    • @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA

      Yes. It is the most common method. Keep an eye on your withholding on your future paystubs, you can always submit another W-4 if it doesn't look accurate.

    Hello Katie quick question if we filled married filing jointly and my husband only works he makes like 77,500
    We have 3 kids under 17 and we multiply that by 2,000 it equals to 6,000
    They are now taking less out his paycheck like $17 from FDW and I am concern they used to take out $178 almost $200 but that when he hadn't updated his w4 and he was filling single with no dependents
    Will we have to pay the irs back those 6,000 at end of the year

    • @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA
      @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello GodsProvision, I can provide only a general answer here. The CTC (Child tax credit) cannot be used to directly pay off unpaid taxes. So, the $6,000 received from the CTC won't go towards any tax debts. However, if you have unpaid taxes, your tax refund (including the refundable part of the CTC) can be used to offset the amount you owe.

      @@KatieStOresCFPChFCEA okay thank you so much yeah we don’t owe taxes at all we were just concerned that ever since he updated his w4 we wanted a bigger pay check and smaller tax refund we were afraid we would have to pay the 6,000 for our dependents back
      because a lot of people say that but any how thank you for giving me that peace of mind

      Since you just updated his W-4, keep an eye on the withholding in the following weeks. It's important to avoid any surprises when filing your income taxes.. You can always submit another W-4 if it doesn't look correct. Another option is to use the IRS Withholding calculator. This would give you a very accurate insight. Hi Vinlago, you can try using the "Simplified Tax Calculator." There are several options available on the internet. This tool provides a less comprehensive estimate of your tax liability, but it can be helpful if you need a rough estimate.

    • @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA
      @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Vinlago, The correct way to approach it is to either fill out Form W-4V (for withholdings from your social security payments) or pay estimated taxes quarterly. Form W-4V allows you to choose a desired withholding amount, while estimated taxes are suitable for those whose needs are not met by W-4V. You can find the IRS resources and tools to estimate taxes and make payments electronically on their website.

      @@KatieStOresCFPChFCEA ok thanks. We'll try that.
      (Rather than have taxes withheld from soc security we were going to adjust tax withholding from the full time job using a W-4. After retiring in a few years, then he may do a W-4V.)

On the estimator is asking for me to use my Social Security statement and enter the total federal income taxes withheld year to date. I have the statement from the SSA website but I don’t know how to read it. I don’t know what number I’m supposed to put down.

      Hello Joycelyn, To find the total amount of federal income taxes withheld from your Social Security statement you need to locate Box 6 of the SSA-1099 form. This box shows the voluntary benefits withheld and paid for federal income tax purposes.

    Homeless people who have jobs who sleep in tents. How do they file for taxes with no address??

    • @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA
      @KatieStOresCFPChFCEA  4 месяца назад +2

      Hello Tiffany, The IRS isn't picky and will accept money from everyone. Homeless people with jobs can still file their taxes, even without a permanent address. The IRS understands this situation and offers options for them to file.
      --- While a permanent address isn't mandatory, you do need a mailing address on your tax return. This is where the IRS will send any communication or potential refund. Here are some possibilities: ---Shelter Address: Many homeless shelters allow residents to use their address for tax purposes.
      ---Trusted Friend or Family: You can list the address of a trusted friend or relative who can receive your tax documents.
      ---Day Center or Social Service Agency: Some day centers or social service agencies may offer a mailing address option for tax purposes.

      Hello DeLyrics, I have a video on How to get and EIN but that won't help you much since you are in Indonesia. So... To get EIN as a foreign person, you must fill out the IRS Form SS-4 Application for Employer Identification Number (EIN).
      You can only file this form online if you have an ITIN or SSN. According to the IRS instructions for Form SS-4: “If you have NO legal residence, principal place of business, or principal office or agency in the U.S. or U.S. possessions, you may call 267-941-1099 (not a toll-free number), 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday, to obtain an EIN.”

      Hello DeLyrics, First, I am not sure what you mean by 'pending' salary. Registering for an EIN does not exempt you from paying taxes. You will still need to file and pay all APPLICABLE federal and state taxes, regardless of whether you have an EIN.

      Hello Penn woman. You have a few options. I think the first is the best if it works. Option 1. First you should try using the IRS tax withholding estimator. That might save you from the second and third options. Here is the link www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-withholding-estimator. Option 2: The IRS offers Publication 505, Tax Withholding and Estimated Tax. This publication includes more complex tables to calculate withholding for scenarios with multiple jobs exceeding $120,000. Option 2... It might also help if you considered consulting a tax professional in this case.
