5 CHEAP SUVs EVERYONE IGNORES (But These Are Absolute Goldmines)
Embed
- Published on Mar 13, 2026
- There are a handful of SUVs on used car lots right now that are absolute gems-sitting there completely ignored.
They'll run 300,000 miles, cost thousands less than a RAV4 or CR-V, and nobody wants them for one stupid reason: people don't know how good they are.
Today, I'm breaking down five cheap SUVs everyone overlooks-three are absolute goldmines, plus one luxury bonus pick for anyone who wants reliability wrapped in premium leather.
And yes-every single one is all-wheel drive, ready to handle snow, slush, and everyday driving.

I always get excited when I see a title like this only to find out that NOBODY is ignoring any of these around me.
The only one I think he got right was the Venza…they were ignored new and are likely still ignored used
The rest are just kind of a joke…I also love how the video started off by talking about the full size Outlander while showing images of the outlander sport…instant credibility with this one!
I remember having a few bucks and needed a daily driver. I wanted a hatchback because parking in the city is annoying sometimes. A car lot by my bus stop had some SUVs, but no hatchbacks. The owner kept telling me to consider this 06 Lexus RX, but I poo-poo’ed it ‘cause it was an ‘06 in ‘22. I got on the bus, read a few reviews, watched RUclips, and immediately got off the next stop. I walked back over and bought the RX. He said I was lucky because 3 people called about it in the 20 minutes it took me to get back to the lot and one person was on his way to take a look.
@scotteger6271 I think the reason Venza gets ignored is because of the price. It's great car but it's a bit pricier than the RAV4 and sometimes than the highlander
lol yea here’s a list of the most popular SUVs that will be going for a premium used in your area
@scotteger6271….I’ve been a Mazda fan for many years, I’d choose the 3 or the 5 Mazdas out of these five without hesitation. Bang for the buck, well engineered, and more fun to drive than most. The Venza ( basically a Lexus) is a winner, but has been replaced by the Crown, but I'm not a Toyota fan.
1 - Mazda CX5 ('13-'22)
2 - Toyota Venza ('09-'15)
3 - Mazda CX3 ('16-'22)
4 - Honda -Pilot- _Passport_ ('19-'21)
5 - Mitsubishi Outlander ('13-'21)
Thank You!
I have 2018 Mazda cx-5 never had any problems
2013 Subaru Forester here, over 110k miles and still happy with her. No touchscreen, no CVT, excellent AWD, I'm surprised it didn't make this list.
Don't forget the pontiac vibe...I have a 2005 and well over 300k ...still going strong
@cindyzollner3922Toyota engineered engine! That's why.
Video is wrong about CX-5 having both port and direct injection. All CX-5 have only direct injection.
I bought my dad a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander in 2017, and til this day, all he’s done to it is oil changes and brakes, with 1 O2 sensor!
I saw a Mazda CX3 flip and do 3 turns landing back on its wheels. The front and back of the vehicle were entirely crushed. The passenger area was mint for the exceptions of the glass breaking all around. Both passengers, shook up but not a scratch. Safety of this vehicle is definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was hit on the driver's side of my CX-5 so hard the car flipped a complete 360 and landed back on the tires. I didn't have a scratch on me. I immediately bought another CX-5 because I felt so safe driving it.
My 2008 Lexus RX 350 still looks showroom new. 135,000 miles on it and the only engine work done was to replace the serpentine belt. I bought a kit to clean the front headlights and now they look like new. My baby blue Lexus still turns heads and I’m gonna keep driving her.
My 2010 is still a champ too. Excellent vehicles, aren't they?
What light kit did you buy? We have the light blue 2008, also. 235,000 miles and strong!
@janiecannon9302meguiars kit. It’s about 25 bucks. Follow the directions in your headlights. Will look brand new.
@janiecannon9302I want to know too.
soooo jealous
I'm still driving my 2007 Pontiac Vibe.
Driving my 2008 Vibe, just getting ready to turn 500,000 km
Awesome. I know not made anymore but also I don't see for sale either.
2003 FOR ME! Under 75K miles. Put in a new front sub frame last year.
Min's got 287K
@erskerbobbles You win! 🏆
Recently sold my 2014 Mazda CX-5. Never a significant repair and 223,000 miles. Only sold it because I figured it was bound to break eventually and I couldn’t wrap my head around it going to 250k or 300k miles before needing a costly repair for more than it’s worth but I might have been wrong about that. Great car.
250K with a Corolla.
Dumb decision
@11riehldeal I sold the corolla because it was showing terminal signs. Transmission synchronizers out, unexplainable loss of MPG. Even the best of cars have a finite life.
@Shalmaneser1 wasn't saying thot to you
One or two repairs is way cheaper than a new $40,000 to $60,000 car. I’ve driven same Honda for 15 yrs, still looks new, 170,000 miles. Only had a couple of repairs and some maintenance. New cars are not the same. I hope I can get 300,000 miles.
The problem with Mitsubishi is finding a dealership when you need parts or warranty work AND I heard they're cutting back on even more locations. It's largely why I've avoided them and stick to other Japanese cars.
That is my mechanic problem
My favorite car was a 92 Mitsubishi Mitsubishi Mitsubishi Diamante. What a glorious beast
Knoxville. ONE Mazda dealership in 100 miles.
Yes, they just closed the one in Louisville. But the did it to themselves. The only car they sold in the past few years was a dog. And not everyone wants an SUV. So, getting good parts, or service if you need a dealer is impossible now.
People in the comment section are talking about 2021 ....2019 models.
I'm still living in 2009 shopping 2001 cars.
.....I may have strayed into the wrong RUclips channel for me. Have a super week everyone!
I'm driving a 2008 Escape (201K miles) and 2000 Expedition (268K). I gave my 2003 Saturn Ion (manual) with 385K miles to my son, who parked it to just drive to car meets and bought himself a 1998 GMC Sierra K1500 (135K miles) as a daily. We are both very happy.
Yep, I've never owned a car less than 13 years old! And I'm 63. lol
@Ari-jj9op I'm 61
Same. I’m always like ‘oh, 2007, that’s not too old!’
Yep technology and R&D does not outpace inflation in terms of value for money. The quality parts that went into affordable cars decades ago are what goes into premium priced new cars today. All your budget friendly cars today are designed for planned obsolescence (cheap inferior parts). This is why the psychopaths in WEF want to make ICE cars illegal to own. You vill own nussing and ve happy! 🤪
2016 CX-5 with no problems.
Just change the oil 4000 miles.
@Patrick-yh5yd
My CX5 still looks like the day we got it over 90 thousand miles ago. Plus runs just good too. Just needed ball joints because of the ruff road around here. Other than that, just regular maintenance. An excellent car. We hope our CX90 performs just as good. Our Ridgeline is excellent too 😊
The Mazda CX-5 is very underrated. The problem is Mazda doesn't have a good marketing team in the United States. I've got a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring which still looks and drives brand new. If only people would do more research than sticking with a few options.
CX5 is should be considered as a subcompact SUV, as its secondrow is tight
Had a Mazda CX-5 and the transmission went out at 95k miles. That would not have happened with a Toyota. I have a 4Runner now. I know it’s bulletproof.
I've owned 2 Mazda's that I purchased new. The first year 1979 RX-7 and a 1992 Protege. Those were the 2 best cars I've ever owned.
what year is your CX-5?
I love Mazda but I likely won't be picking up another as my next vehicle. The CX5 is great, I'm sure, but it is too small. The CX9 or CX90 don't have great 3rd rows. The CX70 is the right size but the price is too close to the CX90 so why not get a 3rd row? All that said, I have had a 2015 Mazda3 for the last 10 years and just love it. But Mazda just doesn't have what I am looking for going forward, unfortunately.
that used Honda passport will still cost u close to 40K
Say whaaaat?
What are you talking about, you can get them everyday in good condition and decent miles for well under 15 or 20.
Maybe you're thinking of a brand new completely loaded passport.
@Jack_Stafford1 no but I was thinking 2024 or 2025 used
@Jack_Stafford1 here's one listed Used 2025 Honda Passport Black Edition
$39,990
$800 below
$40,790 CARFAX Value
I purchased a 2022 Passport Trailsport late last year for $34K. Only had 19K miles on it. It’s like a new car. New 2026 models are running $50K. I think it was a good value.
Still rolling in my 2011 2.7 venza with 206,000 miles currently.
I miss my Venza. I loved that car but I had to retire her. She was falling apart by the time I let her go.
Mazda s are fantastic. And if you don't want a touch screen Mazda is the one company that hasn't replaced their analog control system with an 80.00 touchscreen.
I should have bought a Mazda, I hate my Honda and it's cheap touchscreen.
Unfortunately the imminent new CX-5 goes fully touchscreen 🤦🏻
my 2025 CX-30 goes touchscreen when Apple Car Play is active, but I find myself using the analog controls to navigate it anyway because it's just so conveniently placed right by my hand on the center arm rest.
@shazmodeus2795I have a 2025 cx30 and I love it. My only complaint is the windows are too high for my short frame…otherwise it is fun to drive.
Have cx30. Love that the tuner is on my right, not touchscreen. Love my car!
We visited a Mitsubishi dealership several years ago and told the salesman we were considering buying a Mitsubishi but had always been Honda owners. He advised us to stay with Honda.
2016.5 cx5. No problems at all. Just rear brakes
Same here. I LOVED mine. But my dad passed away so I ended up with his truck. When his truck dies my next vehicle is guaranteed to be another CX-5. There wasn’t a single thing that bugged me with it.
Bought a 2025 Mazda CX5 select trim, made in Japan, no stop start or cylinder activation. I've had 40 cars in my life this is in the top 3 for sure.
2007 Lexus RX350 paid $3,200. Currently has 313,500k miles. I've just recently had to put an ignition coil and alternator and it needs a rear strut. But I've driven it cross country a couple times now. Lived in it for a few months in the forest last summer. It's my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I've got $650 in parts and labor into it. It's paid itself off several times over. All the rides I've given coworkers etc. If you're looking for one of the top 10 most reliable vehicles of all time. This is one of them and it's not coincidence that the other most reliable vehicles ever made are cousins to this one.
that's great I also have 2007 vehicle, (kia sportage 247k, similar suv is a hyndai tuscon) I know it still has a lot of life/miles, I'm just not in a place with good reasonably priced mechanics
Well it’s mom and dad are Toyota
Yes drive them til they die
303k Toyota Corolla gathering info for my next small SUV
2000 Subaru Outback, I put 350k on it after I paid $1k with 140k already on it. Didn’t quite make it half a million
@MrJaman0083 Dang...that's great! In 2008 my ex and I bought a brand new Outback. Broke up about a year later and I let her have that car payment. She crashed it right away. Got it fixed but not sure how long it lasted her after that. I'd say it's impossible she's still driving it. I could tell that the previous body style was built better. I think that's the sweet spot in vehicles. That late 90's for GM vehicles and then Japan just started making vehicles that were just better in every way.
2019 cx-5 a fantastic car, brought in 2022 with 8k now 160k miles, only maintenance is the coolant thermostat
not diesel then
I just paid off my 2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring that I got used in 2021. It only had 35K miles on it! I’ve been super-happy with it, just regular maintenance the past 5 years, and still running great! It’s got 135K miles on it now, I’ll drive it till the wheels fall off. 😏
Love my 2007 RX350 . Runs beautifully. 200K miles.
Bought a 2024 CX 5 new. So far so good. Good mileage, reliable and the 36 months same as cash made it better. Well built car and great bargain.
My 2022 CX-5 has been bulletproof. No problems whatsoever
Unfortunately, your SUV isn't cheap and not a hidden gem. Mazda is quite popular. Almost as popular as Toyota and Honda. Prices of Mazdas keep rising too.
@throwaway5206- It's barely 4 years old, why would you expect problems? Talk about it after 10years.
@S.L.S-407 A ton of new cars show problems within the first few years (Jeep), so Mazda is doing much better than some others.
@S.L.S-407 Lots of those are around
@TheBigExclusive They're nowhere near the sales of either Honda or Toyota. Your @$$ is not a source to pull from
2014 Outlander Sport here! I’ve had it for seven years and driven around 105,000 miles and counting. This is the first vehicle I’ve ever owned that didn’t need major repairs. I just get routine maintenance and that’s it.
They’re great cars, 200k easy, I sell mine then and still pass them occasionally on the road
Thanks I might make it to test drive a 2017 today
I can have 2 cars just for fun
Had a 2015 CX5 at 150k miles. Loved it. It needed some work and I think I could have gotten it over 200k, but the dealer enticed me with offering off what I spent on repairs. Bought a young used 2023 CX5 and hope it will last me until I retire. Even more features but with the CX5 reliability. They are comfortable tanks with awd and anything else you really need. If you had a blindfold on and were told you were in a BMW you wouldn’t question it. The CX5s have been the best cars I’ve ever owned.
I would question it. Not because of the luxury............my GT Premium is certainly every bit as luxurious as a BMW. No....I would question it if the BMW was actually RUNNING. The ONLY brand of vehicles that ends up on my tow truck more is General Motors. BMW is a close second.
@wickedwarlock1Haha! 😂
My 2021 Mazda CX5 in 3 years I spent 731$ on maintenance... Mind blowing
Shouldn't that be the standard though? Oil changes and gas and go should be all you need to do on a 3 old car. It's crazy we accept anything less
When they say last forever , that means a lifetime, which really means 20 year's or 250,k miles with basic upkeep
It's ludicrous that my same sized Honda accord, that I bought new in 1991, got better gas mileage than that smaller Mazda CX-3.
You might find the reasoning is the weight of all the required safety features creates a more burdened motor. I remember reading how the 1987 Honda Civic was rated at 57 mpg. Of course, the reality was different.
@gguitteau They've had going on 40 years since then.. you would think the fuel efficiency would be better despite the marginal safety features you describe. I would bet that the motor and weight has been impacted really as much as you think. Would be interesting to do a side-by side comparison to test your thesis here. I might do a Chatgpt inquiry to see if I can determine if what you say here is correct.
@gguitteau Chatgpt result summary: Conclusion:
Both vehicles deliver ~25-28 MPG despite huge differences in technology because:
✔ The older car is light and simple.
✔ The newer car is heavier and more complex (safety, emissions, utility) - counterbalancing its more efficient engine technology.
@ParaMagic-l9f It’s not my thesis. It’s what I read probably ten years ago. The logic might be good, but I still doubted it, especially after checking real world mpg, which stated overall 38 mpg.
whats really painful is how my 93 civic gets better mileage than a modern prius.
Why cut off at 2022 for the cx 5? Is the 2023 good also?
Just about purchased a CX-5.
I got an itemized quote and after checking the math on the quote 600$ was added to the total. So I went with a RAV4
RAV$ are boring, Mazdas are classy and stylish
I currently have a 2013 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring with almost 180K on the clock that's been in the fam for over 6 years, along with having sworn by Mazdas for about a decade and a half now. Find a CX-5(or CX-9, Mazda 3 or a used Mazda 6)and chances are, you'll thank me later. ☺️
I just purchased a certified pre-owned 2025 Mazda CX-30. I was deciding between Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and Mazda, and after I test drove the CX-30 with the 2.5 Turbo engine and AWD I was sold. It's tuned so well, it's wonderful to drive, and I got the premium plus trim so it's basically a luxury car.
Glad it’s working out for you. Look into the cost of replacing those turbos. 😮
Mazda is great. I'm on my 3d Mazda bought new. I'm over 200,000 miles now on my Mazda6 2008 and it's still running as new (seriously).
Oooops! Mistake!! Skyactive G engines have no port injection they are only Direct injected- period!
that's no good
@IsleOfFeldspar it depends on the company/brand. Not everything with direct injection is a recipe for carbon buildup. Some companies do a better job with it than others. And even if you start to get some buildup a carbon removal treatment is really not that difficult or expensive
@scotteger6271 Not really! You cant prevent carbon build at any DI engine. The only recipe against it is the Toyota way by building also a port injection for valve cleaning. There is only one real and effective treatment against carbon bulid up and noone would like to pay for this specially if has payed much money for a new car. Chemicals or additives bring nothing the only way is Walnut blasting and this is expensive.
Our daughter has a 2013 Mazda C3 hatchback with a manual trans. She’s just done scheduled maintenance and has over 200,00o miles on it. She’s about to get a CX5 and I’m going to get her C3 to just run around town in.
This video is a goldmine. Thank you!
How to trust when you obviously used ai to help write this?
More AI Slop
I don't understand why you think this is AI. Seriously, what am I not seeing or hearing?
@beejls 1. I know the subject matter. I can tell when an article/video is baffling BS. 2. I have used llm's and I know how they write/what they are capable of doing. This video is a good facsimile, compare it to some random video from this channels history and you'll see they are getting better. I keep running into channels and/or videos like this and I can tell in one minute it is generic bs for monetization and not real information (unless you trust what the ai comes up with), or sometimes it's a video generated by being fed a legitimate article or two or three from some websites and turned into this kind of slop. There is good editing to match to narration and that makes it even harder to tell. A real human is putting some effort into some of this, but they probably have 10 channels on various topics so not much time to spent per video on slop or it isn't worth it anyway. I understand why people can't tell, especially when so many are are using ai now. Channels that used to be good or using ai to "help" write scripts. It's destroying youtube. It's draining any real insight. It's going to get worse. AI can be grammatically correct and casual, but they can't make sense. They can only generate generic information, nothing conceptually new. Also they can only sustain a short output before going off the rails without a lot of human intervention, so the "listicle" format is perfect for them. Basically killing the format. Finally this video has some key giveaways beyond that. Certain phrasing you will start to notice if you haven't all ready. Keep looking for overly dramatic phrasing, like here's the critical part or here's what people miss. These channels are all using similar prompts to get these scripts going. There will be shifts as it gets old, or people start to notice to much. Hope that helps. Or maybe you don't believe me. Whatever.
@ryanmahler5418 Half a million views in 12 days tells you that nobody, except yourself and your one comment, cares how it was made. It was auto-dubbed, which is a feature that RUclips itself gives to creators to use in their studio dashboard. So what? Was the information helpful or not? That's what viewers came here for...not how the narration was made.
Can you can a 5'10" person lie flat and straight in any of these? I am thinking of living/camping in one?
Look for a good used 2015 Xterra. I have a 2011. It's awesome. I'm 5'9 and can sleep in the back easily.
I bought a super low mileage 2009 Honda Element and absolutely love it. I would rather have the 4x4 but the price was right and my mechanic said it shares the same engine as the highly reliable Civic. Best of luck 😊
I have had 2 cx5 and never had an issue.
Our 2013 FWD Mazda CX-5 purchased in November 2012 has 95k miles and has never had any problems. We were going to sell it after buying a new CX-5 in 2024….just can’t do it now…part of the family. Why not have 2 CX-5s!!
Sounds like you rarely drive it. 95k miles in almost 15yrs is amazing
I wish he talked more about price.
Best bang for the buck - 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL. I bought mine new last year for $31K - fully loaded, sunroof, leather seats, yamaha stereo, variable speed cruise control, and lane keep assist. Looks great and drives even better. Outstanding build quality. My friend has a 2015 outlander with 260K miles, only routine maintenence and no issues. (10 year 100k warranty standard)
My manual 2006 Honda CR-V at 210000 miles is still going strong. Only had to replace clutch. Other than that just regular maintainance.
277k 2010 manual Honda accord with the same experience. replaced the clutch at 235k. I'll keep my old simple manual over any modern convenience.
I have a 2017 #5, and I seriously love the living (expletive) out of it. It was a lease return, so had less than 8,000 miles on it, but it was a $26,000 vehicle I bought for $12,000 because it was technically "used." All the bells and whistles, too! ♥ my Mitzi!
Fantastic video-I appreciate you, thank you for putting this together. Which of these has the largest cabin space with the seats folded? (I work as a DJ and space is optimal for me.)
It may be “just” a sedan, but the 2006 Corolla my late husband bought new, recently turned over 100,000 miles. I confess that maintenance has lately been less than regular, but she’s a champ. I’d put her in the same class as my 1966 VW Beetle, and by the time that one retired, the only original part was the 4-on-the-floor gearshift knob. After driving it without the clutch for about 6 months, I finally crawled underneath and replaced the cable. Myself. Well, there was this cool book, “How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive (For the Complete Idiot)”. I think it’s fabulous to own two such reliable, long-lived, and highly appreciated vehicles in one lifetime. All the thanks go to Dad, who bought the Blue Bug, and Harry, who bought the Red Car (which is sort of fading to a strong pink). ❤😊💋😍
i also have an 06 corolla, 100k miles and still going strong
You absolutely cannot go wrong with a Corolla. Solid as they come, perfect commuter car, and will last forever.
I had 3 Corollas of the 8th and 9th generation. One 1999 went just short of 400,000 km. They were fabulous all round reliable winners. Yours is the beginning of the 10th generation and is also a great car. But the more we are forced to put stupid stuff we don't need on cars, the more they will break down and be engineered poorly. Be careful of the UV rays degrading all your rubber/plastic parts. Like hoses and belts and power window components. That's what finally killed my cars, not the engine. If you have parked it inside, it's better off.
2020 outlander owner here thanks for your support,, love the V6 torque and 6 speed for great economical mileage, and she’s loaded ! Moonroof leather auto starter!! $5000 less than the competition
Nice video but with only 229k on my 2016 Forester I'm not in the market.
My Mitsubishi wasn't an suv but I drove a Galant for 22 years. Bought a 2000 new and just wanted something new so I sold it for $1000 😂 Never had a problem with it
Still driving my wife's hand-me-down 2014 Cx-5. My Ford Truck was too tall for mom to climb into.
I absolutely love my 2021 Mazda CX5. It's the most beautiful car to drive and own. But I have to correct you on something - the 2.5 l Skyactiv engine does not have port injection, it just has a very clever design: the intake valves run at an optimal temperature which does not produce carbon. And they really don't. We have 2 high mileage Skyactiv Mazdas in our family, and they run as smoothly as new, without ever needing any maintenance.
If they get “no maintenance” you won’t own those cars much longer
@us1fedvetpretty sure they meant repairs and not the scheduled maintenance👉
@us1fedvetwell, of course I am referring to the intake valves and cylinder head, cause that is what we are talking about. The cars get all needed routine maintenance.
@benniejohnson81Thankyou! You get it.
@hou@houtyfish273It was you that was referring to those parts.
Oil additive package is virtually gone by 5K miles......7.5k? No way.
I took a Dodge Dart from 33 miles off the dealer lot to 305K+ from Oct 2012 to August 2024. If I can get that same result with my 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring I'll be stoked!
Its been a solid SUV (one issue that the warranty covered) so far. Regular maintenance is key
Damn, just bought a used 2022 CX5 GT with 35000 km 2 months ago! Happy to see this video. I love the awd, the white leather seats, the bose system and the sun roof! Bought myself some crossclimate 2 and have an absolute blast when it snows. I had a 2024 Trax and i hated it, that's why i must be so happy with my purchase.
Sounds like you made a great upgrade, enjoy the new ride!
40% of Mitsubishi dealerships have closed around the world. Good luck getting parts and say hello to driving for an hour or more to find a dealership.
had a shogun sport for years great car then mits pulled the plug lost a good dealership they were a great team plus the didnt rip you off
@davidlove1944did you also loose all your commas?
@OmmerSyssel Its "lose" not "loose" genius.
What about non OEM parts that meet or exceed?
No manufacturer makes their own parts. It's all sub contracted out
275000 miles on my Skyactiv 2.0 Mazda 3. It still runs great.
Wow!! That great.
I need a car that I can trust to go cross-country. (Illinois to Florida and back)
Eh, I don't get the love affair with AWD outside the snowy states. I'd rather have the higher fuel economy and lower maintenance costs of a FWD only model.
Ohio all four seasons. I've never had AWD but in winter months I want AWD.
@Joy-p2v3i I can definitely see that in the heavy snow areas.
I grew up in a time when even 4 wheel drive TRUCKS were rare! GM was still having NAPCO install their systems. I don’t get it either!
I really like the Mazda CX 9. It might be my very first non American vehicle.
I’m retired and only drive when needed. I don’t need or want AWD.
3.0 v6 outlander ? In europe we have phev version hybrid ?
My CX-5 signature was such a great car, but it did have the TSB for the burning oil issue related to an intake valve seal. Thankfully the dealer finally agreed to fix it. Never burned oil again. Was a beautiful car
Cx5 port an direct???? I don't think so. DI only
This channel is sloppy with their facts, especially so in the age of AI.
How about the Mazda cx 50? Is it a nice idea to buy ?
My 2008 Rav 4, which I bought new that year, is still running perfectly and has never had any real issues. I drive very little so it only has aboit 33000 miles on it. I think I'll keep it
My 2008 RAV4 rarely needs a thing. I’ve had it 4.5 yrs. It’s ugly but a GOAT…and paid for.
Who can I contact to buy one of those Cars.
My 2018 Outlander has been great. Seriously, 1 full break job, 1 battery replacement and im at 160k. Goes through headlamp bulbs a bit but i drive lights on at al times
All the prices just went up 25% since the release of this video. 😮
The problem with the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the CVT transmission. The RAV 4 doesn’t have the CVT. I have a friend that just found this out the expensive way!
He does specify to stick with the V6 with the 6 speed transmission.
just been known the toyota ecvt is nothing like other cvts and how they work, BAd ones have rubber belts etc. Toyota is a planetary gear system. The toyota eCVT is the best transmission they make.
I found this very interesting. I drive a 2011 Suzuki 4x4 which is being a great little car except body parts are impossible to find. Of these SVUs you listed, how do body repairs rate? Thank you.
2016 CX-5 that I bought in June of 2015. Still flawless at 150k
my 2016 Mazda cx5 has 228,000 miles on it and still going strong with nothing but regular maintenance
@Justinegallowswow
So glad I came across this video. I live in the northeast & between all the snow we get (especially The last month or so) and the hills in my town I need something reliable. The Mazda CX-5 & The Toyota Venza won’t break my pockets to purchase which is a plus!
I don't know if it matters to you, but I love my used 2022 Mazda CX5 AWD. The previous owner took care of it so well. It was like brand new when I bought it last year. It had 50,000 miles on it. Had a mechanic check it out, and he was impressed with the upkeep and said these cars are solid, safe, and a great deal. The mechanic did not work for Mazda, who said this. Good luck. Hope this helps 🤞
@commonsense17Thanks! My neighbor is a mechanic so I’m going to take him with me when the time comes to see a cat in person. I’m totally clueless about cars so videos like these & hearing from someone like yourself who has had one helps me a great deal!
I have a 2007 Honda Pilot with 112,000 miles and I’m driving it until it dies.
That's really low mileage for that year! I have a 2017 Ridgeline with 92,000. Also planning on driving it till it dies.
VERY HELPFUL CONTENT!!! Thank You so much.❤
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching. :)
ave a 2017 CX-5 Touring and it feels like a BMW inside with quality materials and design. It's been a very reliable car with just basic maintenance and overall build quality is excellent. It's made in Japan, too!
I've thinking of purchasing a 2015 Sport at a local dealer. It's done 89,000 miles but I've heard a lot of issues pertaining to some Mazda engines. The one I'm looking at is a 2.2 diesel. I've looked around and they all seem to be diesel around this time period.
Honda v 6 had crankshaft bearing issue ,
I have a 2018 CX-5 and I'm very happy with it. I've also noticed a lot of the previous gen CX-5s around my area that still look brand new. Not a raecar by any means but very comfortable, reliable, and good looking (at least IMO).
I had a Mazda CX5 - a great car. I had it for 10 years and not a single problem. I see lots of them in my area, my carpool buddy had the same car as me. No one ignores them, they are pretty popular cars.
Still love my 2008 Toyota Rav4. Only change oils, brakes, 1 starter, tyres. That's all. Beat that.
Old 2009 Honda CR-V 2.0 AWD for EU market. Bulletproof everything still original after 16 years. Engine was not touched except for oil changes. It's a full spec with adaptive cruise control, xenon adaptive lights, rear camera, navigation which works in off road, leather, seat heating, panoramic roof.
2007 Mini Cooper Convertible, 150K miles, replaced tires, and brakes once, (and then got ceramic brakes which will probably last a lifetime of the car).
No engine or under hood components changed.
I believe that beats your example.
Customer reviews on the Mazda 2016 cx5 are problematic. Avoid
I'm with you with my 2012 Toyota RAV4, 3.5L V-6 engine, 5-spd. auto trans, and selectable 4WD.
It has 62k miles and still starts, stops, runs, and drives like a new car. Love it!
Yup. I have a 2007 RAV4. I’m keeping it until it dies as a car for my dogs. Hasn’t had a single issue.
Love my 2021 AWD CX-5. 85,000 km which I bought new. Just did the brakes (not at a dealer). No issues so far. Runs like a dream.
Hint: there's a refreshment to Mazda, not CX-3, but now is called CX-30. 2.5 litre, naturally aspirated engine. Supposedly very good.
Absolutely love my CX-30!
@daynagorman7495mind providing some feedback? How does the car perform in day to day city driving? Is there enough space for family with two kids? Thnx
yup! I picked up a 2022 CX-30 Turbo model woth 22k miles on it for 18k because it had some hail dents (woulda been 26 or 28k otherwise). Its an awesome little car. Its a bit small for a family but for a single person like me its plenty practical. Its relatively fun to drive, comfortable, pretty solidly built. Id say the suspension is a tad stiffer than you might expect. I guess thats why it handles well. Only issue at 30k miles now is the sun visor droops a tiny bit and the Tire Pressure Management sensor needs replaced. One other issue was my own dumb fault......never owned a car with an electronic fas tank lock so I pushed too hard on the gas tank lid and broke it not realizing how it worked.......had to superglue that back on but yea that was my fault.
Gas mileage is pretty mid, I only get 24.5 mpg combined driving. But awd and 320 lb/ft of torque is a lot of fun. I have an extended warranty for 6 years 125k miles so we shall see how reliable it truly is.
@danr154thnx for the reply my dude.
Enjoy your car.
I appreciate this video greatly, thank you!
2014 Acura MDX 106,000 miles here!! Runs like a dream and we're praying it lasts for another 10 years.
2011 here. I'm around 60k. Hope to keep it another 20 years.
It'll probably rust out in places before the drivetrain dies... That happened on our Honda Pilot. Owned it just under 15yrs with about 170k miles on it. The undercarriage was heavily rusted and the rear bumper core was on the verge of falling apart (rust). The engine and drivetrain were still going plenty strong though.
Same with my middle son's 2008 Honda CR-V... Just turned 200k miles and the undercarriage is a pile of rust, but the rest of it is perfectly fine.
Something about the steel Honda/Acura uses in their cars, or perhaps the lack of anti-corrosion treatment. Even the aluminum parts are a mess after several winters in snow/road salt areas.
I drive a 2019 CX-5 and love it. The only issue I have is elbow comfort on the door armrest and center console. I bought after-market items to raise the level of both, and extend the cushion on the console forward a bit, and am now am totally comfortable when I drive. Just wish they had addressed that at the time.
I had a 2018 cx5, and I loved it. I only got rid of it cuz we had 2 more kids and needed more space
What did you get? Same situation but I really want a escalade or tahoe
@o0Tru0o I begrudgingly got a Kia Carnival. All our kids still need car seats and a minivan is the most practical
Need a 7 seater . Any suggestions
We had a 2014 CX-5 that I got to over 200k mi with only regular maintenance, and in 2024 picked up a new CX-5 to replace it. Loved it both times, current CX-5 still going strong with no issues.
they are junk. They get towed every single day.
Revisit this subject in 2 years when my lease is up and I’m looking to buy at a decent price please!!! But this is good info for buying a car for my college student.
The really important question. Which of these have a CD player that plays MP3 discs?
I am being serious here.
Good luck. We all miss this.
Lexus NX
I never used the CD player in my CX-5... stupid Bose system - I bluetoothed my phone audio
Aftermarket radios for like $40 can play mp3s off a USB drive or micro SD card, & those can hold a lot more mp3s than a CD
What about best cars for towing?
My dad bought a brand new CX-5 and he swears by it ! 😆 ........
I drove my 2013 CX-5 183k miles and except for replacing one wheel bearing, I NEVER had to do anything other than routine maintenance. I've had 3 Mazda's and all have been incredibly reliable.
Why does the Mazda year range end at the year 2022?
As for Mitsubishi's 2.4 consuming oil, their V6 is no better. In fact, almost all newer cars burn oil because the manufacturers use lower friction piston rings to increase the fuel economy by a minuscule amount. So don't discriminate against the Mitsubishi 2.4, it's the same across the board. Also, remember most cars now come with the bullshyte stop-start system which while also saves a minuscule amount of fuel but will end up costing thousands in starter motor repairs and dedicated stop-start batteries and dedicated stop start-oils.
So the take-away is, don't get sucked in by the widow price, do lots of research and have your potential purchase independently tested.
No issues with my twelve year old 2.4 Mitsubishi
Nice list!
The reason is people don’t do research. I got my 2025 CX5 because it did not have a CVT. Unfortunately I found all cars under 70 grand are 4 cylinder with a CVT. I had a 2023 Mitsubishi and will never get another one.
The CX5 has a lot more going for it than just not having a CVT. If you buy the right trim or buy one before 2025 (later 2023 to 2025), they stopped having cylinder deactivation and no idle stop…all things I despise…so a 2025 Select is just about perfect honestly
I don’t want or need a sunroof…a power hatch is just something waiting to break…memory seats and actual leather would be nice but the leatherette in the Select isn’t bad.
It started as supply chain issues but they left the idle stop and cylinder deactivation out of the 2025 Select…but the Preferred has it…which is annoying
@scotteger6271 2017 was the last year that the CX5 didn't have cylinder deactivation.
Did you see the cylinder cross section clip showing the combustion cycle with the valves moving? I 2onder if the other information is trustworthy.
2.5 l Sky-active???
Look up overheating / cylinder head gasket on these first.
All Car manufacturers have a few issues, the problems you mention affected a handful of cars nearly all were fixed under warranty , mazda always come out near the top of reliability survey
@B.acklab4545Sure, that’s why this SUV is at the top of the list in reliability, right?
Cos you KNOW to budget for a Cylinder Head job between 70 000 - 90 000 miles.
It’s coming, you can RELY on it.
Supposedly it only the cx5 turbo model with this problem
@ad-gq1usThat’s great news, go right ahead and buy the non- turbo version then, enjoy!
You know what’s coming your way, right?
I had an outlander sport and it was totaled because the parts where too much to repair it.
The CX-5 does not have a port and direct injection, but it is an excellent small SUV
It have direct injection but no port injection
Cx -3 is a small, cx-5 is a medium size SUV but big enough for 2+2 family.
nothing with variable cylinder management ever please
I had a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor with the v6 Mivec engine. Put on 475,000 km. When I sold it, was running fine. Now have 2008 Endeavor with v6 Mivec engine and has 200,000 km and running fine.
I have a 2008 Endeavor V6 with 200,000kms that I love and runs great... the problem is that it's rusted out from Ontario winters and now I need a new AWD SUV. I'd easily buy another, but there's not many around.
Would be great if you included if they can be flat towed in your information.
Why did you show the outlander sport many times when discussing the outlander? You have to do better. It's things like that that makes videos like this stupid
Instantly lost credibility with me when I saw that
This is a bunch of crap videos. YOUz right
