simulated surround is usually BS, but you sit so close to this thing that it actually does a great job. Clean picture. Nice colors. What’s not to like! I hooked up a Sega Genesis Model 2 over RF (yuck) just to try it out, along with a Sega Dreamcast and a JVC VHS VCR.
What a great tv. I had one for a few uears in my 20s, in a house with 4 other roomates. Ever since I got the GXTV, i had no privacy. Wake up...dudes in my room with atching movies. Get home from work...dudes in my room playing games.
It was a great t.v. solid little unit, with so many options.
Love quirky TVs like this, a real product of its time!
Sadly (for me) I think these were US market only as I'd love to have one of these for my 16bit stuff!

Man, I loved this TV! I remember getting one for Christmas in 1996 and spending that entire morning playing Shadows of the Empire.
I remember seeing these in gamepro magazine and my local EB had one on display. This was one of the first Samsung products I had seen and was my first experience with the brand. Samsung was a value brand at this time, prior to proliferation in the HDTV era.
Crazy that both LG (known as Gold Star at the time, they made a 3do model) and Samsung were in gaming in the mid to late 90's.
I remember when my parents bought this for me before we moved. We kept it in the move so I used it for a handful of years after. After my sister was born, and I eventually was given a bigger TV, my parents gave my sister this TV. They still have it after all these years. This TV has lasted since I was anywhere from 5-7, until now, 33. It wouldn't be of much use in these times except for that specific nostalgic itch when playing some old school consoles. Or shit, maybe throw this on with the cable and fall asleep to some infomercials and wake up to some scrambly skinamax lmao. Man, this TV would definitely be an icon to my youth.
I remember when these came out. I wanted one sooooo bad. Never got it. But yeah, it was on the christmas list more than once. This is back when Samsung wasn't the juggernaut they are today. I remember Samsung as a "drug store"brand in the late 80s early 90s. Crazy.
Yeah. Samsung and LG (known as Goldstar back then) were low/mid tier brands back then. Kinda like Vizio and TCL are now. I remember when RCA and Zenith were considered quality! 😂
@@RobNava JVC was always my go-to back then. Usually always floating around Sony quality, for a better price. Fisher was a good one too, as well as Aiwa. Good times lol. Gold star, you're right. Id forgotten about that.
Both Samsung and LG (Gold Star) were both perceived as value brands in the 90's. A decade later both brands shed that image completely. Kinda similar to the early Toyota, Honda and Nissan brands when they first came to the US market.
Man I've never even seen this TV an I been a gamer more thn 35 years, it looks amazing an sounds crisp an bassy badass!!!!! Super retro find SUBBED JUST FOR THE COOL dead TECH

Just hook up the PlayStation 1, turn it up and listen to the PS1 boot up music. Sounds amazing.

Just an FYI, while most RF adapters do use channels 3 or 4, the one for the Atari 2600 used either 2 or 3.
I think I was thinking of Channel 1. It’s been a while but I don’t think US TVs can tune into Channel 1 and the Japanese had that option? I can’t remember.
My local video store had game rental stations with these that you could rent by the hour. I remember playing Turok 64 on this and not being able to see a damn thing.
Yup same here, the place that had these with PS1s and N64s was always packed with kids, I don't remember the TVs looking particularly good but the sound was awesome.
