I took off the coating off an Apple iPhone 12 mini saddle brown case with alcohol and melamine block. Applied some oil and looks much better. For my golden brown Apple case, I’ll be doing the same process again.
So I have a Golden Brown ip13 pro case in the sales as it’s now an old model. Questions please: 1. Do I just leave it as it is for now? I have a leather cream that I have treated it with. If it patinas poorly can I fix it later? 2. What is the best cream/balsam/oil to use to treat the leather during use 3. With 400 grit does it just take the coating off or does it ruin the leather surface also? Not sure if to just use the case for now and try the patina after it gets dirty or just take the coating off now and then use it. Advice please. Great videos 👍🏻😎📱
This is awesome. I just hope they fixed the issue with the 13 cases because I want this to happen naturally. I have the dark cherry and feel like this color has some amazing potential. If not, I’ll be back here in 6 months learning how to fix it.
Hi! How does the case feel like after sanding? Does it feel rough or flaky after? I’m thinking whether I should proceed 😅 because Apple case is quite expensive but I don’t want my case to eventually have the horrible patina with normal usage.
Hey I have a 12 mini and I decided to buy the Apple saddle brown case, as you said the patina was really ugly so I decided to sand it down and add some oil since I didn’t have leather balm. My patina is nowhere close to what your final update looked like, yours being a rich cherry brown and mine turned out to look black😭 Please help me out here, should I throw this case away or can it be fixed ?
Hi! Great video! I have a question) can I use bee wax instead of balm? or castor oil? I want to remove coating within sandpaper, and user castor oil or maybe wax. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks! Hmm, any oil is hard to apply evenly without applying too much. As for the bees wax I have not tried it but I would guess it gives an ok result but might be sticky. I would sandpaper the coating off carefully and then just use the case. Let the oil from your hands do the work 😊.
On the saddle brown case, after sanding and using it for a while the whole case will be close to the color as the worn edges where(rather dark). I dont have experience with the color you have unfortunatly.
Hi! Here is the final uodate video in the series, thanks for showing interest! I hope it helps. As for MagSafe charging I can’t say but leather do wear and I would guess after much charging you would see some marks/a ring. ruclips.net/video/y9T7CNvEBXY/видео.html
I’ve watched one video and than binged all of them. Phenomenal channel. If I may ask, how do you feel about nomad? I feel like apples quality isn’t as good as previous years. Thinking about going to nomad for iPhone cases.
Thank you for that!😊 I havn’t had any experience with them hands on unfortunatly. What have steered me away from them is the fact that they are not leather all the way around. Same with their AirPods case. There is what looks like some black plastic on some areas. Mujjo cases seems to be the best option I’ve seen, but it leaves the bottom of the phone exposed. Which is just a minor thing so if I had to select a leather case that’s not Apple, I’d go for Mujjo!

Thats why I opt for full grain leather cases not genuine leather 😂
All you need is denatured alcohol, the coating just wiped off, let it dry and then leather balm it

how did it end up?
@@paddppat It’s pretty good. Still a lot darker at the edges, but getting a decent patina.

U can try but it’ll prolly mess up the cases since ur scratching the surface
Oh I missed this comment, if you use 400grit paper or finer grit it will feel smooth. I tried coarser and 320 or coarser and it might feel rough.
i bought apple leather case (brown) specially for patina effect 🙃

Forgot to add that it’s only been 2 days since I sanded and applied some oil, do you think it will lighten up into a dark brown?
@@adityaanand3539 How's that going now?
@@sagarverma1489 it actually turned out really great

@@KimBertilsson Thanks for answer) hmmm oil from hands... sounds great. Sandpaper is the only variant?
Great video! I was waiting for a long time for this
Not sure whether I should do this, I got the orange leather case and it’s aging horribly so far but sanding it seems scary

@@KimBertilsson i think i will probably at some point sand it down a bit and repaint it instead of letting it full on patina
Aye, that is probably the only way to keep the vibrant color.
great video my man keep making great videos like this
Thank you! Here is the final update video😊.

Great video Kim, i was curious to what its looks and feels like now, and also if MagSafe charging affects the look of the leather without the coating.

The thing I apply after the coating is removed? Leather Balm, like nurishment for leather 😊
@@KimBertilsson , oh I see. I thought you said leather bond. Thanks for letting me know it’s leather balm.
