Elephants Trunk 2 Makes Lawn Care Easy As Pie

  • One of the most novel products I have stumbled upon in a while, the Elephants Trunk 2 (made by GTM Professional (In the Netherlands, not actually Germany as I state in the video (yes, I am the stereotypical American with no sense of world geography))) is a wearable harness that transfers the weight of trimmers, pole saws, hedge trimmers, anything you hold, really, to your back instead of your arms and shoulders.
    It is a really neat idea that is executed tremendously well. While you can expect many more videos featuring this tool and showing you how it works, here is a brief overview of it and introduction to how it works, as well as showing it in action!
    Big thanks to the folks at GTM Professional and Novafor Equipment for sending this to me to test!
    Want more info on the ET2? Here is GTM's Facebook post on it with tons of info, including where to buy if you are in the US. ( / 1189521961099144 )

    Anyone who says that it's lazy is an ignorant somebody who has never used a pole saw for more than 2 minutes. Also it looks super weird by itself without the hedge trimmer attached

    • @The1Rice
      @The1Rice 5 лет назад

      if you can't hold a pole saw for more than 2 mins you probably shouldn't be using the a saw in general. and yes i would still call this lazy, if the last 7 years of landscaping has taught me anything, it's that this is not practical to use for every job. Sure if all you did was trim larger shrubs with a pole trimmer and nothing else day in and day out, it's a perfect fit. but for most landscapers this is just a novel idea.

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад +1

      Mastering Lawncare It does look pretty wild without the tool attached!
      The1Rice I do agree that unless you are doing hedges for at least 45 minutes, it isn't worth breaking out UNLESS you have some physical issues. That being said, if I had this during that 2 hour crepe mrytle job I had, I wouldn't have injured my shoulder and gone through everything that comes with it.
      I also think probably more solo guys would get this than any other group, I doubt employers are going to drop the cash for this for their employees! Great feedback, thanks for sharing!

    While I can see the benefit in this, I can also see it creating bad habits which can injure. Your reaching was a perfect example. When I worked on the ambulance, we replaced our manual stretchers with nice, fancy power ones. No more lifting a stretcher with a patient. Simply push a button and let the hydralics do the work for you. Good way to save your back, right? Well unfortunately it led to a lot of bad habits and didn't prevent back injuries. It just made it so EMT's stopped working out their backs and started getting lazy when required to lift. Point I'm making, is don't get so distracted by the convience that you become lazy in your safety. Don't develop the bad habits that will cause you injury.

    Hi there,
    Thank you for your great video, I came across this product a couple of months ago and I thought then what a great idea! It's a very unusual looking product and I am all for having something that makes work easier in the garden, however, I don't like gimmicks! However, looks like a really good genuine product and I believe it could help many people.
    I know what it's like to hold a petrol hedge cutter all day, especially if it's a long reach machine. I haven't actually seen one of these harnesses in the flesh, however, if people knew about them I'm sure that they would sell and be very popular with contractors.
    Thanks again for the great video.

So you can say its a "motorsensenhalter" or maybe a "motorsensenhalter". I know a lot of lawn care guys around my area and all of them use thes attachements, because it safe you.

  • @umpbumpfiz

    I imagine the ET will make trimming-in-a-straight-line easier too, since you can just hold the trimmer at a constant level and swing it across the hedge much more easily... once the "work" is done and you're putting the finishing touches on. On the subject of keeping things straight while you're working, do you ever use anything like stakes and string or markers of some kind, to keep yourself on track for a straight line on a long hedge? Or just eyeball it as you go? (I ask because I don't think eyeballing works well for me)

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад

      Eyeballing doesn't work well for me either, but it is what I usually do. I tried to run a string line one time and it got in the way and kept getting stuff hung up on it (this was for a BIG reduction, so heavy limbs falling on it kept messing it up).

    Ah yes the couch warriors saying things and not realizing you do this kind of work on a daily basis pretty much.
    I did 3 days of pressure washing which I have some of the videos up on my Random PBR second channel.
    Did the driveway today and looks great but not so great is getting a lobster red sunburn.
    I did put on sun screen but was half way into the washing.
    Got to 90 here in Portland, OR which is hot for us here.
    With that said I am worn out after each time even if it was fun and getting things cleaned it was mainly 3 to 4 hours easy for the back patio.

    How tight is the recoil? By that I mean does it want to pull the tool up or just kind of holds it there. Looks awesome! I will totally get one when they start selling them here

    • @CopperCreekCuts
      @CopperCreekCuts  5 лет назад

      I think that is why they say don't use anything less than 6.6 pounds. If you do, the recoil will actually pull it up and that is no bueno, you don't want something flying up towards you without you meaning to do it. Heavier than 6.6 and it just kind of holds it where you yank the weight down to. Obviously there are areas of gray in both directions depending on where you have it clipped and what kind of tool, etc, but generally speaking that is what I find to be true. Great question!
